  1. Yup - we're having issues with bulk email. I'm working with Invision to address this.
  2. Whoa! Cool photoshopping work on Mason's eib profile pix Damian! Well done
  3. If you go ATA, you'll go 100% ATA for both helmet & suit. It's the most cost effective way to do so. The detail won't quite be as sharp at TE2, but it's also $300 less per full kit. Alas, it's trade-offs.
  4. Excellent work - you're making this look *good*
  5. He sometimes offers seconds for about $100 - you can't get cheaper than that anywhere.
  6. Hi Jessie, There is no perfect guideline and some people mix n match, e.g. I have a garrison mate with FX armor and a TE2 helmet. That said, most people for an FX (or AM) kit will suggest you go AP for your size as it's ABS like the armor and thus won't require painting. The RT will be larger (though is also ABS) and there is the MRCE, but the MRCE is a different color than the armor and will look not quite 100% when viewed straight on. If you go ATA, the helmet should match perfect as it will be whatever color you paint the suit, or as some are now doing they just buff the whole kit. TE2 helmet quality has historically been good. I took the liberty of giving you 501st access, you'll find pricing there too.
  7. It also goes to show that people can do ANH style armor as their first set, rather than having to get AM/RT first and upgrade later. That you're able to get the armor going, hit 501st & EIB on the same day, indeed it's rewarding to see that this forum is serving new members so well. Great job on the armor - with recruits like you we should be able to put down these insurgent Rebels no problem
  8. Less than 15 to go!
  9. Sorry for the delay on this... I can wear my hero for quite some time and find the visibility great. Good on me, but the lenses were custom made for that helmet by Mike A., TK-4510. I've tried to take some pictures of what they look like, not sure if they're helpful. Perhaps Mike can be convinced to do a tutorial on how he did this. While they will always be a one-off, at least others can replicate the success. More photos : http://s767.photobucket.com/albums/xx316/flyinghome/Bubble%20Lenses/
  10. You know, we can always use more members of the Imperial Propaganda Machine
  11. FYI this has also gone out via email. If you receive multiple copies, please PM me *immediately*.
  12. Rick, I'm having a hard time deciding which is more enjoyable: watching your progress threads or the final result. Perhaps "both" is the right answer. Well done, well done sir!
  13. The attention to detail is outstanding. When you do a suit, you really pull out all the stops! You do the Spanish Garrison proud
  14. And that works too. It usually takes a few troops to dial in the suit anyway, so there's nothing wrong at all with this approach.
  15. Please understand I'm not trying to pick on you at all, just trying to ensure the threads don't get too far off topic is all. And with that I'm closing the thread. There are some good questions, but I'm going to ask that they be broken out in to their own topics.
  16. It means you the main question has already been addressed, and now you guys are focusing on a side issue that is not yielding a resolution, and thus it's time to probably close this thread.
  17. Hi Damian, Mason is in a weird state. I saw his ICN be approved in the GML only area of the 501st boards (and thus why I allowed this thread to be posted), but Thomas has not gotten around to assigning TKID's yet. Thus, you'll be able to do everything but add the TKID until such time as the LMO gets caught up in that department.
  18. Move along guys, this thread is rat-holing.
  19. Actually, I'm wondering if we should just create a separate forum strictly for build threads. As Tom mentioned, anyone can post one. In fact, new people creating them is always good. It validates what we know, allows people to help out, and it's not uncommon for someone new to discover a new way of doing things.
  20. Wow! You may not post much, but when you do it really counts. It's great to see a newer EI request where the armor is FX and also showing that you don't need to be 165lbs to look good in armor. Well done, well done Now, just need that one pix like Terrell says and I think you're set
  21. Correct. And since GF can't make or sell armor, in a way FX is considered a bit of 'public domain', no? At least so far as the community seems to be concerned. In that vein, we take care to ensure that Deckard on this board is specified as not the only vendor of FX armor, but we allow him to sell here because to date he has proven to be the best FX vendor in terms of quality, price, and service.
  22. Another outstanding review by Terry! Guys - let us know if you feel these should be on the Academy as well.
  23. The AM is sculpted larger than the FX. I've seen the FX look good on people your size, but it takes work. My former GCO, all of 5'6" and 116lbs in FX armor: Probably 1/2 the plastic is on the floor, but he found a way to make it work. For ABS armor you have both T/MC & AP in ABS on the approved list for TE-derived armor. They'll lend themselves more to your build is probably what he's saying. And, yes the AM vendor on this board is very honest, so we're lucky there.
  24. What we look at is how the armor looks on the person. If you split the butt and it's entirely hidden by the belt, this is not considered fulfilling the requirement as it does not capture how the suits looked on screen, which is the main point. Else why bother making it a requirement?
