  1. Wow, you are on FIRE with these fixes, Lluis! WELL DONE! I'm sure they turned out great, but the updated photos of the traps/ear bars are taken from a distance, so if you could post some clear close-up pics to show off your work that would be terrific!
  2. Hi Michael, and thanks for your submission! I am working on your submission, so hang in there, sir.
  3. UPDATE! It looks like we are one step closer! While doing our research, we somehow we missed issuing a Centurion number to Charles Ecton (Templar726-TK 72627) for his insanely cool Death Trooper armor (link here) in 2016. We have rectified that, and he is now Centurion #478. With the recent addition of Rob T., that puts us at only 21 spaces remaining...... getting close now, so get those submissions in soon!
  4. Hi Rob, and thank you for your application for Centurion! CRL and Centurion Application Requirements All required photos are now in and, after review, we are pleased to welcome you to Centurion! On behalf of the entire DO team, congratulations! Other-Armor Fit/Assembly In this area we discuss areas that could benefit from additional improvement. Note that we consider both text (CRL) and pictures (screen caps/reference images) when reviewing submissions. All that hard work and fixes have paid off, brother! A truly great set of armor you have there no doubt, and we appreciate all the extra effort you have put in. The only small things I see are a few issues which should be a breeze for you to take care of! As seen below, the right bicep is riding down a bit more than the left, and raising the forearm as well would help even out the gaps between the wrist and hand guard. The fronts look great, but the back tops of the thighs could definitely be cut down some. Do they make a "clicking" noise when you walk? Even if not, it would give you more mobility. Reference images The cover strip on the rear of the right thigh should ideally come all the way to the top. Cutting them down as suggested above would take care of this as well. Reference images Last up, to be a lot more screen accurate, the mobility cuts on the rear of your calves should be more of a rounded shape as opposed to angular. Reference images And that's it! Well done, Trooper As soon as you can start trooping again, you will make the mighty UKG proud as it's newest Centurion!
  5. Hi Justin, and thank you for your FOURTH application for Centurion! You are getting to be an old hand at this, lol! CRL and Centurion Application Requirements All required photos are now in and, after review, we are pleased to welcome you to Centurion! On behalf of the DO team and myself, many congratulations! Other-Armor Fit/Assembly In this area we discuss areas that could benefit from additional improvement. Note that we consider both text (CRL) and pictures (screen caps/reference images) when reviewing submissions. We really appreciate all the work you have put in on your fixes brother, so nothing to add here except a hearty congratulations! Now that you have your FOURTH Centurion award I gotta' ask.. what's next?!
  6. The Nomex type of gloves are 100% acceptable for Basic approval. but not for Expert Infantry and above,
  7. Hi Jonas, and thank you for your application for Centurion! CRL and Centurion Application Requirements All required photos are now in and, after review, we are pleased to welcome you to Centurion! On behalf of the DO team and myself, many congratulations! Other-Armor Fit/Assembly In this area we discuss areas that could benefit from additional improvement. Note that we consider both text (CRL) and pictures (screen caps/reference images) when reviewing submissions OK brother, after all your hard work your goal has been reached! But.. there are a couple of issues we would like to address. Nothing too crazy, but things we know you can handle. 1. Although they are lined up perfectly in the front and the gaps are spot-on, the rear photo shows your thighs as being uneven and they have way different sized gaps. Either they shifted during your photo shoot or you could really use some trimming on the top front of the right side. This is also apparent on the sides in your "arms raised" pics. To even them out and give you a MUCH sharper look, I would suggest trimming off the top of the front right thigh and then raising it to where it matches the left. A simple dressing issue here and a common problem... your sniper knee plate is twisted off to the left. This can be easily fixed by adding some foam padding inside to keep in snug you your calf and will also help your cover strip alignment. And that's it! Over the course of your build you and I have been in constant contact via PM, and you have really stepped up to the plate with all the suggestions that have been offered. I honestly hope you will once again do your magic and take the final steps in making this one truly awesome set of armor!
  8. As for the decals. it's up to you. Hand-painting is great, and if you have the skills and a steady hand I highly suggest going that route. Speaking of painting, as Glen mentioned the paint on many of the teeth needs to be taken back a bit before one of us starts your EI review. Although many GMLs miss this item, it is actually a requirement for Basic approval: "Frown is painted gray and does not leave the teeth area" 10 careful minutes with some Q-tips, toothpicks and a NON ACETONE paint remover and you are good to go. I suggest Goof-Off, which is a citrus based paint remover and is available in tiny bottles, often at the Dollar Store.
  9. I'm actually OK with the spacing.
  10. If you can post up some photos of the areas where you need to alter it we may be able to help, especially if you used E-6000 for the joins. Trimming can be pretty straightforward... shimming is a whole different animal.
  11. WOW.. super nice job on those fixes, sir! I am hopefully assuming you will be aiming for Centurion, and there is something I noticed about your bucket decals... the ones you currently have do not look like the ones AM normally includes with their kits As per the CRL for Level 3, "Tears/traps shall be hand painted or use decals that emulate hand painted..", and yours look a little too "perfect" in comparison with those seen onscreen. BUT, if you are willing to change them out, I have a complete spare set of current AM decals that I will send to you (no charge),. Just shoot me your shipping info. via PM if interested. Yours Reference images AM** Yours Reference images AM** **P.S. The photos of the AM decals appear lighter because of the camera flash, but they are actually the correct color.
  12. Same here, especially since we are holding a weapon most of the time so the palms can't really be seen.
  13. If you PM me some detailed photos of how you have it mounted I can give you some pointers on how best to tackle this.
  14. Hi Colin, and thank you for your application for Expert Infantry!! CRL and EIB Application Requirements All required photos are now in and, after review, we are pleased to welcome you to EI! On behalf of the entire DO staff, congratulations!! Other-Armor Fit/Assembly In this area we review observations made by your fellow troopers and the DO team. Some observations may lead to suggestions to improve the overall look of your armor. Note that we consider both text (CRL) and pictures (screen caps/reference images) when reviewing submissions. Overall a spectacular build you have here brother! Just a few items in this area, so let's get to it! It's obvious you have some mad painting skills, but we are asking for a few quick touch-ups to make it look even better! Although you got the tops nailed perfectly, the front of the right one, the rear of the left one and both bottoms could definitely be thinned out with some gray paint to make them more uniform all the way around. Reference images While you have your paints out, we are requesting that you define the tops of the ridges on your vocoder a bit more. Reference images Depending on how screen accurate you want to be, we suggest trimming down the top and bottom of the ABS belt. It doesn't need to go all the way down to the edges of the raised boxes... as a matter of fact I would leave a small amount to inhibit cracking at the edges, but it could definitely be reduced. This means that the drop boxed would need to be raised a bit. Reference images As mentioned in the comments, your TD caps are pretty wide in comparison with what was seen onscreen. Hopefully you put these on using just pressure and not glue. This is not a deal breaker, but if you DO decide (hint hint) to reduce the width, the clips will have to be moved over/out as well. You should have plenty of room so that the clips will cover the old screw holes. Reference images Centurion Requirements In this section we prepare you for Centurion. More photos may be requested in the future that allow us to make better decisions on possible adjustments. If there are any areas of concern they will be discussed here. Because Centurion photos show much more detail than EIB, items to pertaining to Centurion might be seen there and not here. We try to point out all that we can from what is seen, but the final accuracy is the responsibility of the trooper. Not too many issues here, but as you know we get a lot more into the small details that lead to better screen accuracy for Centurion. In looking at your build thread, I get the feeling you not only can you address these issues, but that you will have awesome results! The back view looks perfect, but from the front you will see gaps between the tops of the shoulder bells and the shoulder bridges. Shortening the elastic will eliminate this. Reference images Another issue that can be taken care of with a few strapping adjustments is your back/kidney overlap. Raising the back half an inch would get you where you need to be. Reference images In looking at the reference images below, we are asking that you raise it a little to at least cover more of the bottom of the ab-button plate(s). Ideally it should touch (or even overlap a bit) the bottom button(s). Reference images This is a common issue and an easy one to fix... Your right one is spot-on, but the outside edge of your left drop-box needs to align with the outside edge of the ABS belt. Moving it outward and then applying a dab of E-6000 on the rear of the strap will take care of this and keep it from wandering. Reference images As seen in the reference images, the clips on the TD do not extend beyond the bottom of the canvas belt. Some tin snips (or a hacksaw) and some low-grit sandpaper to smooth out the rough edges and you are good to go! Reference images Last up, I gotta' say that is one impressive blaster... you did a magnificent job getting rid of the 3D print lines! Also, GREAT job on the weathering... not too much, not too little. However, we are requesting that you move the Hengstler counter forward. The rear of the counter should line up with the rear bolt of the folding stock. Reference images And that's it, sir! Nothing listed above that you can't handle with those awesome build skills you have, so once you get those taken care of we fully expect to see that Centurion submission right after... and become a part of the "Original 500". Great job!
  15. My bad, sir... I just need clear/ somewhat close-ups of the belt(s) front and back.
  16. Welcome to the TRUE home of white armor, Garrett! Lots to learn here, but know that we are here for you every step of the way on your journey to becoming a shiny-white spaceman! Although most of your questions can be answered by going through our forums, always (and I mean ALWAYS) feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here for ya', future trooper!
  17. One word of advice at this point: PHOTOS, and lots of em'! I have a few tutorials located at the bottom of my avatar below, but one that may help you the most is this one: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/48335-quick-crl-reference-guide-for-your-ot-build-pics-notes-tips/ This will give you an idea of what not only to aim for but also what your GML (the person in your local Garrison/Squad who will approve you at Basic 501st approval) will be looking at once you get your armor finished. Hopefully you will consider aiming for Expert Infantry and then Centurion with your build! (Not as difficult as you may think)!
  18. Just saw your other thread re: ear placement, David. Although we prefer them to lay completely flat against the contours of the sides, as seen in the reference images below that just wasn't the case for many seen in the OT (Original Trilogy). ANH was made on a budget, and apparently the prop masters were not too picky, lol. Having some kind of gap is not the end of the world and actually sort of adds to their charm.
  19. Nice work so far, David! If I could make a suggestion, it would be to post up pics of the various pieces before you actually glue them. The reason being is that once that is done, it can be difficult to make any changes that would help with fitting issues. Never be shy about asking questions... the more the better! We are not here judge, but to help every step of the way. You obviously have posting photos down to a science, and since this is YOUR build thread always feel free to post as many pics as you can. Consider your build as a marathon and not a sprint. Take... your.... time..., ask for advice whenever you are in doubt and know that we are here for ya'!
  20. Fantastic to see that you are headed for Centurion, brother! I wish you had given me a heads up before whipping up the ABS paste, though.. " I can offer some tricks/tips for ya'... just PM me." The reason being is that when using it, less is better. I suggest using the absolute minimum you can... just enough to fill the gap/seam. When it comes time to sand it down (it's not as easy as you'd think) it will save a TON of time and there will be less of an area that you have to make shiny again with progressively finer grit sandpaper/polish. That being said, I know your determination and am sure it will come out looking awesome!
  21. Hi Daniel, and thank you for your application for Expert Infantry CRL and EIB Application Requirements All required photos are now in and, after review, we are pleased to welcome you to EI! On behalf of myself and the entire D.O. staff, congratulations!! Other-Armor Fit/Assembly In this area we review observations made by your fellow troopers and the DO team. Some observations may lead to suggestions to improve the overall look of your armor. Note that we consider both text (CRL) and pictures (screen caps/reference images) when reviewing submissions. First, I have to say SUPER nice job overall on this build, sir... your attention to detail is fantastic! There are a few items in this section that we feel could use some of that TLC that you used on the rest of your armor, so let's get started! 1. The paint on your vocoder looks pretty good, but it should be more symmetrical with more definition on the tops of the raised ridges. Easy fix!! Reference images 2. Just a simple strapping issue here, but it looks like your right bicep is riding a bit higher than the left one, creating different sized gaps. Raising it an inch or so would make a big difference in the overall look and even out the spacing. 3. This one is a little more complicated.. The left thigh is riding up under (and over) the posterior plate (photo 1). BUT, since you do not have the space to lower it (photo 2) I am suggesting that you trim off the top a little to give you a better gap there. They also sit at different heights, so I am also recommending that you trim off some of the top of the rear of the right one and raise it up so that they sit at the same height. The front image (photo 3) shows that you have some room there to raise it and this will give you a more symmetrical look. 1. 2. 3. Reference image 4. At present, your mobility cuts are pretty angled. Not all troopers seen in the film(s) had them, but those that did had more of a rounded finish. An easy fix with a Dremel tool, but be careful not to go below the bottom of the raised ridge. Since Centurion is the top tier, we look a lot closer at the small details, Daniel. Starting from the top.. You have a few issues with your Anovos helmet, but none that can't be remedied! The tube stripes are much too far away from the cheek. There should only be a "pencil width" gap between them. If you (hopefully) decide to go for Centurion and can remove the existing stripes, I will send you a set of decals to replace them (no charge, just PM me). Reference images This is an issue I have not seen before on an Anovos helmet: Normally, their ears have the correct screws on the top and center and an incorrect one (round head) on the bottom. However, in your case that is reversed. For level 3, all ear screws must be "...slotted, flat head and countersunk". The bottom ones are fine, but the top 2 on each side will need to be replaced. Reference image Although your ab-button paint is correct in the fact that it stays above the raised area of the actual button, the edges are pretty ragged and need to be rounded out more. Reference images Another easy strapping issue here... as per the CRL, there should be no gap between the ab/kidney connection. Just tighten up your belt a bit and you are golden! Reference images The fitment on the rest of your armor is textbook, but unfortunately the biceps are pretty large and will need to be reduced in circumference. Requirements for all 501st costumes are proportional to the wearer in scale, fit and size. It's just a matter of popping off the rear cover strip, cutting the sides down and re-gluing them. Should take you all of 15-20 minutes + dry time for the E-6000. As Glen mentioned, you have a lot of seepage of E-6000 in a couple of areas. This is the easiest fix EVER! Just CAREFULLY use a razor knife to lightly cut along the edges of the cover strip and then use your thumb to rub off the glue. For Level 3, your hand guards must be of the flexible type. Reference images And last up: As per the CRL, Hasbro blasters (even modified) are not permitted. As I mentioned earlier, you did a wonderful job on this armor, sir. Hopefully you can spare an hour or two to take care of the issues above and we will see your submission for Centurion soon! I have faith in ya', brother, and if we can be of any help, just ask....
  22. Working on your application right now, Colin, but could you post up 2 more photos for me? I need one of the back and one of the front. No need to get suited up! Thanks!
  23. Hang in there, Daniel, I'll be with you VERY shortly!
  24. Other than what Glen mentioned, I see nothing holding you back from Basic and even Expert Infantry) approval, Mark! Fantastic job on this armor sir, and lots of attention to detail. SO glad to see you removed most of the return edges! If I could make one small suggestion (that will not affect approval at any level) it would be to trim down or at least round off the corners of the rear of your forearms. Depending on how sharp they are they can snag on your undersuit.
