  4. I've used toothpicks before, works quite well.
  5. Very nice stitching, you have more patience and skill with a needle than I
  6. Nice start, make sure when trying on you have your undersuit on, can make a difference. Some do like to get rid of most of the return edge due to armor bites but I kept mine but either is acceptable. When ever in doubt you can always refer to the gallery section
  7. Nice work, coming along great
  8. Nice work, there are a couple of things that do stand out. On your helmet you have some extra material showing from the back plate, this should be trimmed and is covered by the ear Also it looks like your rear thigh cover strip is on an angle and not straight. You could also rotate your TD around a little so the top detail can be seen. You have quite large corners cut off on your belt, although only a requirement for L3 I would still try to rectify this just for the appearance: "The corners of the plastic ammo belt shall be trimmed at a 45 degree angle that that meets the outer edge of the cloth belt" Trimming some material from the end of the belt will reduce the cut corner size and also match the fabric belt width. Good luck with your application.
  9. Just a couple of things Dan and it's all dependant on how you read, we are all different, but we can agree to disagree so disregard if I'm wrong. Just to be a real a knob and of course I am from down under, (we drive on the right side of the road, well right being left) are the ears tilted back or tilted forward, depends how you interpret and describe, when looking at which side of the helmet , (this is known as a forward slash / )to me they appear tilting forward (greater fall from top than bottom) but no doubt I read this differently to others, but if it's confusing me would it confuse others? 1. Ideally, the ears shall be tilted back at an angle to where the screws align closely with the rear angle of the trap located above the rear of the brow. 1. Ideally, the ears shall be tilting forward at an angle to where the screws align closely with the rear angle of the trap located above the rear of the brow. Do we need the accurate measurement, wouldn't a pencil do? I suppose it depends on where from the cheek you measure, as it has a curve, a pencil would sit in there easier you would think than actually measuring, but again that's just me. 2. Tube stripes are positioned no more than approximately 7/16ths (1 cm) from the cheek, (a standard pencil width). 2. Tube stripes are positioned no more than a standard pencil width from the side of the cheek. Again it's all about how you read it, this sounded a little more straight forward. 5. Ideally, a minimal (or no) gap is permitted between the top of the shoulder bell and the shoulder bridge. 5. Ideally there should be minimum to no gap between the top of the shoulder bell and should bridge. I agree with the brow, I've always quoted the difference in appearances between the Hero and Stunt with mentioning the brow position, Stunts should have a small amount of the faceplate (white) showing in between, where the majority of Hero helmets seen have the lower brow (although one does appear higher in pic below) but many judge the look of Hero from the iconic Promo Hero which also had the lower brow appearance. Joseph looks to have ROTJ in hand so I won't interfere. TKC photos need adding of correct option TD's (currently it's an ANH) ROTJ Game TKC wording of the ammo strip placement: "It was brought to my attention in the recent TKC L3 approval of Daphne that ROTJ armor will not allow the thigh ammo strip to sit on top of the lower ridge and cover the front of the ridge V (as seen in screen images). Looking at other makes of armor it appears it won't allow the strip to sit there either" OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable): OPTIONAL Level three certification (if applicable): The thigh ammo belt shall be positioned on top of the lower ridge as seen in official references and is not rounded off like ANH. The thigh ammo is glued and has no rivets. TO The thigh ammo belt may be positioned on or above the lower ridge as seen in official references and is not rounded off like ANH. The thigh ammo is glued and has no rivets. ESB biceps do not appear to have hooks references can be found here: OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable): OPTIONAL Level three certification (if applicable): Biceps must be constructed using the butt joint and cover strip method. Overlap construction is not allowed. No bicep hooks are present.
  10. Here's mine I'm 6' Shoulder bells are a little small on me, I've also had to pull up my shins and drop my thighs a little to reduce the gap around my knees, there's also a bigger gap around the elbows and I have a small gap between the backplates. At 6'3" I'd say you'd end up with some bigger gaps, hopefully some other tall ATA wearers will chime in. Great thread here with info for larger troopers so you can compare.
  11. Actually quite a few helmets teeth the paint stops a little shorter, but most appear to have removed the ridges between the teeth top and bottom I would however adjust your brow a little higher to show a little white, Hero helmets tend to have the low brow appearance with Stunt slightly higher, good luck with approval.
  12. I think you have your answer right there, not unrealist to achieve (with the exception of the "ideal" ears and shoulder bridges/bells in some cases). If there is an exception and may be too hard for some to achieve due to either size, shape, armor or experience then shouldn’t these be worded as preferred/ideally/suggested. Really easy for us to debate what’s easy for someone to achieve when we have already reached higher
  13. I highlighted on the first page some of the outstanding CRL’s, also been adding them as a reminder in the last few newsletter drafts, but nobody bit. Ongoing CRL To Be Updated: ROTJ text updates TKC detonator photos to be added also wording changed for thigh ammo strip here ESB no bicep hooks L3, info here Perhaps these can be finalised before additional work on CRL’s be continued.

  15. With imgur you can right click on images and select copy, then you can post directly into threads
  16. Good luck, hope you hear some good news soon
  17. "ideally no elbow gap is preferred" seems logical to me which still allows those with gaps to apply, I really would hate to see people being denied for higher level approval because of arm and shoulder gaps, not everyone has the perfect shape, I know I don't. I already hear us being called "elitist" don't think we want "discriminatory" added as well.
  18. "Ideally, preferred, suggested, if present", are great terms to use when you have specific detail that some may be able to obtain but for those others which can't will still include them.
  19. Can never have enough clamps, painters tape and magnets can also be useful. In case it hasn't been suggested rough up the areas which glue is being applied with some coarse sandpaper, will help them to adhere. Keep up the great work
  20. While the stickers freshly applied and you are careful you should be able to apply some masking tape over the stickers then with a sharp knife ease up each corner of the stripes and pull off the whole set of tube stripes in one go, then you could reapply.
  21. Congratulations trooper
  22. I think we have to bare in mind too that not everyone has the ideal shape and size, I know I'd prefer not to have any gaps around my knees, my elbows or shoulders but those are dictated by my height and my armor and there's not much I can do about it unless I was to try purchase a few longer pieces from another kit which may fit my size but may not match the colour of my original armor. My size is the reason that although I was the first TLJ-E approved my photos where not used in the CRL because of gaps around my knees and there was another applicant at the same time who didn't have those gaps so his where the preferred photos. Was I a little offended by this YES and I don't think many wouldn't, but if you make a level not achievable because of someone's size then I think you are excluding a lot of people.
  23. Yes reaching Centurion should take some effort but making sure most armor is able to reach a specific goal doesn't hurt, AM was just one that didn't out of all other makes. But since I know my ATA helmet can allow for the correct angle of ears so I'll be right in the future I'm really not fussed, I'm more thinking of others able to achieve this, just suggesting a little researching to see how many other makes of helmets do really wouldn't take a lot of work, or even just changing a word in a sentence to ideally was a suggestion
  24. I suppose it's all down to perspective and how picky you really want to be, there does appear a difference between Hero and Stunt as show below, Hero vocoder appears a little narrower and the tiers (steps) are a little lower on the sides. Stunt appears fuller. Han and Luke's helmets do appear to have a little more paint in the centre top of the vocoder and the side of the tiers (steps) appear a little lower in the below image when compared to Stunt versions No matter what though Brendan your touch up to the vocoder looks a lot better now, good work.
