  1. Actually that's pretty minimal cut out. If you look over and over again, there should be minimal amounts of blackness.
  2. We already have $$ in the kitty for shipping if TE2 is the way to go. Greg - I take it you'd be good with a kit that you'd have to assemble & paint? Also, we still need to get boot squared away for you.
  3. First post updated with more info. One vote came in for TM
  4. For me it was looking in the mirror for the first time in armor. I had never seen a person in TK armor in person before myself.
  5. I'm also donating a neckseal.
  6. No - we count the individuals, not the costumes. At some point we may highlight both, e.g. 100 members with 104 costumes. It wouldn't be hard to do.
  7. One can always do both, and many do. TD is a nice change of pace, but it's great to just TK too. Pack, pauldron, pouches, BFG - they do look cool but they carry a cost in weight and encumbrance...
  8. [email protected]. First post updated.
  9. Sure - I can be the collection point for the US. I have some other stuff I'm sending him anyway. I to get my kids from daycare, but will update the first post on a daily basis on what was sent/committed, and what's left.
  10. I've never tried - you can give it a go and see. Ideally that's the way to go as payments via subscription are tracked via the forum software so they are more easily audited by a 3rd party if it ever comes up to question.
  11. Troops: If you've been in the 501st for any length of time and for those that don't know, Greg (V'Pier) has been the stalwart webmaster for FISD since it's inception. It's his UI and Invision talents that have helped launch this site, his server account that we're hosted on, etc. He's also the root site admin and host for BSN, CTN, MEPD, ACD, and the BHG. Greg puts in countless hours to keep this place running. Think about it - when was the last time FISD went down? Yup - not once that I can recall. If you enjoy this forum at all, you can thank Greg for a good measure of it. Greg is an ID and a TB but dreams of having a full TK like the rest of us, and taking his place among the elite troopers of the Empire. Alas to this day only has a TK helmet. I'd like to ask each and everyone of you to consider what this forum means to you and contribute to the "Get Greg in to TK Armor" fund. To contribute, just choose to be a site supporter. 1. Go to "My Controls" 2. Under "Options" on the left choose "Purchase Paid Subscriptions" 3. Donate what your heart speaks to you. If you prefer, you can PP me directly at [email protected]. Either way, I'll post a running total to this thread of both monetary and material donations. (Realize that Greg lives in Australia so parts are best shipped directly rather than to me for consolidation.) What say you lads? To me this is a small way we can repay our gratitude. Big or small, any donations are welcome. With unquestioned loyalty, Paul -------------------------------------- NOTE: 1. Please let me know if you want me to list names of donors, or if you wish to remain anonymous 2. I've also asked Greg if he has a preference to a particular kind of suit. Where we're at: Cash : * $261.80 (9 donors). $130 cash has been sent to Greg so far. Parts : * Armor * Neckseal (arrived) * Holster (arrived) * Belt (arrived) * Wireless Vox for helmet (arrived) * Bucketworx fans (arrived) * Gloves (arrived) Items Needed : * Boots * Blaster * UnderArmor
  12. Nice - pix are always great - it's cool to see these kits come together
  13. My advice is to use the search button. The answer to your question is readily found, or even by looking at the for sale threads. It can be frustrating, but a little research on your part can save you some questions. Also, I'd suggest using a spell and grammar checker - it's hard to read what you are writing otherwise. My $.02
  14. The MRCE is the only one in that price range, aside from an AP second. I'd turn your spellchecker on too - I can't read 1/2 of what you wrote.
  15. -- Imperial Communication -- Gentlemen : I’d like to announce the appointment of Mark aka FireBladeJedi to the FISD Staff as the Detachment Armor Chief. Mark has extensive experience in this role for the UKG and has done a stellar job. He’s been informally doing some of this role here as well, but in addition to being a resident expert on TK armor his additional duties will encompass helping re-organize tutorial content on this site, helping to drive standards for EU costumes, and helping create new tutorials for the Academy site that is under contstruction. Sound like a lot? Yes, too much for Terrell and I to try to do on our own, so we are very appreciative for Mark to accept the position and help the detachment out. One man, but the right man for the job. As a side note, it’s interesting that 50% of the FISD staff is in the UKG…planned…? Let’s extend a hearty congratulations to Mark and cheers for an outstanding rest of the year! With unquestioned loyalty, Daetrin
  16. And I think I have an extra set of hovis. Let me check...& shoot me a PM.
  17. My guess is that these are common droid types and thus not really distinguishable. One is an astromech which seem quite common, the other a protocol droid which we see over and over again. Both got quite beaten up over time and 3PO was wiped - at that point he was a different droid really.
  18. Aside from "Uncle George wrote it that way"? This is the best guess so far.
  19. Looks awesome! Very few ROTJ floating around. Yeah - where did this lid come from? Kudos to the person who built it. More pix if you have 'em.
  20. The reality is what I said before - at the time I locked the EIB standards there was no supplier for latex hand guards, so regardless of it's accuracy it was not readily attainable and thus it's not in the standard. At some point they will be, but not this year. As for leather - what we've seen to date is just not conclusive enough to allow it in. This is very different from bubble lenses which while only seen on a few suits are seen close up and are unambiguous to even a non expert.
  21. SHORT ANSWER At the time the standard was written there were no vendors for latex hand guards, so putting it in the standard was an unreasonable requirement to add given the goal of EIB standards. Until we reach a healthy number of EIB I’ve put a moratorium on upping the standards. LONG ANSWER You can blame me 100%. I was the one who created the EIB standards and originally they allowed both leather and fabric. Early on when the det was young we started upping the standards a little bit and removing leather belts were one of the refinements as there really wasn't any evidence supporting them at all and aren't representative of the costume in general (just like omitting a thermal det is not representative of the costume). Adding a d-ring to the blaster was another refinement that was added later. However the changes being requested started becoming too many and too anal (such as the d-ring) and so unless it was a clarification I put a moratorium on changes to the EIB standards. The goal of EIB is to create a goal that is higher than Legion standards yet still readily attainable by detachment members. This is part of our charter (yes, I wrote that too): “The goal of this is not to force people to achieve the higher standard, but rather to demonstrate what the costume can become and recognize those who achieve it.” Until recently there wasn't anyone making latex hand guards so if we had made it a requirement it would be something that would be out of reach for most folks. Right now my focus is to keep the EIB standards frozen until we have a lot more EIB Legion-wide. MEPD did not up the Police Officer standards until just last year and having over 100 MEPD Officers. Until then you could get MEPD with lines in the tears/traps, drop boxes, etc. That’s about 25% of all TD’s, the equivalent would be 500 EIB troopers. So does this mean that I'll wait until we have 500 EIB troopers before upping the standards? Probably not - latex hand guards are getting easier and less expensive all the time, so at a certain point it will be an inexpensive upgrade and not much of an ask for people to obtain.
  22. Hey - I just noticed that we are one guy shy of being at 50% of the number of MEPD Police Officers in the Legion. Who will be magic #68 that will push us over 50%? (for reference, there are 16 Lancers Legion-wide).
  23. You indeed are almost there. It will be a great achievement - having both Police Officer and EIB is a good thing
  24. That's a fantastic idea Brian. My garrison is the same - we have a bunch of EIB and others that are only a mod or two away.
