  1. Congratulations matey Quality posts, from a quality guy
  2. Eric The TD / O2 cannister just wouldn't have fitted on the belt along with the grappling hook box mate. There just wasn't enough room as you can see from the back of the poor unsuspecting trooper that he managed to steal it from ----------
  3. Steve 501st status is all sorted now mon ami Great looking set up you have there and I can't wait to you toting one of Mason's Bad Boy Bazookas
  4. Joe Here's a quick crib sheet that I come up with a while ago to show the simple little changes betwean the two Hope this helps mate
  5. Noel This is how THIS particular suit (that was found in the Lucas Archives) was strapped mate. Its pretty obvious that its not the generic / normal original set up that we find on most of the suits. There could be many reasons for that such as break-fix / running repairs or possible specific requirements for the stunt guys such as additional padding and what not. You have to remember mate that they re-used ANH suits for ESB so a good few of them would be beautifully beaten and battered by the time filming started. I’d also think that for any close up work they would shy away from anything that wouldn’t be aesthetically pleasing in their view and prefer to go for some clean and simple shiney white examples.
  6. Here ya go mate As Paul-TM mentioned, its one of the ANH suits that appeared in the 'Holiday Special'
  7. Totaly agree, its been totally messed around with, its not an M-19, plus he's been trying to sell that thing for months now. Just glad that people can see it for what it is <_< The M-38 seems like a nice piece, the one thing that I would say is that I would contact the seller and ask if he as changed or repaired the lens because the 5 front screws seem to be new or at least cleaned up plus the visual that he's shown of the inside as no range markings which is unusual and I've only ever seen that once in all the scopes that I've owned. This is what you would normally see when you look through one Still agreat find for the right price
  8. If you saw Gary's 'Man-Cave' (or should that be Bat-Cave ) then you would know that the guys attention to detail and incredible collection is second to none Not surprising that he as now carried that ethos over to his other all consuming passion, the iconic TK. Ohh, and sometimes both those worlds collide with some interesting results ... <---------89Batman.....Billhag----------->
  9. Rob First off, Welcome to the FISD mate, its a pleasure to have you on board Right, Topic title as now been sorted for you so hopefully that will let folks know what you are looking for. Regarding requests for appearances, these are normally handled by the UKG Event Co-ordinator. They will review the request and assess whether it would be suitable for a 501st official troop. The UKG gets hundreds and hundreds of requests and unfortunately its not always possible to accommodate them all. May I suggest that you come on over and join up and get to know us a little bit better and that way you may be able to get in touch with some local troopers who may be willing to pop along in an ‘unofficial’ capacity. Here’s the link to our site;- ukgarrison.co.uk We’re a good bunch over there (well mostly ) and I think you’ll enjoy it nearly as much as you will here mate.
  10. Tom That thread is quite scarey as its not just Rolf's that are gone but a good few others as well Paul Here's a screen grab of my one Both text and photo links in the post have totally disappeared. Do you think that it may be a cookie/cache thing?, I'll give them a clear out and see what happens
  11. There's a few things I've noticed since the 'tweaking' You can't see 'Topics' and 'Posts' when you click on the 'view profile' button of a member in a post. This as been replaced with a 'content' button now, which is a tad frustrating when you want to find someting that you know a member started. Also, for some reason the complete contents of one of my posts as vanished (New Year, New Helmet first post disappeared ) I like the cleaned up profile tab in the Admin CP and the way we've got it all in one place now and lost the 'custom' tab
  12. Terry Is there nothing that you're NOT bloody good at? Brilliant, brilliant tutorials mate, loved every second and wanted to see more Makes me want to pull my finger out and get my sandie bloody finished instead of keep putting it off (been sitting in a box for well over a year ) Thank you so much for doing these, I'm sure that they're going to be an inspiration to many, many troopers
  13. Karin Sounds good to me mate That's what they were always called so makes sence to stay with what we know
  14. Jack Here ya go mate, I posted these up a while back. 10 round mag with the 34 for comparison Most people just trim down the 34 round mag to about 2-2.1/2 inches like this Hope this as helped mate
  15. Rob Mark-FBJ as been searching for some 'accurate' looking black electrical tape ever since he saw these pictures the other week. <_< If anyone knows where to get some, PLEASE, PLEASE DON'T TELL HIM!!!
  16. Yerrh,.....now this it what you call REAL 'Ghetto Rincing' Some fine paint preparation tips in action from Mr.Gage and Brebner
  17. Chris Looks absolutely killer mate I don't know, new baby, new armour, who could ask for anything more Congratulations on both counts mate
  18. Vern That statement right there says to me that you are implying that TM as resast TE, is that what you're saying mate? Or are you saying that Paul sits there with a TE thigh on a plinth and painstakingly trys to recreate the shape and form of it to achieve the perfect armour
  19. Stig Here's another fine example of polishing HIPS by DarkTrooper,...just check out THAT SHINE!! Here's the link to his thread ----- Vern I never used a buffer or pads when I did mine mate, just good ol' elbow grease and a wee bit of effort. That included all the hard to get to areas and 'soft spots' which all came up a treat. I'm not saying that everyone should do it, but I don't think that it's an option that people should just dismiss out of hand, because after all, the results show that it does work.
  20. I don't know if I'm missing something here but, there are hundreds of thousands of 'off the shelf' black Jodhpur / Chelsea Boots at there why would anybody want to have some made up specially or even go to the extent of painting / dyeing white ones BLACK Take a leaf out of Mr.Cherrington's book (the best looking TX on this planet) and just go out and buy yourself some black ones....job done
  21. Really?, where did you get this information from mate? The thickness of Hips varies as does ABS but I wouldn't say this is a major factor in whether or not it should be painted. Granted, your normal every day hips commonly used for most stormtrroper parts have a matte finish to it and the usual method for giving it that much needed shiney appearance that we all love so much is to spray / paint it, but you can get some stunning results with a little bit of work without a single drop of paint touching it Stig Here's Terry's thresd showing the work that he did on his ATA HIPS helmet. ----- Basically you use the same method that you would use when carring out paint prepartion and finishing. For my TE2 suit I first built and assembled all the armour.I then wet sanded and polished all the parts. Its really simple, go to an automotive shop and get yourself a few packs of Wet 'n' dry sand paper in varioUs gades.Just remember the lower the grade number the coarser the abrasiveness of the grit will be.For example a 120 grit is fairly harsh and rough and something like a 1200 or 2000 is very smooooth and as a very fine feel to it Once you have your paper, get yourself a bucket of warm water with a smidge of your favourite washing up liquid / dish detergent and off you go. Just tear the shett in half, fold it over, dip it in to the water so its nice and wet and then start sanding that sucker down I started with 400 for the ruff spots and progressively worked my way through rubbing down with 600, 1000, and then 1500. After that rinse all the parts and when dry use a polishing compound to bring out the shine. You can polish it even further once you have a good surface with something like MER or any other high gloss car polish and it makes 'pop' even more. As I said in another thread, its easy, give it a try you've got nothing to loose and if you don't like the finish you can always spray it. Hope this as helped mate Oh, and here's a little something for Nathan 'coz I know he loves your name sake Me, pondering with a pipe at a recent troop
  22. Stig Your original enquiry about polishing hips is still a valid one. You can get outstanding results as Terry's and my photos show if you follow the simple steps of wet sanding with progressive grit ratings (400, 600, 1000) and then polishing as detailed in Terry's thread. It requires a wee bit of manual work but anyone can do it and the good thing about it is if you are not happy with the results you can always go the paint route
  23. Vern You're slipping mate , I would have thought that you would have hunted Simon's thraed down by now and seen why the trigger and other parts look home made because they are. Simon built a beautiful scratch built E11 with a full on Blaster Core system the same as Pablo's wonderful example Here's the link http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=5937&st=0&p=75884&fromsearch=1entry75884 and here's Pablo's build link and YouTube video http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=3475&st=0&p=44683&fromsearch=1entry44683 Simon doesn;t get on here much now as most of his time is taken up with building some fantastic R2 units Oh, and you were correct about the Canadian pressed steel stock mate, he got it from a guy on here a couple of years ago.
  24. Derek Put it on a pipe build mate Check out this thred from ages ago that explains about all the different types of scopes (M19/M32,M38/M40) including your variation with the sooper-dooper night vision , its a cool scope even though it was never used in the films. http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=5555&st=0&p=71462&fromsearch=1entry71462 They can be modified to look like an M38 with a little work. Simon-derekduvalle did a brilliant job on his one that he put on his fully loaded E11 with Blaster Core Before After And here's what it looks like with the Sooper-dooper night vision Nice find mate and I can't wait to see it sitting on top of a nice new blaster
