  1. Would love to see it in person. For that money I can get an AP or TE2 kit and even have someone do most of the assembly. And in that case, I'd prefer to support the community than a corporation.
  2. I can't, but I do recommend you just go as yourself or with one person even if it's not in an official 501st capacity. I've done a few "events" where it was just me & a buddy or two. You have to be careful that you don't represent yourself as 501st though, or in a 501st capacity. But what you do with your armor on your own time otherwise is yours to do.
  3. Thanks Kevin - sure can't wait to see ref pix too. Thanks also for kicking this off
  4. OK, it will be when you're ready. The process is when you are ready to have the sources lined up, pix also of you with detailed shots of you in armor, and then the detachment submits it to the LMO for review, comments, etc. If there are any questions it will go back and forth for a bit. Once it's approved as a 501st costume with a CRL, you can use this for a TK designation. Since toys are not known for accuracy, I believe that screen grabs from the game will win out over any figure, though you'll need both.
  5. Dude! That's pretty awesome! We should use you for the CRL project. What do you think?
  6. It's complete crap Bill - send it to me and I'll ensure it gets disposed of. ;-) Just create a Request Elite Status thread in that forum and we'll be on this like white on rice. Just ensure we can see the details in each shot.
  7. How the heck aren't you Elite yet Bill?
  8. I like the AP too - especially if you use it in Hero format. You can't go wrong with either AP or TE2. The MRCE can be pimped to look nice as well. Personally I don't like the aesthetic from the front, but I seem to be in the minority. They are seriously popular.
  9. There are over 1000 FISD stickers still available for sale. These stickers are great to put on your car, your dog, your wife even. Hand them out like candy. I give them out when I visit other garrisons. And they are cheap too. So why not just order 100 while you're at it. We can always make more. Price is $30 per 100, shipped in the US. Send PP to [email protected] Note: merch is for exclusive to 501st members in the 501st section of the board. What are you waiting for? An engraved invitation? There will be no new merch until this inventory is whittled down. So shift it troops! Your XO
  10. I'll say now that's the best trimmed FX suit I've ever seen on someone your size. Hands down. I would not have believed if I didn't see the pix. Talk about learning something new every day. Aloha!
  11. The goal of Elite & the CRL is not prop recreation, and not to capture flaws. The color variations, cracks, etc. are not intentional and are just a result of the technology back then, and the budget. I think the goal should be uniform whiteness. I had at one point three different colors of white on my suit, and hated it so much I had the whole thing repainted. Worth every penny. Now, if you want to do prop recreation that's totally cool too, but if it's too film accurate to the point that it looks bad close up, you may have issues with it being accepted. Lastly - I think small amounts of wear is acceptable. In fact, some prefer a few scuffs here and there.
  12. If you have the extra cash and a little ambition, an AP or TE2 kit would fit you better to start with. Otherwise, as Terrell says you can certainly make the FX work, just be ready to do some trimming to fit it correctly to your frame and you'll be good to go! Don't forget to post progress pix - it's always great to see a build thread
  13. Wow - pretty neat to see this come to life for real. I think the color choice is correct - I'd suspect that conceptually it would match the exact blue of the 501st clones. Guess we better get the CRL for this submitted quick!
  14. That will be something worth waiting for by many!
  15. This is an excellent point. Why not just buy direct from the seller? Even FX. Most anything you find on Ebay is recast, and won't save you really any money in the long run.
  16. I'd advise against vinyl. Using a plastic (ABS) shim isn't that hard. Using vinyl to close that gap will not really fly and your GML will just have you move to using a plastic shim anyway. There was a big bru-ha-ha about this on clones. It didn't pass there, won't pass here I'm afraid.
  17. I know the AP esp. the legs are a be-atch but I have to say you should feel extremely proud of this accomplishment! Can't wait to see the Elite submission once you have your TK ID from the UKG. And, pix of the troop Walk proud Terry - you're entitled
  18. Nice - keeps getting better. I'd make the eyes a bit smaller IMHO on the v6.
  19. New pix? Bro - you're so close it's not even funny. Also - that's a sweet sig - hope you put some clear coat over it. I forgot on mine and one of the sigs smeared =:-0
  20. Do you have a before and after pix?
  21. I'd say it depends on how canon you want to get with it.
  22. Go ESB. You'd be the first I know of to do it, and Mike A. has some killer decals.
  23. Gentlemen - the Star Destroyer carrying the dispatches was delayed en route but no matter, the rebels intercepting her were blown to atoms. Orders came through, status updated!
  24. That's more than buying an FX lite and getting a better helmet, so yes it's a bit much considering that TK's don't wear pauldrons either, and that will just lay around the house gathering dust. If you have that much to spend get a different set. If you must have FX, get an FX lite kit and save some $$.
