  1. My first time in Hawaii and I got lei'd twice in six hours - I think I'll never leave! The Pacific Outpost had a welcoming dinner and were very gracious. A real fun and growing group - I'll bet they'll be a garrison soon enough. Then it was off to dip my toes in the ocean. Tony's been a very welcoming host in allowing me this break: Tonight we troop! More pix to follow...
  2. Awesome! I 100% agree about the thighs - it's an area most people neglect to their shame. Can't wait for an Elite submission soon
  3. All set gents! Be sure to check out the swimming pool Let's see some Elite apps soon ;-)
  4. Yup, that's the best philosophy to have. None of this was intended to make sense, and most of the "back stories" that are created are just fluff and make no sense whatsoever. I saw the film when ot came out in '77 and prefer to stick with what Lucas wrote and envisioned at the time, not the dross about TK's that was created later.
  5. Absolutely!
  6. Yeah. In truth it may end up being like the SE-14R - an approved EU accessory, nothing more.
  7. Pretty serious strapping! Man, reminds me that I need to re-do mine :-p
  8. Since it's essentially a TK with accessories it would be here in FISD. I believe they are regular TK's (hard to see if the frown is ANH or ESB) with light sabers. That's the intent of what they are, and if the ab plate buttons are black it's probably just a lack of color palette on the artists rendering. The sources would have to be submitted to the FISD for consideration, and if the FISD approves it would go to the Legion Council for approval/disapproval. A Shadowtrooper (below) is certainly SpecOps territory.
  9. I'm completing the assembly of my recently re-created TD (thanks Mike!) and will be weathering it. Otherwise, I have a sick child who will take up my time.
  10. Sorry for not chiming in earlier - this is a fantastic thread and I can't wait for more pix. The paint job is fantastic. This is going to be one killer kit when you're done with it. Troop on!
  11. Maybe some foam if you need to add padding. I'd add some sand paper for after you make a cut with a dremel. Add also some mesh for your frown. Lots of clamps.
  12. You can use the UA site to find a UA dealer near you. Most athletic stores sell them - e.g. anyone who supplies little leagues, soccer leagues, etc. That's what I did.
  13. All Cheng's should be patent leather. Swingman's usually are under $100 - someone's definitely getting ripped off on the 'Bay. OTOH, I can see paying $175 for a *real* pair of MC's. Worth every penny, IMHO.
  14. Agreed. Star Wars is still my favorite as it was the first one that came out, and perhaps I'm old enough that the more epic feels resonates. That said, I think most are in agreement that ESB is the best of the lot, for the reasons you cited.
  15. True enough. He got loads of pushback on Star Wars and he had to re-write it again and again. Not as much with Empire, but still people pushed. Now as noted, it's an all George show and he's not perfect.
  16. I'm enjoy both, and am grateful that we have hobbiests pursuing both lines of thought. Each has their own special appeal, IMHO. It would be horrible to force people to one side or the other. We're a costuming club after all, so why not appreciate all aspects of this hobby?
  17. Yup. Some people use more foam than others. Most people use gray, but I've used white as well. ANH (AP, TE2, etc.) I've found requires more foam to get it to hang/look right. I have some in my back plate, butt plate (I have no an impolite person), and biceps. On my FX I just use a little in my forearms. Some really skinny people even wear a muscle suit underneath.
  18. And thanks everyone for keeping it civil! It's wonderful not to have to edit posts or suspend members.
  19. Preferably something that exists on earth. Luke, Ben, Owen are pretty common English names. I've never understood the need to make *everyone's* name in SciFi something funky. Can't we see a SW character named "George Stephens"?
  20. no tube stripes = not cool
  21. Doh! I've been through the big D too my friend (at 32) and thankfully there were no kids involved, but still it was a stressful process until I moved out and got set back up. Best wishes to you my friend!
  22. Fascinating! I don't even have a vac table but this is pretty cool information to learn about. It's pretty interesting to hear how our white armor is made
  23. Great screen cap TK + DLT-19 = supercool
  24. There are lots of folks just a mod or two away - these are simple and cheap fixes to do. If you gots time to troop, you gots time to go Elite!
