How tall were the 1977 TK’s from ANH.
Daetrin replied to LEGENDDAN's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
TE derived armor can be challenging in the legs I think at 6'0". Maybe it's because I'm a lot of leg, but here are some pix that show this clearly: Back of legs - see how much black is there? Here you can see (I'm in the middle) how the shin is barely even touching the boot: Second from right, if my thighs are lowered to not have much gap to the shins, look how much space there is at the top of the thighs: Ideally you should have only minimal black showing, which when I look at people with untrimmed armor it looks best about 5'9-5'10", so that squares with the rule of thumb. -

Actually I kinda like the suit clean (I'm in the center) Given my home situation and the challenges taking pix there or at an event, I decided to fork over the dough and booked a professional photographer. Appointment date is a week from Wed, so it will be awhile before I update this thread. More shots of the armor in action though. I mean, hey who doesn't like photos? Me on right -
On behalf of FISD, it's my honor and privelege to present the FISD Service Award to the following troops: To the 2010 Staff for a year full of newsletters, Imperial Reception Center articles, moderation, and a whole host of other work, we honor: Dan (debator2nd) Terry (pandatrooper) Brian (tkrestonva) Terrell (supertrooper) To the 2010 Imperial Propaganda Machine. These are the folks who put in countless hours creating 5 CRLs (now published on the Legion boards), processed all Expert Infantryman photos, creating banner signatures, trading cards, and other photoshop work for the benefit of FISD: Ryan (bluehickey) Noel (No'l) Pete (StukaTrooper) Jesse (TK 4702) Pablo (TKDUENO) Tray (as himself ) Damian (Dmian) Please join me in saluting these hard working troopers who truly embody the spirit of "Troopers Helping Troopers".

Congrats #145! Makes me feel better about making adjustments to mine -
Happy birthday, to the man who is single handedly keeping the Space Pack viable, amongst other cool projects.

Thanks Dave! Yeah, I should have been more liberal in my beer budget. Usually after a few snaps they dash off to the event and I don't know how they come out until days later. I'll ensure they're perfect this weekend. -

Guys - I could have pushed photos to Mason via PM and made correction after correction until they passed, then posted a fantastic EI thread. But what's the value in that and why should I be treated differently? Is it wrong for me to show my flaws? I wore this suit to C5 and was seen by thousands of people and had dozens of photographs taken, so I know it's EI. Heck, it's the suit used in my Avatar. Did a sticker fall off and me put the wrong one on? Yeah, can't I make mistakes too? Should it prevent me from EI? Absolutely! Gary/Mark - no one is advocating lowering standards, but we also want to delineate between must and should haves. I mean, hasn't everyone's belt slipped from time to time? Hasn't everyone not had the best pictures from time to time. Should I have tried to put together a better EI thread? You bet, but I've had countless people take bad pictures for me even when they were 501st that didn't show all the right details, and I got impatient as it seems to just drag on over the months. As noted, these are small adjustments and I'll just do what everyone else needs to do to get my designation. Sorry that I was human folks. -

Doh! Good call on the buttons. Yeah, that one top one is wrong - yeah a new sticker would do it - I think I'm plum out. Thanks for the punch list Mason - I'll be sure to get them done. And, it will allow me a chance to use the elastic on the bridges. They are correct in being glued in front and free floating in the back, but it would add that bit of kick, no? -

No worries Mark - I don't subscribe to the belief that officers in detachments or even garrisons are any better than anyone else, or deserve special treatment. We're all Legion members together after all. Alas, yeah the photos could be better. I tried to cram as much as I could into an epsiode of Dora to keep the kids from getting underfoot and was challenged in getting my wife to understand what I needed. No worries - there's a troop this Saturday and I'll see if I can bribe someone to take time away from the troop to take some better photos for me. -
OK, it's not a perfect suit but I figure I've been trooping in it for 6 months and it at least meets all the must haves Armor: TE2, ATA ab plate, RT shins. Built by: TK-4205 (armor), TK-4510 (helmet), RT (shins) Belt: TKKittell Boots: black jodhpur's died white Front shot Back shot (alas, belt slid) Side shot (no gap, TD, split butt, etc.) Helmet Detail including green lenses Inner drop boxes Blaster Detail w/d-ring detail OK, I think I got it all. After this, anyone who's tried to explain to a wife what shots to get and how to look for armor adjustments - you have my full sympathy.

Remember guys when reviewing these threads, there are required elements and nice to have's. Please ensure we differentiate between the two. Heck, even my EI is missing some "nice to haves". -

size of side rivits on ab?
Daetrin replied to PGHtrooper21's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
Nothing at all for a detailed description, however we usually don't get that wordy on CRL/EI at least at the summary level. How is this? It's your original next, just tightened a little. -

Daetrin replied to PGHtrooper21's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
OK, that's pretty accurate but I'm wondering if we can have a condensed version. I mean, we don't get this detailed in other parts. How about simply * 6 white solid cap rivets matching what was seen on screen mounted on the left side ab/kidney plates (3 on the ab, 3 on the kidney) * Single male snap on the to right back corner edge of the ab plate Then in the Tutorials we can get in to more detail as Tom describes. -

OK, I need help with how best to describe this for EI or CRL should haves. Here is what I have - is this correct? -
Alas, I'm not an expert but at least they look cool

Sorry Billy if my remark came off that way, as that's not what I intended. Perhaps it would have been better for me to say: "You need to be willing to be part of the process and work for change from within. Complaining from the outside wins no favors, and you can be cutting of your nose to spite your face." As you know I'm a huge fan of Gary though I confess I don't know Alex at all, and give Gary my unquestioned support. Secondly and equally for the record, it is not nor should ever be a detachment's place to dictate constume standards nor be the trooping police. While I may not always agree with the UK GML's call, that is my POV strictly as a regular 501st member and is not meant to be a detachment point of view. My apologies to the members of the UKG if it appeared otherwise.
-
No worries Graham - you're certainly free to come up with a UK based one. It would be fun to see a UK inspired take on this
-
Just remember guys that this is all for fun. People are totally free to use it or not. The reason for the US ranks is that I was in the US Army is all, which is the same reason why much of the FISD branding has roots in the US Army colors, etc. as it does the SW universe.

Yeah, elections are a month away. At least vote for those sympathetic to your cause and give the new leadership a chance.

Wow! Looks awesome. Considering how well the Incinerator worked out and your eye for detail, this is going to be one heckuva build thread!

Yup, we can do that. Neat idea ** ducks before Damian can throw a rock his way **

Mind if we reference this from the Imperial Reception Center?
