Dielotski's First Build - ANH Stunt [AM]
justjoseph63 replied to Dielotski's topic in ANH Build Threads
As long as they are comfortable and you have enough room, you can split the difference on each side. Just make sure the seam is in the center of each side and runs vertical and not at an angle. The bottoms can be trimmed as well. -
Another one to add to the list! Congrats to Colin (OddViking327) TK 25622 for earning his spot as Centurion # 485, leaving only 15 before we hit 500. Way to go Colin!

TK-25622 Requesting ANH Stunt Centurion Status (485)
justjoseph63 replied to OddViking327's topic in Request Centurion Status
Hi Colin, and thank you for your application for ANH Stunt Centurion! CRL and EIB Application Requirements: All required photos have been submitted, and on behalf of the entire D.O. staff we are pleased to welcome you to the rank of Centurion. Congratulations, brother! Other-Armor Fit/Assembly; In this area we review observations made by your fellow troopers and the DO team. Some observations may lead to suggestions to improve the overall look of your armor. Note that we consider both text (CRL) and pictures (screen caps/reference images) when reviewing submissions. WOW, brother.. a simply fantastic job on all those fixes! Outstanding work, sir, and it has certainly paid off in spades. Just a couple of suggestions to make that glorious set of shiny white armor look even better: As seen below, your posterior plate is really riding over the bottom of the kidney. It's certainly not the end of the world, lol, but it kind of throws off the overall appearance and adjusting it (hint hint, wink wink, nudge nudge) would give you a much better look. Glen (gmrhodes) has an awesome way to remedy this: This is not the biggest of deals, but is coming from more from a comfort standpoint. As seen in the reference images below, there is a distinct gap between the tops of the thighs and the cod area. Removing some of the tops as suggested will also give you a lot more mobility and a closer screen-accurate look. Trust me on this one. And that does it! Welcome to the ranks, Trooper, and congrats on being a part of the "Original 500" Centurions!! -
There are different threads for different types of builds, but the one you need is located here. Ideally the title should be along the lines of "Zinfer's Hero build". The reason being is that those in the future doing (or thinking of) that type of build (Hero) can reference it. You can look at some of the other ones located there to give you an idea of what to expect. Again, you can (and should) ask as many questions and post as many photos as you like. The more the merrier! Pics are especially important when you have an issue as it helps us help you better if we can see the problem. One word of advice- when in doubt, always ALWAYS ask before cutting or gluing.... trust me on that one.
-
Glen is spot on with the info. Rodney. RS has a sterling reputation as a vendor, and I have never heard of them not getting back in touch about an inquiry or issue and making things right. I know you are eager to get your armor completed, but hang in there.
-
Those of you who know me were probably waiting for this, lol, but I have a couple of suggestions if I may, Rodney. You have quite a bit of return edge(s) left on the biceps. While some folks like the thicker look it gives the armor, it can cut into you (especially after a few hours of trooping with your arms bent) and is actually not very screen-accurate. It will not affect approval at any level, but I personally suggest trimming it off or at least down a bit. Screen used armor examples The biceps as you have them below are also a little loose fitting. Some trimming (equally on both edges, front and rear) would help eliminate this. Go a little at a time until they are comfortable but not too snug, allowing for a free range of movement. BUT, if you do decide to remove the return edges, do that before final fitting/gluing. I have a thread here which will give you a bit more info. on return edges: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/48166-return-edges-101-ottk/?tab=comments#comment-670906 One thing I would strongly suggest at this point is to start a build thread for your whole kit. You have nailed adding photos so you are in good shape there, but if you have a thread that covers your entire build it will help us help you! You can ask all the questions you may will have (as many as you like), post up lots of photos and show off your progress all in one place! Doing this will not only help you/us keep track, but it can serve as a reference for others.

FISD Master Armorer Program - Overview
justjoseph63 replied to Daetrin's topic in FISD Master Armorer Program
Interesting point, Justin. I like to think I've helped one or two folks here on the FISD on occasion, but this was designed for a hands-on approach. Until we get into a safe zone this will probably not be awarded until we are post-pandemic sad to say. -
16 Left and going fast, folks. A hearty congrats to Ken (TK88667) for becoming # 484. WOO HOO!
-
Hi Ken, and thank you for your application for ANH Stunt Centurion! First, you did a spectacular job on this armor, Ken! Know that we really appreciate you jumping on those requests so fast, and that they turned out on a grand level. Just a few items here that would improve your overall look even more. All are fast and easy, and I hope they are something you will consider! Fantastic (and QUICK) fix on those ear screws, but if you can get away with loosening the bottom ones up a bit it would help eliminate the distortion on the ABS. The reason for the concern is that if they are too tight, they can possible pull through the opening (especially as seen in the second pic below), ruining the ear completely. I have seen this happen, so just something to be aware of. Ideally, they should be countersunk of course, but not all the way... juuuust enough to hold the ear in place. Reference images Your TD is riding pretty high, and could be dropped down to where the top is more in line with the top of the belt. It may be that it just isn't pushed down completely or the clips may need to be bent/shifted some. It's these small issues that count in the big picture, so something to consider when you suit up. Reference images As mentioned earlier, the sides of your sniper knee plate would benefit from 5 minutes with a Dremel and some sandpaper to give a sharper angle at the curve. Reference images And that's it, sir! Now that you have that Centurion badge under your name and are part of the "Original 500", I sincerely hope you will consider sticking around the forums and helping those who are on their way to having an awesome set of armor like you do!

Only 17 spots left, folks! A big congrats to Dennis (AradunFF), TK 60446 for becoming number 483. Way to go, brother, and welcome to the ranks!

TK-60446 Requesting Centurion Status (ANH Stunt) (483)
justjoseph63 replied to Aradun's topic in Request Centurion Status
Hi Dennis, and thank you for your submission for ANH Stunt Centurion, CRL and EIB Application Requirements: All required photos have been submitted, and on behalf of the entire D.O. staff we are pleased to welcome you to the rank of Centurion. Congratulations! Other-Armor Fit/Assembly; In this area we review observations made by your fellow troopers and the DO team. Some observations may lead to suggestions to improve the overall look of your armour. Note that we consider both text (CRL) and pictures (screen caps/reference images) when reviewing submissions. What can I say, brother? This is one of those rare instances where I am speechless, lol. The way you not only jumped on those requests so fast but did it in fine style has done you proud, so all I can say at this point is well done, sir. Well done indeed Centurion #483! -
AWESOME news, brother! I know having to get new armor pieces is a pain (believe me). My first kit was the old AM style from years ago and I had to replace the chest, kidney and butt plate for Level 3 (along with a lot of other fixes) so I feel your pain... it'll be worth it, though. Looking forward to seeing the new photos and as always, if we can be of any help, just ask!
-
Congrats on your RS purchase, Svante! Since a set of armor is a large investment, I highly suggest starting your own build thread here on the FISD. That way, you can post lots of photos during your build (which is especially helpful if you have a problem) and ask us anything you need to. Here are some links that may help: 1. Supply list- Here 2. Build thread forum- Here 3. 501st CRLs- Here 4. CRL Quick Reference- Here 5. Posting photos- Here Always, always ALWAYS feel free to ask any questions you may have, Svante... we are here to help every step of the way!

Hi Ken, and THANKS for submitting for Centurion! You went above and beyond on those fixes, brother, and the seams look fantastic. Unfortunately, there are 2 issues that we noticed... one that may need to be addressed and one super quick fix. It may very well be the photo angles, but your ear screws really appear to have a convex curve on the tops (Truss head) as opposed to the flat, counter-sunk type required for Level 3. Can you post up some close-up/side views for us? Reference images If they are indeed the Truss head type, you can find the correct flat-head, slotted countersunk style at ACE hardware (link here to ones in SoCal) or any specialty hardware store (Lowe's or Home Depot do not normally carry them). Alternatively, I can shoot you a set (no charge) if you pay postage (about 4 bucks). PM me if you need this option. As Glen pointed out, as per the CRL for Centurion "The corners of the plastic ammo belt shall be trimmed at a 45 degree angle that meets the outer edge of the cloth belt" We see this on occasion, but you are fortunate in the fact that you have enough material at the ends to effectively trim them without going too close to the button plates (exactly as he has shown in his diagram). EASY fix with a pair of tin-snips or a couple of careful cuts with a razor knife... should take you all of 5 minutes! Reference images Looking sharp, sir, and I look forward to seeing the updated results soon... you can do this!

TK60446 Requesting ANH Stunt EIB Status [ATA] (1009)
justjoseph63 replied to Aradun's topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
Hi Dennis, and thank you for your application for Expert Infantry! CRL and EIB Application Requirements All required photos are now in and, after review, we are pleased to welcome you to EI! On behalf of the entire DO staff, congratulations!! Other-Armor Fit/Assembly In this area we review observations made by your fellow troopers and the DO team. Some observations may lead to suggestions to improve the overall look of your armor. Note that we consider both text (CRL) and pictures (screen caps/reference images) when reviewing submissions. First, I gotta' say that your determination (and speed) on taking care of the requested fixes mentioned so far has been phenomenal! Just a couple of items here... nothing major that will affect Level 3 approval, but if you have the time and want to address them that would be great! In looking at your ears, you seem to have quite a bit of extra material at the bottoms. In a perfect world they should be a bit thinner and have more of a taper. Not a biggie, just something worth mentioning. Reference images You did a wonderful job on the overlap issue, but now it's time to make sure that the posterior plate doesn't ride out. A simple strapping adjustment will take care of this. Reference images As pointed out earlier, ideally the to screws on your TD should be closer to the ends of the clip. Reference image Centurion Requirements In this section we prepare you for Centurion. More photos may be requested in the future that allow us to make better decisions on possible adjustments. If there are any areas of concern they will be discussed here. Because Centurion photos show much more detail than EIB, items to pertaining to Centurion might be seen there and not here. We try to point out all that we can from what is seen, but the final accuracy is the responsibility of the trooper Not a lot to see here, but a few important items that I feel completely confident that you can handle! I get the feeling they are present, but due to the angles of the photos I can't see the thin white elastic bands that go over the shoulder straps/back plate tabs. A few close-up pics if when you submit for Centurion would be perfect! Reference images There are 2 items here that can be addressed with one fix, brother. In the first photo you have a gap, but the tops of your ab/kidney line up perfectly. In the second image, the gap is pretty much gone but the tops are a bit askew. In essence, the tops need to line up and the gap should not be present. Reference images This is what I would suggest: I noticed you have no strapping on the left side (photos 1-2) of the ab/kidney connection as you do on the right side (photo 4) so I would add at least 2 straps (photo 3) to not only eliminate the gap but keep them lined up just right. 1 2 3 4 Although not mentioned specifically in the CRLs, the ends of your thigh ammo pack extend a bit too far back. Ideally, the ends should be slightly in front of the rear ridge corners at the bottom of the thigh. 5 careful minutes with a razor knife, tin-snips or your wife's kitchen shears (on second thought, maybe not the shears, lol) and you are in good shape! Reference images And that's it! Awesome job on this armor, sir, and again, thanks for jumping on those earlier requests so fast . Next up, Level 3, and although you have a bit of work in front of you, I hope to see that submission soon so that we can get you into the "Original 500" Centurions! -
TK60446 Requesting ANH Stunt EIB Status [ATA] (1009)

That is the funniest thing I have read in a long time, Dennis! You really are hardcore, sir, and thank Heaven wives can't Force choke, lol. Screens turned out incredible, so I will be finishing up this afternoon or tomorrow a.m. (Thanksgiving duties await). -

justjoseph63 replied to Aradun's topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
OK Dennis, this is my fault plain and simple so I must apologize in advance for missing this before. You have done an absolutely incredible job in jumping on the requested fixes brother (and know that we appreciate it) but as I was working on your application I just noticed that your Hovi-tip screen mesh is not correct. As per the CRL for Level 2 it must be the wide type mesh. I know Mario @TKSpartan has a tutorial on this, so I would hit him up for some advice. It's a pretty quick fix once you have the material and 10 minutes of time, and you are SO CLOSE!! We got faith in ya' sir, and I am honestly looking forward to awarding you your EI badge soon because I know Centurion will be your next step! -

justjoseph63 replied to Aradun's topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
Lookin' sharp, Dennis, and great job on that butt plate fix! One last thing before I can get started, sir... the paint on your teeth needs to be dialed back a bit. As per the CRL for Basic approval, the "Frown is painted gray and does not leave the teeth area". This is actually a very common issue and a pretty easy fix! I suggest using Goof-Off (a citrus based paint remover), a toothpick or two and a few cotton swabs to remove the extra parts at the top. 10-15 minutes of work on this and you will be golden! Looking forward to seeing the updated pics so we can get that EI badge under your name, trooper! Reference images -
NICE JOB on those updates, Alex! Glen has a few points to think seriously about, and I will echo him on those... at Level 3 it's all about the details, brother. One thing I noted is that your drop boxes are wandering inward a bit. A few dabs of E-6000 behind the rear of the straps (once they are in the correct position) will eliminate this.
-
Hi Josh. and thank you for your submission for Centurion! Our apologies for the delay, but there are several items that will need to be addressed before we can get that badge under you name, trooper. While some items below may not be specifically mentioned in the CRL, it does state that we "....must consider both text and pictures (CRL and reference) when reviewing" a set of armor. First up, we need you to remove some of the paint on the lower "teeth". As per Basic requirement: "Paint shall not leave the teeth area". Easy fix!' Reference images Since this RT MOD kit was made before 2018 when they updated the bucks (molds), the ab button plates are integrated into the actual ab. This is one of the reasons they updated them, as the plates must be separate pieces. (Super nice pint job on the buttons, by the way)! Reference images Not to worry, this is not only possible to fix, but has been done before as seen in the first image below. You should be able to get a set of replacement plates from RT MOD, so it would just be a matter of carefully cutting out the centers, trimming the new ones and gluing them on. RT MOD Centurion from 2016 showing fix The next few concern your ABS/canvas belt. As per the CRL for level 3, "The corners of the plastic ammo belt shall be trimmed at a 45 degree angle that meets the outer edge of the cloth belt". It looks like the corners were trimmed a bit too much, sad to say. Reference images At this point you have a 2 options.. you may be able to trim off the ends of the ABS belt a bit, as long as they don't come too close to the edge(s) of the button squares. Alternatively, you could purchase a new belt. Last up in this area we have 2 concerns. The CRL for Centurion states that the "Canvas belt must be firm/sturdy in appearance. No creasing or sagging". A large crease can be seen on the lower part that extends around the back (red arrow). The second issue is the staining (blue arrow). A few marks/scuffs are to be expected, but the color of the stains on each side are pretty prominent and a big contrast to the bright white above them. Reference images Finally, I gotta' say that is one of the sharpest looking blasters I have seen come through in a long time, but the Hengstler counter will need to be moved forward to where the rear lines up nearer the rear bolt of the folding stock. Removing the scope rail and re-positioning the mounting screws forward should do the trick. We realize you have some work ahead of you, but none of these items are insurmountable and we feel confident that you can address these issues in fine style. Know that we are here to help or if you have any questions on your way to Centurion!

Hi Michael, and thank you for your application for ANH Stunt Expert Infantry! Always a pleasure to see a nice set of RS Props armor, and yours in no exception, sir! Only a few suggestions in this area, and all are super easy to take care of so let's get started! As noted in your thread above, the ab and kidney rivets could definitely us another coat or two of white paint to eliminate that grayish look. Reference images It probably just got caught up a bit, but when getting suited up watch that the drop boxes stay positioned below your ABS belt. This is an issue we se a LOT, (commonly referred to as "Trooper butt"). Not the biggest of deals but we suggest that you tighten up the posterior plate/kidney strapping to bring them closer into alignment. Reference images Centurion Requirements In this section we prepare you for Centurion. More photos may be requested in the future that allow us to make better decisions on possible adjustments. If there are any areas of concern they will be discussed here. Because Centurion photos show much more detail than EIB, items to pertaining to Centurion might be seen there and not here. We try to point out all that we can from what is seen, but the final accuracy is the responsibility of the trooper. In this area the first two items are just strapping issues, but the second two will require some work and a decision or two... The overall fit of your armor is actually quite good, but we need you to shorten the straps that hold your shoulder bells to the shoulder bridge. The top of the bell should be as close as possible to the bridge as seen below in the reference images for a much better screen accurate look. Reference images As mentioned in the CRL for Level 3, the back plate should have "...no, or minimal overlap of the kidney plate". Although very close, we would rather see a small gap as opposed to any sort of overlap. Loosening up the elastic just a tad would do the trick. It's these small items that make the difference between a nice looking set of armor and a spectacular one! Reference images As mentioned in the CRL, "Ideally there is no gap between the abdomen and kidney armor". I honestly don't think you need shims, and tightening either your belt or the straps should put you in good shape. Reference images This may be a tough one... As per the CRL for Level 3, "The corners of the plastic ammo belt shall be trimmed at a 45 degree angle that meets the outer edges of the cloth belt". It looks as if the 45 degree angles were trimmed a bit too much, especially on the tops. This is causing them not to meet the requirement. You may be able to trim the ends, but then you risk them being too close to the adjacent buttons. I personally would get a new belt, but that is your call. Reference images Last up is the placement of the rivets on your thigh ammo pack. This is an all-too-common issue with RS commission builds... I have tried to address it with them to no avail. They make some of the finest armor there is, but this particular aspect of their builds continues to be something we have to address time and time again. There are certain instances where we can give a little leeway, but since these particular rivets actually appear to be so far in the corner that they extend over the edge of the ammo pack we are asking that they be moved. In looking at the reference images, note that the ones used onscreen look a lot smaller in diameter as well. One alternative would be to remove the old rivets and place the new ones to where the edge actually covers the holes. If you need new single cap rivets just PM me and I will get a set to you (no charge). Reference images And that's it, brother. You have some work and a few decisions ahead of you, but we feel with 100% certainty that you can address these items, bring this awesome set of armor to the next level and be a part of the "Original 500" Centurions! If you need help, we are here for ya'!

"Legend" sort of says it all. Well done my friend, and know that we all appreciate everything you do!
