  1. Candy cane laser axe! Hah!
  2. Good job on the ABS paste, that'll look like it never happened with a bit of polishing and some paint! PS: The recent discussions seem to be about prop replication vs. the CRLs (idealized/standardized versions of what you see in the films) really, like Tony said it's up to you which path to take.
  3. Was meant as more of a joke, not to derail your thread. Reno, NV - we only have a half dozen or so official troops a year... have to go over the hill to Sacramento/etcetera for anything more.
  4. In my neck of the woods we'd be lucky to have 12 events to go to a year.
  5. Looking at the CRL no, guess I’ve just assumed it was. Will update.
  6. Screen accurate clips have the screws 1/4" or so from the edge (some even closer!). You might want to round the edges a bit as well to help prevent armor/belt damage.
  7. Two options that I see: 1 - (easy option, possible Centurion roadblocks): Use more heavy duty glue, like an ABS solvent (thin coat). I had to do this on one of my forearms because the E6000 seams kept coming apart. 2 (will look better) - the way your forearms are trimmed, you'll have your cover strips off (too close on one side, too far apart on the other). You could use some inner cover strips/ABS paste to correct your edges and then proceed to glue with outside cover strips as normal, but this would entail more work. I'm sure others will have their own words of wisdom.
  8. If you keep it up with these great infographics/images I think this thread could end up being a great resource for aspiring RS builds. Screen used suits had off-white mic tips that were painted black on the outside... the interior was white and on many (most?) suits the ring around the mesh was white due to weathering.
  9. Can anyone with an RS kit confirm whether or not they come with plastic hand guards in addition to/instead of latex if you don't opt for the strapping pack?
  10. Hi everyone, Below you will find a list of the various ANH kits (for now, I could look into ESB/ROTJ/etc. if demand is there) available and what hardware/accessories/soft goods are included or available as an option. This list was born out of a recent question PM, so I thought I'd expand it out by adding other armor makers and posting it for all. This list is meant as a companion to Joseph's excellent supply list, which I encourage everyone to take a look at: Additional vendor information can be found in this thread: Hopefully this will help all of you with your shopping/builds, as well as act as a resource for those aiming for EI/Centurion in knowing what to expect in terms of additional purchases that will be needed. As this is a new thread and currently a work in progress, if anything is incorrect or out of date, please let me know either in this thread or via PM and I will update it. I don't plan on adding FX or any other armors that are out or production, as this list is meant to focus on kits that can still be purchased. Vendors: to get added to this list, please contact me. If your kits or options change, please let me know.
  11. If you choose to, ABS paste is your friend.
  12. What adhesive are you using, out of curiosity? I wonder if using something like E6000 instead of just dry clamping, if that would give you the flex needed to avoid stress cracks.
  13. I'd re-rivet. That probably wouldn't pass muster for EIB/Centurion (assuming you're aiming for those, which you should! ), but even if you onlyl go for basic it's better to have a helmet that points straight.
  14. Glad you finally got your money back. Now on to finding a easier-to-obtain kit!
  15. You can usually find those styles of candy canes at the dollar store, FWIW. If I had any skills with a sewing needle I'd help you out, but alas...
  16. One more thing... it may be worth moving the L3 space pack requirements to L2, considering there is essentially just one vendor right now and that's what the CRL is based on.
  17. Thanks for the clarifications, Paul. I'd also suggest adding the following to the thigh section (my additions in bold): Thigh ammo belt is attached to thigh with a solid head rivet or fastener in the upper corner and fastened to the lower thigh ridge. The solid head rivet attachment is painted white. Standard pop rivets are not allowed. Note: The original rivets used for the TK armor were single cap/rapid rivets. This makes it clearer what is screen-accurate and also brings it in line with the notes on split rivets elsewhere.
  18. Joseph was selling them awhile back, but I think he's out of stock: I'd send him a PM and see if there are any left
  19. Pictures aren't showing up (for me at least). You could always try a local paint shop, they're usually able to get close matches of paint, and many can do so with rattle cans as well.
  20. Us OT guys glue the fronts, but I'd be curious to see what you guys are doing as well - I'd worry the fiberglass would crack after repeated opening/closing cycles.
  21. Did you ever get your chest adjusted? They make pots large enough to fit a chest piece (I have one) but they're not cheap... but it is an option.
  22. Yeah, I wrote "painted black" on the assumption that black oxide/anodized screws are nearly impossible to find, but if people want to go the extra mile, I'd rather not confuse them.
