  1. TE has a bad reputation. while ATA has a stellar reputation!
  2. the FISD is awesome! sad news, but it looks like the admins of this site have all of this under control. it's for this reason why members should be proud of this detachment!
  3. this thing is SO SO close to being "exact" only a few more details and it will be perfect! on some of the pics it looks like there's a handle on the top. lot's of subtle differences depending upon the version you're looking at... nice...
  4. I have to say that I've seen some of the variations here that come from different games, in the screenshots for the HWT. the cannon, and pack are the details that I'm looking for. when I look at the screen shot for BFII on the playstation 2, that seems to be the version I want. the other versions seem to be from SWgalaxies, BFII on the xbox and such. subtle variations exist in print, and on the different platforms. BFII on the PSII is the version I'm used to seeing! there are lot's of details on this one: by putting together, the texture, the rendering in the model viewer, and this 3/4 view from the top, there's lots of details that seem to be missing from the base texture file you've posted in it's un mapped version...
  5. I have seen all of those, and while they are all great packs... I'm looking for the video game look specifically! you really do great work there john. I've spoken with you before. when I look at more screencaps I see more dimension to the parts I'm looking to replicate! out of the many screen caps, and variations I see on the video game stuff, this photo looks to be the closest to the variation I'm looking at: with this awesome texture: as you can see, the texture element is missing some of the mapped details. but I can see one blue container, a modified radio section, a tower looking thing with angles a box with horizontal vents, a few small boxes with details on them. lot's of little details not seen so far on any replica or variant pack.
  6. thing you want to keep in mind is that E-11's should have bumpy tubes, and smooth grips. the grips are even a little shiny, but the tube and all parts are matte flat black and have a subtle bumpy finish which comes from the metal finish that the prop dept just sprayed flat black over. the T Tracks should be solid and not rubber, and they should be smooth flat in finish. putting any silver details on the grips section just adds that "sterling" look. especially if the bolt has a silvered and blued steel color. the other parts are all steel colors for the 'silver' parts.
  7. I was gathering parts to see what kind of variation would run for a videogame style pack. here's a few photos of my stuff so far. here's the original one thanks to vincent! here's a couple more photos showing some variation and added cases. it's going to be tough, because the more I look at it, I'm just going to have to scratch build it from the most basic shapes. it's a military style frame flipped upside down: this allows for it to have a square top, and the bottom curves out for the thermal detonator to fit below it. two plastic containers as a starting point for modeling foam and other stuff. some example PVC pipes, in different sizes, and I'm just now getting ready to figure out what elements I'm going to put on, and what I'm not going to have. does anyone have any photographic suggestions for parts that would replicate the video game style pack as closely as possible, without it looking like plumbing parts, or such... I'm looking for ideas here... and I'll be sharing my thoughts here in this thread. so cmon troops... give me your interpretation of the video game pack here! post photos and help me decide which way to go... it's a team effort
  8. nice job built on one of my PVC pipes built with T Tracks, and bolt milling breech and cocking channel. like karin says, to knock down the shine, just hit it with a slight matte clear coat. you can usually get that type of paint at hobby shops, or at your local home store. I'm glad your build is looking so good. if you need help with an aluminum sight rail, and mountings for the scope and hengstler, I can show photos, or even help you with the actual parts... just PM me for more info. you can also knock down the shine with some detailed sanding and such. just scratching it lightly with some 900-1200 grit can also make it happen.
  9. thanks john... you kick tie
  10. I'd say EIB approved. but it's not my call. one AB button? a loose belt? lot's of us have loose belts!
  11. want to know more? yes yes yes!
  12. hello john, those look really good! where did the original photos come from? thx!
  13. if you mod it, don't take it fully apart. just drill out the mic tips, fill all seams with putty. and use the inside drill out concept for removing the ears. taking care to remove the micro screws that hold the ear caps on from the inside. once the caps are removed, and the mic tips are removed you'll need new brow trim, new lens material. and new neck trim. making the ear caps smaller and filling in the seams requires keeping the notch at the top in the same basic shape but thinner. putting the helmet back together requires a strong epoxy filler since the helmet flexes at the side seams near the temples. you'll have to fill the seams at the temples from the inside and the outside to "try" to keep the lid from flexing. if someone pushes hard on the helmet it can crack the filler at the temples. after that you need a full repaint and re decal.
  14. blasters are only shipped to locations where completed toy guns can legally ship.

  15. one screw also works. and you can turn the whole process around, and put the nut into the base of the scope, then the scope rail, is the only thing with a hole all the way through. nice tutorial!
  16. AP had to take from 11/10 til jan 30 11 off. if you can understand that, then you know what's happening. he will ship. I also have products waiting, but I'm patient! don't bash the man during the holiday season. he has a regular job, and holidays take up all our extra time for hobby based projects. imagine what the weather is like in canada right now. AP does not do the work in a home based shop. and everything from plastics deliveries, to vac forming delays can slow down, and backlog during october through december to a point where you cannot fill the orders due to the problems that come from all the details in producing armor.
  17. I want to thank you for my helmet collection.

    Awesome work.

  18. oh... you know... get a better helmet is my first thought. but then again, you should be able to find somewhere you can get the part you're missing.
  19. ah... the latest holy grail! sure wish there was someone with an MGC that would cast up the trigger group, end cap, bolt and rails. would be nice to have a "doopy Do's style resin kit to make replicas of this bad boy! any chance of that fil? I'd even help pay for the mould materials? happy new year! I have the MGC, now all I need is the clip? PM for detailed photos fil.
  20. he shows his process for making a new buck. the old 1976 buck is shown in the video sitting next to this one he's created. he did not lose the helmet bucks in the shop fire. his design was taken from liz and needed to be resculpted to add the details for the vocoder and other elements. AA is the person who created the original bucks for the armor, and he IS the person responsible for making over 50 plus suits for ANH that is a FACT! there is no reason to suspect that he originated the design, he simply had to make changes to the sculpts for the materials he's using to complete the design. he sculpted the ears to cover the gaps, and saw and took measurements and ideas from the moore sculpt and made changes. he did not simply recast the liz moore sculpt, he had to change the shape to allow it to be a forming buck. lots of people don't understand the situation, and make AA out to be lying... I don't think that he's doing anything except trying to explain that he created a derivitave work because of the industrial process needed to create the design. on the front page of the reception center there is a caption stating "weird post ANH helmet" and that helmet is a pre production model where he was trying to introduce a new concept into the back cap undercut. that design was rejected by lucas, and he went back to the smooth cap n back for the rest of the helmets. there is no reason at all to think that AA didn't work on the original films. he is the man who did what the studio originally could not acomplish. AA never claims to have created the original design, he's just showing the differences he needed to make to turn another sculptors work into a forming tool.
  21. a freakin GALLON! what cha gonna make with that? an ATAT?
  22. sand and paint, and sand and paint, and sand and paint. takes about 1 week per coat.
  23. perhaps mark can be of help?
