Well, that's Thomas' call. The CRL states that the regular pauldron is acceptable, but the folded is preferred. I think this is fair.
-
Yup, and if Thomas says that, the CRL will match. I'll update the CRL on the Academy to reflect this. Oh! We can still allow it for EIB though...
-
I think it will fly for 501st clearance, but the pack will not work for EIB at least, neither will the FX helmet. Otherwise looking good, and that bazooka is rocking
-
Or did you mean the belt accessory? The academy has links to build or buy them. ----------

If by 'dirt' we mean dirty like a sandtrooper then I say and easy "no". If you mean weathered like a light weathering of a clone trooper or Republic Commando, then I'd say it's suggested but not required.

Interest list for Helmet heat pump A/C!
Daetrin replied to LaunchPad's topic in Electronics for Helmets / Blasters
Still would like to see pix before I plunk down cash. -
It certainly varies from garrison to garrison too. When my garrison was small we'd be lucky to have a handler, and they mostly ensured people didn't mess with your armor. I got spoiled when I went to Hawai'i. There were so many spotters and they really looked after the troop. Was hard coming back home.

Polls are sent out to every member. We posted them as announcements, put them in the newsletter etc. Some polls get a lot of traffic, others don't. Also, any poll regarding CRL's are binding in that it's our (FISD) recommendation to the LMO who has final authority as to what's on the CRL's, and can simply ignore or modify our suggestion if they so choose. Other polls (EIB, etc.) are internal only and can't be over-ridden by the LMO.

Man, I totally missed the pun. To me the punch line was that the wookie mumbled, e.g. even if you can speak wookie he was hard to understand :-p

Is assembling a TX the same as TK stunt?
Daetrin replied to pandatrooper's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
Aside from the decals/lenses and the belt material, as far as I can discern when reading through the specs is that it's identical to the TK. Just in black. -
Tammy's father took her to see Star Wars one evening. During the movie, Tammy alternated between excitement and puzzlement. While leaving the theater, her father asked her if she'd enjoyed the show. "Most of it, Daddy," she replied, "except for one thing. I couldn't understand a word that big furry guy said." "Well, Tammy, that's because he spoke another language, and also because that's just the way the wookie mumbles." -- Anjala E.A. Ehelebe, 1979

Most of the ANH suits (TE2, ATA, T/MC, AP) are similar in size and there's no appreciable difference in their dimensions. Most of the differences will be material (HIPS vs. ABS), cost (some are cheaper than others), and the detailing of the suits (for instance the details on TE2 are sharper than on ATA). Also, not all the parts are identical to each other, so while very similar they're not identical. Alas, I'm not sure there is a *best* answer. Each has their own fans for their own reasons, and IMHO they're all good suits/makers.

Hey James - I'm just north of you. Dan is a very talented artist with a long reputation of quality. However over the past year his deliveries have really slipped out, and people have had to wait a looooong time. Since you're more local perhaps the same won't happen to you, but you should at least be aware prior to spending $$$. Also, we've not really seen his kits in volume or on various troopers, so I'm afraid I really can't provide much guidance on what to expect for how it will look. Perhaps someone knows more than I, but this is the best info I have so far.
-
Al - you're TX is *tight*! My $.02 - since a TX is just a black TK I'd think they'd allow fabric. The reality is that most source for the TX are comic books and a few figures, and like many figures a lot was speculation back then. I'm not sure why the difference between the two is so stark in terms of allowances.

Help, this neckseal any good ?
Daetrin replied to Quebectrooper's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
I've been trooping with TK409's neckseals for 5 years (yes, the same one I bought back in 2005 if you can believe). I gave the measurement I use for my dress shirts - figured it would work and it has. Can't go wrong with Mrs. TK409's work. -
The best we have are references pinned to this section, one created by nothingrecorded and the other by forlornhope. Those two put an awful lot of effort to what we have now. There are essentially two variants: the ROTJ based one (with ANH hands, helmet, etc.) that is depicted in the games and the other being the 12" SideShow collectable which is essentially an ANH Stunt TK that was painted closely, but not exactly, to the video game reference. This has what you seek: TK Commander accurate paint reference shots -------- TK Commander CRL -------

Correction Terry - RT comes fully trimmed too. And RT is near you guys as well in the Vancouver metro area.

All - sorry for the delay in posting the results but I've finally gotten around to it (C5/CRL's ate up a lot of time). They are: BINDING POLL: SE-14R on which costumes Visual References (ANH Hero) : passed with 92% in favor. Any film canon (ANH Stunt, ESB, ROTJ) : split 50/50. Any EU (Commander, Incinerator) : passed with 56% in favor. Actions: Official CRL for ANH Hero now includes SE-14R as an approved option. Official CRL's for EU costumes have been updated to allow SE-14R in lieu of the E-11. Official CRL's for ANH Stunt, ESB, and ROTJ are not updated. BINDING POLL: Lightsabers and TK's OK for ANH Troopers : failed with 73% against OK for film canon (ESB/ROTJ): failed with 77% against OK for EU (Commander, Incinerator) : passed with 70% in favor. Actions: Official CRL's for EU costumes have been updated to allow white light saber in lieu of the E-11. Official CRL's for ANH Stunt, ANH Hero, ESB, and ROTJ are not updated. BINDING POLL : Splitting the ANH EIB criteria in two "Should the ANH EIB be split to match the CRL?" : failed with 60% against Actions: None BINDING POLL: Space Packs Q: What types of film canon should be allowed? A: Best effort for film canon (18 votes [100.00%]) Q: What types of action figure packs should be allowed? A: Split * Exact copy of a particular action figure (9 votes [50.00%]) * Rough copy of either action figure (9 votes [50.00%]) Q: Which TK's should be allowed space packs? Per visual references only (10 votes [55.56%]) (majority vote) THUS * Best effort film canon packs are allowed. * Exact or Rough copy of action figure packs are allowed * This will be an option for ANH stunt costumes only ACTIONS: * Official CRL for ANH Stunt is updated.

I think most think ROTJ are not beautiful as there are so few good ones. Here is an example that I think makes ROTJ look gooooood... I suspect with decent kits, others will find the *way* too.

Brian - you make an excellent point. Even if option C were "official", allowances should be made for people who are not of a similar body type. The Air Force has a saying "if it looks right, flies right". While screen accuracy is strongly sought after and should be identified as goals, it's not always possible or desirable, and both the 501st and FISD do make allowances to deviate. Heck, the 501st still has a lot of TK's running around with a) black straps for their drop boxes no backs on the drop boxes c) plastic belts d) inconsistent helmet detailing (e.g. ROTJ decals with an ANH hero frown) e) Silver tape on thermal detonators f) holsters that are mounted on the right for ANH troopers The list goes on, and these are more visible than whether someone chooses option B or C. I love that the level of costuming in the Legion is getting so good we start sweating the small details like this, and again am 100% behind that we should have accuracy targets to shoot for (e.g. EIB even has "should haves"). However we also need to ensure that we're not so slavish to screen accuracy we alienate the majority of our membership.

Which is strange, as if it's just a black TK, and TK's don't have shiny belts..?
-
Yes it is - there are several approved TKC's. Note that at this time Thomas is really leaning towards using the video game only as a reference. We even have a TKC Expert Infantryman

Pandatrooper's AM build thread[*AM]
Daetrin replied to pandatrooper's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
I'm lucky enough to have one, and can vouch for the design. The adjust-ability is a huge factor as it allowed me to gradually wear-adjust-wear-adjust until I had it where I wanted it. -
T/MC also makes ABS armor that is TE derived, very similar to AP.
