  1. Chris & Rich - all set guys! Welcome to the 501st The blast doors are open - enjoy the jacuzzi
  2. Sorry about that - currently there is no documented standard in the 501st that states this - it's just how it's always been, just like having these emblems on your pauldron is not acceptable for a sandtrooper. The 501st is still in the process of finally codifying much that has been unwritten, and that's where this detail will be added, as Terrell states.
  3. Looking good so far. I hate to tell you mate - that holster is not 501st acceptable though it's great for non-canon events. I suggest you get a cheapy holster for pix and canon events, then use this for anything else.
  4. Great - just what we need. I mean these helmets are pretty cheap already. What's he going to offer them at - $50 shipped?
  5. I sat on a bus. It depends on the seat - sometimes in cars the ab plate is not the issue - I have to unsnap the thighs and rotate them.
  6. Honestly - it makes no real sense for a stormtrooper to have one and Luke's armor conveniently is the only one that has the comlink + grapling hook. I'm sure the real reason is just that Uncle George needed a way for Luke to talk w/o a helmet on, and this was a simple fix script-wise.
  7. It's called "it's not supposed to be that kind of movie" (credit: Harrison Ford). Remember they were not worried about people picking apart every detail and looking for consistancy. One can make up whatever story they want, but in the end the plate is on the left because that's just how he designed the suit, they holster left handed because the Sterling's mag is on the left, and they hold it left handed for the reason just cited. They shoot right handed because most of the stunt men were right handed. It's like the question: Why do the stormtroopers get increasingly bad aim throughout the trilogy? Because that's what's written in the script * * e.g. because the people writing it concentrated more on the story and didn't worry about such things.

    Hit and run

Gimme a call if you need to bro! Man, this sucks. Actually since you weren't at fault your policy should be unchanged. At least, mine never did when I was in the same situation. The main thing is you guys are unhurt. That would be the worst.
  9. No. You can also get them from Dan111h20 on Ebay. Or the easiest route - just buy a pair of jodhpur boots (most anywhere carries them) and dye them white. This is what they did for the movies, and what I'm using now.
  10. I'd say as long as it looks correct, it will be fine.
  11. Excellent armor Can't wait - shouldn't take much bro!
  12. Are you on Vista? I've seen this on my Vista machine, but I'm running FF3 on several XP boxes and haven't had that problem on them.
  13. Absolutely! Great to see more Stealth Troopers move to more accurate looking armor Kev - I know what you mean. As DL of FISD I had to set the example too which is why I went TE2. I'm sure your TX when done will be fantastic! Great sharing guys - these are great
  14. He is one of many FX resellers. The first question you should ask is: 1) What kind of armor is best for me -> accuracy level -> budget -> physical size -> material -> skills necessary to put together This kind of research can take weeks and sometimes longer. There is a wealth of information on this forum and judicious use of the search button or even just browsing relevant topics can answer 90% of your questions, and save you from being the guy who asked the same question every else asks After doing some research - like I said it normally takes people a few weeks or reading around...you'll be better enabled to understand the terms and acronyms used, and what the variations are. 2) Now that you know the type of armor you want, where to get it Chances are you'll have figured this out by now, but if not you'll find a few judicious posts or PMs can take care of a lot. 3) Hook up with your local garrison. Every garrison is different - some are really helpful to new people, some aren't - but even if they aren't (and that's why detachments are great - we're always helpful!) you'll eventually be trooping with these folks so you might as well start making friends. Anything else - just let us know! FWIW, $800 for a full kit isn't bad. You can buy FX lite kits (no helmet, no velcro, no straps, etc.) on this board for about 1/2 the price (see the for sale area). Or, for $800 there are more accurate armors out there, or larger if you're a bigger guy. What are you looking for exactly - that's the question.
  15. Oh man - that's beautiful! You surely have earned the pleasure of going to a movie - WALL*E is supposed to rock, btw. Enjoy
  16. The site admins are pretty busy as-is. It's actually not feasible to maintain w/o a lot of manual effort, and we'd be creating a lot of accounts that don't get used. Also, we have no way of knowing when people lose their TK status, or drop off the 501st automatically. This is why we also don't get @501st.com addresses in the Legion. Supporter status updated - thanks!
  17. Actually it's kinda cool. Just make sure the frames wrap around and can tuck under a motorcycle helmet I like it!
  18. Got it Berry! Feel free to post some pix - congrats on getting your TKID!
  19. Sweet
  20. That's pretty nice if you're in an area that gets heat. The one time I did a Vader in summer I just duct taped cold packs to my body (yes, I was wearing a t-shirt). Worked for a one time deal, but not something you'd want to have to do over and over.
  21. Depends on what question you're really trying to answer. I'd say... Most *existing* 501st TK's wear FX armor that is mixed movie style, e.g. not adhering to one particular movie. Then again, a good chunk of 501st TK's I believe it's not their primary costume, or they got active when standards were pretty loose. Most *new* TK's are trying to adhere to a particular movie, and ANH is the most popular as that's how most kits come, though doing an ESB is pretty easy. I think most new members are FX armor + different helmet. That said, it seems more and more new folks coming in are bypassing FX and getting some other armor to begin with. I'd say most *active* 501st TK's - that is they troop regularly and the TK is their primary costume, are slowly but surely upgrading to be more move accurate, both in terms of getting more accurate armor and also more closely adhering to a specific move. If not FISD Elite, then pretty close. My garrison is a good example - we have few base FX kit guys left - most are only a mod or two away from Elite. FX armor is prevalent, though there's only like one or two FX buckets left.
  22. I think a 1" strip down the back would look better, IMHO.
  23. My garrison mate Brian wears a TE2 with his FX kit. No one notices - all comes down to how it's painted.
