ABS cement only fuses ABS. Using it on anything else will just make a mess.

A side note on CA glue. While it does have a great bond, if your armor ever gets cold CA glue gets brittle and can pop loose. This is true for almost all glues, but CA glue seems to be more sensitive than most. If your going to go with CA glue check at local hardware stores and large hobby shops as you ca buy a pint for what a few small tubes cost.

I have my shin pieces glued in the front with velcro in the rear. I did glue my thighs shut, but test fit several times before you take the plunge and glue them shut. My theory is glue everything shut you can because you will have less armor malfunctions down the road. So far that statement is true in m experience.

The abs cement that comes with the FX kit can be bought from any home improvement/ hardware store in the plumbing area. It takes 24 hours to set so make sure you have alot of different sized clamps on hand. Many people (me included) use Devcon plastic welder. I can be found in the glue & caulk area and sets in about 15 minutes. It holds very well. In the 20+ event's I've done, parades included, I've never busted a seam. I have had one thigh start to split from the top but that was due to a poor glue job the first time around. Also the platic welder dries with a yellow tint so make sure you don't get any on the outside of the armor.

OK guys, after looking at all the blaster shots in ESB here is the verdict. ESB had no greeblies on the left side (as your holding it) of the baster. There were no clear shots of a stormtrooper holding an E-11 on film, but between Leia, and Screwball's caps, and my own collection of production photos speak for themselves. And some reference pictures:

I have to get an accurate blaster, and a replacement detonator. My detonator came over trimmed, and my repair jobs are lacking. Other than that I'm all set.

First off a big thanks goes out to Nathan and James for running a clean and straightforward election, and Paul for overseeing that he process went smoothly. I also want to thank the detachment members for having the confidence in me to take the helm of this great branch of the 501st. Just a few things Iām looking forward to in the next year. A huge reference section that will boggle the mind, Iāve already started collecting HD screen caps and behind the scenes references to kick start the project. Iād like to see the website portion of the detachment get expanded and let our elite brother be showcased to the masses. For the forum, I just want it to continue to grow as a place of learning for all, from troopers in training to the most veteran among us. The 2008 command staff is a combination of the veteran leadership with some new faces as well. -Paul Hoeffer, TK-8020 as XO. Paul returns to the command staff after a six-month leave of absence. It will be a great honor to have the FISD founder back on staff. Paul has been a long time advocate of high costuming standards for all costumes in the Legion. -Bernard Cushing TK-8280 is the new sergeant-at-arms. Everyone here knows him and over the last year plus Iāve come to greatly value his opinion. He truly embodies what the FISD is all about -Scott Magerfleisch TK-4149 as Deployment Officer. Scott has done an outstanding job as deployment officer and has agreed to continue in that role. Scottās insight in helping troopers attain elite status regardless of armor kit budget has been priceless to the many members here. Scott was the first FX elite trooper showing how great this armor can look with a bit of time and effort, and is an inspiration to elite-in-training troops everywhere. - Iām proud to announce a new position: FISD Merchandise Officer and Coordinator. The Merchandise Officer must approve any and all detachment merchandise before it can be submitted to the LMBO. Because there was no merchandise position before, we have two pillars of the community both involved in merchandise projects for the FISD. As an interim appointment Iām appointing Edward DaSilva TK-4878 as Merchandise Officer, and Wyatt Stephens TK-4205 as Merchandise Coordinator. I also want to thank the FISD site admin team, Paul Hoeffer , Gregory Mortensen, and Chris Romines for keeping this place running. I donāt know web programming or forum maintenance, and without these guys this place wouldnāt be possible (at least for me). We are always looking for ideas and suggestions. I have an open door policy for suggestions and feedback. Now lets have a great year, and get trooping. Terrell

Hengstler requirement
SuperTrooper replied to carbonitekid's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
The poll is in the 501st detachment only area. What's posted in that area stays in that area, but the hengstler requirement is still on the elite requirement page . -
Ed, you've done a great job with a new and growing detachment.

What kind of finishing glaze did you use?
-
That ebay link looks familiar: -----
-
At least the run is very minor. If it were me, I'd let it cure and wet sand then apply another coat or two. Were you applying the coats while tacky, or one at a time after the previous one cured?
-
Well post the link to the boots you saw on ebay, maybe one of us knows something.
-
These are great boots. Comes out to $71 with the current exchange rate and shipping. Then you get to turn them white. ----- You can't get any more accurate than that.
-
Most forum search engines have a 3 letter minimum. It's not ideal but it is what it is.
-
Here is a link to another thread all about CA boot sizes. Some of the feedback is from troopers who have not posted here yet. http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=488

Trimming isn't that hard, you could always contact a plastics supplier and buy a piece of scrap plastic or a full sheet if you have to and spend a few days practicing with a dremel, gluing and sanding. If it were me I'd go with the AP just because it's more accurate armor, and there is less of a wait to get it. Another idea to get some armor practice would be to get the FX lite kit. Then you would have a set of armor to get in the 501st and experience to jump right in to the AP, and sell the FX when done.

Filling the gaps on the ears
SuperTrooper replied to Ketariniii's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
Well gaps are accurate, but for those wanting to seal them up white caulk works well. Bright white DAP is a very close match for ABS.
