  1. Are these shoulder straps ruined the way I trimmed them? I can't find the photos I was building from when I trimmed these, it was a few months ago. Thought it was right when I did it.
  2. http://unitednuclear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=70_71&products_id=289&zenid=d3b98a879ba24c6622e33e23531cce5f This one might be a bit on the big side, but great website for your magnet and fissionable material needs.
  3. yeah, I put those in temporarily to see if the gaps etc I was concerned about would close up once the ears were on, I've not trimmed them out as yet. Thanks though. hdtheater: Thank you, thats reassuring. Shooter: Thanks, asymmetry is cool. Maybe looking at the MRCE ESB helm I won at CV is throwing me off. Still, I worry a bit that there isnt enough material on the cap/back on the right side as seen in photo 5 to wrap around to the bottom. hope thats somewhat clear
  4. I've trimmed and screwed the Cap/Back to the Faceplate using the triangle of divots in the ear areas and the divots lower down where the bottom earpiece screw would go. Im looking at the helmet and it looks to me as though it was placed face down and sat on. Just wonky. Also, where the front and back meet, just below the lowest of the three ear divots, the back doesn't follow the contour of the front well. There is a significant gap. There was no divot at the bottom of the cap on the right side, there was on the left. Seems to me here on the right side, that there isn't enough material on the back of the cap to make the rim at the bottom even. This is my first helmet build. I'm nearly finished the armor, I left the helmet for last. Are these things i'm asking about typical of AP helmets and therefore something that can be worked with? I've seen many a beautiful AP helm, want to make sure I can get there too. Thanks
  5. Thanks Veedox, I appreciate the quick reply. I had another look after posting and found 2 posts that say as much. and i always thought i was good at research <_<
  6. Hi all, I received my big brown box from AP recently and have found a little time to start my build. I want to do ESB and in my research i've not found the differences between ANH and ESB armor, I know the helmets are different but the armor itself seems to be the same to my untrained eye. The handplates are different but aside from that am I missing something? Can i just follow along with Stuka or Panda's builds, get new handplates do an ESB lid and call it a day? your patience is appreciated, -TK-Wannabe
  7. the answer to the 5' 2" trooper is in this thread ----------
  8. What mods (if any) are necessary for an AP suit to pass 501st muster? of FISD for that matter? I think I read something about the mic tips having to be changed.
  9. Nevermind. I've made contact with AP. What would you suggest for a person who is 5' 2" and has size 4 feet? it is for an adult heavily mod-ed AP work? or is there a set geared to people who are "a little short for a stormtrooper" ? Thanks for all the great advice.
  10. Can someone PM me contact info for the fellow that makes AP armor?
  11. I forgot to mention that I purchased a efx ESB TK helmet ar Celebration V after asking a few 501st guys if it was approvable. It just occurred to me to ask how the FISD feels about it. Also, I think this page is fairly old but I wonder if the financial details on it are still valid. ---------- (apologies if the link is in violation of a board rule)
  12. Hi everyone. I've wanted to do the 501st thing for years now. My wife and I just got home from Orlando and Celebration V and had a blast, so now she's on board. I am 5' 8 1/2" tall barefoot and 160 lbs. The look I like in TK armor isn't the 'screen accurate every bump and imperfection' look. I like the polished looks like he just stepped off a Lambda class shuttle and Vader will be along in a moment. Kind of a 'if it were real' look. I like the ruggedness of ABS as well as the shiny no need to paint-ness I have plenty of experience working with plastics and costuming so I don't see assembly as a problem. All the research I've done has given me a gut-feeling that AP is the route for me but I'd like the opinion of some more experienced Troopers. Thanks in advance and feel free to ask questions that will help tailor advice to my situation. -TK-Wannabe
