  1. I've loved the ANH Hero from the first time I saw the move in '77. I much prefer the hero helmet in looks and that's what I'd most like to do. Some day...
  2. My short answer is this: if money is no option *and* you can get it, TM is IMHO the nicest looking kit. If budget is more of an issue, then ATA is usually what people go with. RS falls in the middle and the impression I get is it's more connoisseur armor, e.g. for people who know exactly what they want and are willing to spend more than on ATA but not as much on TM.
  3. As noted - the LMO just got up a skeleton and the language says it's not complete. That's pretty common for many of the CRL's out there - they are in a WIP state. So, rather than debating what should happen, let's all work to move this process forward. We're far more effective as a team. While the wording is being worked out, perhaps one of the RMQ TK crew can start getting photos taken so we can process them. That's usually the most time consuming part of the CRL. Getting the text done is actually pretty fast.
  4. I love the personalization. No chance someone will accidentally grab your bucket.
  5. QFT - Matthias is 100% correct. There are 330+ EI troopers in the Legion and I'm not aware of any case where this became a blocker for EI status, e.g. people can still get pictures taken with a blaster in their home, even if they cannot troop with a blaster in their home country.
  6. I have always found him to be reputable in this regard. I've used his decals and sport one of his neck wallets too.
  7. Yes. They also had drippy paint and gaffer's tape. And a bunch of other flubs. The goal of the 501st is not prop replication, but what is "seen" on screen.
  8. Very creative - I LOVE IT!!
  9. I'd still smooth it out though.
  10. As it's not overly accurate, mebbe $100? Maybe less, depending on what it's worth to you really. My wife looks at once of my helmets and says it's worth $0 to her, yet I pad $500 for it back in the day.
  11. Thanks Damian for getting the CRL stub created for the detachment to use. I can't wait to see how this evolves.
  12. Congrats Gary - couldn't happen to a nicer fellow. Few get a chance to be a first.
  13. And, in my not so humble opinion, I believe this should be a Legion approved costume. The work that has gone in to it has been way above what has been on other approved costumes. The references are many, and has been noted there it is instantly recognizable. I've recommended to Eric that everyone who was part of this get an FISD Achievement Medal for bringing to life this costume, as it really is a singular achievement who's impact is hard to over-state.
  14. Exactly. Even the LMO who created it said it was a mistake of his. Personally I love the RP because it's the single worst costume reference ever, and sets a very low bar for anything else to be approved.
  15. Beyond beautiful - simply stunning.
  16. You can find this by talking to anyone on the LMO team. ROTJ is now broken out, and it should be a very fast database query to get your answer. Last time IIRC it was very small - 10 at most.
  17. Yup, what BJ said. You can easily see it in screen caps, though some had more "seam" than others.
  18. Wow - talk about way back. That site was required reading when I joined the Legion - still an valuable source of info.
  19. For Legion acceptance the stormtrooper dream is never over. We can revisit TK-Big who was a massive person and ended up sculpting his own armor. There is also a guy up in Alaska who was 6'4" 240lbs and got even a TE set to fit. Yes, there is always a way.
  20. A more verbose yet comprehensive explanation exists on why they were created. EI was created right after I started FISD and was meant to be the stormtrooper version of the MEPD deployed program, as at the time (2006) costume standard were pretty low, and we wanted a way to: 1. Encourage people to upgrade their kits to be more accurate. 2. Give them clear guidance on what this means and how to do it (else #1 is pretty hard to do) 3. Provide recognition for those who have put in the extra effort to dial up their costumes. The EI standards were meant to be able to be achievable with a reasonable amount of time & money, just like deployed status was. It was never meant to be the end-all be-all of accuracy, nor include any impossible to find or exorbitantly expensive parts. More info below: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/8583-expert-infantryman-badge-eib-program-overview/ Centurion came about as some people wanted to go beyond Expert Infantry and pull out all the stops as far as one could go on the accuracy bar with a Legion approvable costume. I call this out as the Legion has never been about prop replication per se, as how a prop looks in real life is not how it looked (or came across) on screen. We do try for screen accuracy however. Thus I created the Centurion program in concert with Noel Green - the DL of MEPD at the time - creating the SWAT program. This was done about Feb 2011 or so. I can't seem to find the original thread anymore that explained the program overview like we have for EI Here was the announcement at least from March 2011: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/14747-new-costume-award-programs-for-mepdfisd-in-2011/ Does this help?
  21. Agreed. You guys are top shelf all the way. WELL DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!
  22. Kudos, huzzahs, and a hearty congratulations to Kevin and everyone else involved with bringing this to life. It's incredible to think that six months ago it was just an idea and here we are now. I'd like to recommend FISD Achievement awards to Kevin & co for going above and beyond in creating a singular contribution to our hobby.
  23. At the risk of being modded, let me simply say that I will miss you very much Karin. You have always been a font of knowledge, extremely helpful, and have given much to this community not just regarding the hand guards you sell, but in maintaining a positive attitude. You truly are "sunshine". Be well, and know you have the admiration of many, and the door will always be open unto you.
  24. I can't believe I'm saying this, but Mathias and Karin, I'm disappointed in you both for how you've handled this.
