As long as your referring to the image quality and not planning on burning them on HD DVDs. The drives are still expensive. But at least this way we'll have a stormtrooper reference CD/DVD to go along with the sandtrooper, Boba Fett, and Vader one .

    Sounds good to me.
  3. Doesn't this belong in the armor history thread.
  4. BTW welcome to the FISD Dan. Enjoy the stay.
  5. Ever thought of opening a 501st bed & breakfast for the week?
  6. I also used hot glue on both. It worked great.
  7. Well here is a thought for the masses. While I agree that recasting is wrong, I also believe it's illogical to for a prop maker to only make 10 or 15 of a prop ever and get upset when they are recast. If you have a lineage prop, and sell them at a premium price, make enough to satisfy the masses. Otherwise it's s kick in the balls to those who want the best props but get left out because they aren't on the right forum or don't check the forums/email every few hours. Recasting is always going to happen and luckily most recasters turn out substandard work. But I also believe the limited offerings of top notch props is also partially to blame as well.
  8. You can get E6000 at Home Depot, Lowe's, or most home improvement store. It's contact cement, which means you put it on both surfaces, wait, and then stick them together. When it cures it remains soft, but holds well when I've used it. I've never used it on my armor but the few times I did (years and years ago) I think it dried clear. Maybe one of the HIPS armor guys will chime in since it's their glue of choice.
  9. E6000 is the next best thing (but I still prefer plastic welder), or wait till you come back over the bridge to troop.
  10. The gaps on the side are one of the inaccuracies of the FX kit. There are several threads that discuss how close the gap. On the chest plate, I used black velcro. Just mount it to the contoured corners (near where the bicep meets the shoulder bell in your pictures) so it's visibility is minimal. Did you trim the left thigh to match the size and contour of the right? In my opinion it just gives a better overall look to the armor. Other than that, it is lookin good. The ab button upgrade is a nice touch.
  11. Yep, the FX armor has short biceps, a high cut butt plate, and the thigh contour is off especially in the back. Someday I'll have accurate armor (I hope).
  12. You know the fan attached to the commercial AC unit that is used to keep the computer room cool. A CPU fan right?
  13. There is a huge difference between the different suits of stormtrooper armor. Just compare the shoulder bells to see what I mean.
  14. I've also got a blue/green tinted AP helmet and FX armor. Look close in ANH, the helmets didn't always color match anyway.
  15. Yep, the left is bigger. You'll have to cut an upside down V wedge to get the left and right to match. The left thigh is much larger around the bottom. A tailor's tape measure is great when matching them up.
  16. Ok, one quick question. Since you had to trim down the thighs, why not glue them in back instead of velcro? Other than that looks like your of on the right foot.
  17. Here is the difference between the two. The TE is a hair more accurate, and has to be painted. The AP comes in ABS so there is no need to paint it, and ABS glues better. Both are excellent kits, and your really splitting hairs between the two.
  18. The ABS cement takes 24 hours to cure. I used Devcon plastic weld and it cures in 15 minutes. I love the plastic weld stuff, just make sure you keep it clamped the whole 15 minutes. It's a great feeling when that big box of white goodness shows up at your doorstep.
  19. This is a great place to start studying up on TK armor. ------------
  20. Yes you have to use primer first. Be sure to lightly sand the surface before you prime. Then you can use either Krylon Fusion, or Krylon H2O. The H2O has a nicer finish to it, but I don't know how flexable it is.
  21. Paypal sent. Gotta support my detachment.
  22. WooHoo, Bernard is back and better than ever. Glad your back from your tour.
  23. There is going ot be a second run. Keep an eye on the 501st only section, and there is a thread about it on the legion forums.
  24. John, Your inbox is full. I've been trying to PM you back and your 501st profile email bounces back as well.
  25. I have problems believing that one. Anyone ever see a stormtrooper get up after being shot .
