  1. Well said Aaron! "Troopers helping troopers" needs to be more than a slogan. If people are having questions or need help, usually a little effort on our part and some genuine enthusiasm in giving them a hand achieves far more than any amount of guilt/brow-beating. Going EIB should be a positive experience.
  2. Thanks Rob! That's especially nice to hear as you've already hit EIB, and have a very nice suit at that.
  3. I'm certainly open to it at some point in the future. Right now I'm trying to keep the standards as-is until we hit a bunch more troopers. Yes, we're up to 65 EIB but that's far less than the 120 MEPD was at when they upped their standards, and as a percentage of the Legion way way behind. I think 1/3 of the Legion sandtroopers were deployed before the standards were upped. I'd prefer to focus on getting more of the existing Legion members to EIB with the standards as-is. For instance, I've seen a lot of guys 80-90% of the way there. What is keeping them going the other 10%?
  4. All set Jesse - sorry for the delay in updated status.
  5. Dang - and I bet you're beer is too cold and your girlfriend is too pretty. You're kids are all above average as well ;-)
  6. FYI I'm 6'0 185lbs and fit just fine in my TE2 (as I would an AP). For TE2 I actually had to trim a bit of material. I think you'll find that about $1000 when all is said and done is a base price. Going "more accurate" from there is sometimes only a few extra hundred dollars, but worth it in the long run if accuracy is that you want, else you'll just end up selling the suit. Note that AP actually has been known to trim/do assembly for a fee. Also - great suits can be had used much more economically - a fully built (and a fabulously done one at that) TE2 just went on sale for $900. Just add suit, shoes, and blaster and you're done. Also note that while these are generalities it's your armor in the end. There is no one "best". There is what is right for you, as the build/assembly to your body is far more important in making an effective trooper than the kit you buy.
  7. Wonderful - just need Terrell to pull the trigger and you're set
  8. This is just beautiful work there mate!
  9. This is an accepted costume in the Legion, direct from Thomas. We (FISD) are trying to create more specific standards along with input from people who've done this, such as Rick in TAG. The main issue really is the paint scheme, e.g. how to codify it when there are several variations. I suspect this will mainly have to be photo based.
  10. Wow - that it a fan. And with kids in tow to boot. What a cool story, and I bet it made you guys feel great to provide her that wish.
  11. I'm not sure I follow - when I say ANH I mean the movie, not a non-FX helmet. EIB standards are optional and set at the detachment, so no LMO approval is necessary. Or, are you asking if Thomas should make a ruling on removing FX helmets from all TK-based CRL's? (TK, TD, TX)
  12. The rules say this because when I started them I just copied and pasted from MEPD, though MEPD clearly allows nomex flight gloves. As Smitty says they are pretty universal, so it's really a miss in how I wrote the rules up back when. I'll correct that today.
  13. Extremely nice work. Yeah - just that one last detail shot to complete it - easy pass otherwise. Wow - you look GREAT
  14. Most excellent contribution Lor! For that you deserve lifeguard duty at the Twi'lik bikini team swimming pool for a weekend while everyone else is on range patrol.
  15. FYI I also put a proposed EIB standard up at ------------- What do you guys think?
  16. OK - I got an actual render for this character from LFL. What's interesting is this: Helmet In both the larger action figures and the render, the helmet is an ANH Stunt base Armor For both larger action figures, the armor is clearly ANH. In the render however it's ROTJ but with ANH hand plates. I'd like to draft the CRL so that it allows for both variants. What do you guys think?
  17. Man - wish I looked as good. Either Terrell or Aaron should be able to create a new animated .gif with this.
  18. Your friend did a very nice job on the box - looks really solid
  19. And that's part of the reason for our existence - to ensure people don't repeat the mistakes we did in the past.
  20. Not much to add - just need some detail shots. You did a good job there trooper!
  21. FYI I sent a ping to Mr. FX suggesting he upgrade his kits. With luck - this may happen in the future and they'll just come this way.
  22. Another excellent UKG submission - should be an easy pass. At some point you may want to trim up the shoulders, but this is a minor nit. Excellent job
  23. That's just the kit. But when you look at all the other stuff you have to buy in terms of other parts, etc. the delta between what you top out at either way. Yes, FX will always be least expensive, but it's it's not like you'll spend 2x as much in toto.
