  1. I was going to ask about battle damage as well, guess I'll just watch this thread and see what transpires.
  2. That picture is pretty sweet. Grew up watching the TNG.
  3. quick question with the speaker in the chest. Do you guys point the speaker towards the armor or towards your chest?
  4. Another great read. I'd definitely be interested in the PDF of the FISD brochures. Even just to see it for myself. I'll be looking the them. With luck and if life permits I'll be helping with the road to 300 EI's.
  5. I was going to do the overlap method when I was doing research. However with more reading and researching in the end I decided to do the butt join as it was the more accurate representation. I didn't find the butt join too difficult. Also when I had to redo my calves a few times it was relatively easy to get the cover strip off and redo it. This was my first build with no previous experience. Also like you mentioned it does seem to be a stronger bond. You'd have no problem doing the butt join method.
  6. I too almost went with Rubies, the price stopped me cold though. Then I found the FISD and now I'm a registered TK working towards Expert Infantry. By working I mean trying to get the time to suit up again and get the close up pictures required. Doesn't seem like much until you add the 2 year old and the 2 month old. My days are busy. It'll get done. Hope to apply we'll say before Christmas as I'm moving in a month as well. I need more hours in a day. Great newsletter as always.
  7. I have an ATA kit. It was my first build and it went pretty well. I am 5ft 11inches tall and weigh a slim 152 pounds. With my ATA kit I didn't have to shim anything and it all seems to fit just fine with even some wiggle room.
  8. Pretty cool, makes me want to get out there more!
  9. Looks pretty sweet. Still working on mine.
  10. I'm looking into upgrading my neckseal and this one looks sweet. Any updates on a production run?
  11. I first went looking for UA, then I saw a thread about eastbay. Very happy with my choice. I was in my armor for an hour and a half on a +25 Celsius day and I felt every breeze. Felt really good. Highly recommend.
  12. I have a belt that has the plastic insert inside for strength that I bought off a vendor here, TKittell, so I believe I'll be able to sew it by hand. It'll take a little bit of time but I think I'll try sewing and then just using the glue onto the back of the kidney plate. Thanks for the info guys.
  13. Did you glue or sew the velcro onto the belt?
  14. I had a small issue with my belt slipping down in the back. It's attached to the front ab section with 2 snaps. I was considering using 2 more snaps at the back to hold it in position, then I thought about velcro which would probably be easier as if I'm off in measuring a little bit it won't matter. Just curious what other people use to correct this. Thanks.
  15. Congrats. It's a good feeling isn't it.
  16. I consider the ear gaps to be vent exhaust ports. Air would have to go somewhere. Plus it makes me feel better.
  17. Not much is free anymore. That being said for what the FISD has given me I will gladly give some back when and if required. If the cost is spread across everyone it really shouldn't be too much. Let's face it, Death Stars and Star Destroyers are costly!
  18. You just solved my problem of losing the elastics for the shoulders. Never occured to me to glue them on. Nice set of armor.
  19. Try that. We are never really done. Always improvements or little fixes to be made.
  20. Never read the Thrawn books. I'll have to give them a try.
  21. I find that when my thighs are up too high that they make too much contact with the crotch. That's where the majority of my sounds come from. In the Opening scene with the Stormtroopers running down the hallway they are making quite a bit of racket. Maybe someone more experienced has more options.
  22. Nice blaster. I already want to upgrade from my Hasbro, and I just got approved like a week ago. Ha ha.
  23. For which way is up and down I'm not entirely positive. I can say that yes you leave some of a return edge. Believe it's about 5mm. That's what I left on mine. Looking at your pictures again, I'd go with the second one. That being said i've been up a lot of the night with my two month old. I'll strongly recommend a second opinion. Happy trimming!
