  1. My cats just look at me weird. I'll be encountering dogs in the next day or two, they are family members and are well trained so I'm not too concerned.
  2. Congrats. Having just recently been approved too I know the feeling. Enjoy it.
  3. I just got approved. I sent my pictures to my CO as my GML had limited internet capability. I was approved later on that day. It took a week for my TK # to arrive via email. Just be patient, it'll happen. I know it's easier to say. I was checking every new email with excitement.
  4. Nice. Good read. Trooper Korps it is.
  5. I enjoyed The New Jedi Order series. There are 19 books in that one. Primarily focuses on the jedi and their kids. I also Liked Legacy of the Force, 9 books in that one. Fate of the Jedi was the last series I read, I believe there are 6 or 7 books in that series. Also Liked the Darth Bane Books, only 3 of them. One set I would really recommend would be the Republic Commando Series. There are 4 books in that one I believe. Really enjoyed that one, probably because it focused on the clones. That's my 2 cents.
  6. That's pretty much what I thought. Figured I'd ask the guys who have been doing this for a while. Thanks for the info.
  7. So, a friend of mine just asked what TK stands for. Is it actually an acronym or just the designation of Stormtroopers? Just curious.
  8. Requesting 501st access please 501st Badlands Garrison TK 7639 http://www.501st.com/members/displaymemberdetails.php?userID=14688 Thanks.
  9. I hear you on that. Although I am confident now that I could do it, i'd probably have to order another sniper plate from ATA. I'll keep what I have for now. Going to be a few weeks for my EI submission though. Family trip back home. Just got my email today, I am TK 7639. YES! Gotta run and order my T-Shirt From Trooperbay Now! Thanks all!!!!
  10. This is what I found when I was trimming my armor. Return Edges minimal on bottoms of bicepĆ¢ā‚¬ā„¢s and bellĆ¢ā‚¬ā„¢s. 3-5mm tops of bicepĆ¢ā‚¬ā„¢s, 5-8mm on the sides of the back and chest plate, sides and tops of the ab section, 6-10mm for the bottom edge of the back and chest plate, top of butt, top and bottom of kidney (depending on strapping method being used). 3-6mm for thigh tops (transition from thick and thin for better definition in certain areas). 5-8mm tops of shins/calves, no returns on bottoms. Hope it helps. I found this on one of the build threads. Believe it was under the ANH category.
  11. Speaking as one who has gone through and survived room inspections in the military, yes in that case your uniform, rifle as well as your locker are all in pristine condition. Not a speck of dust anywhere, everything nice and clean, ready for inspection. At least as ready as you can be. That being said as soon as you hit the field all that goes out the window. Then it's all about soldiers comfort. Keeping warm and dry and keeping your morale up. That can be what the TD's are. They are on field operations. You get dirty when you're deployed for weeks. Day to day work, like my Stunt, serving on a ship I'll treat it the same way I treat my uniform every day. I'll have it cleaned up and ready for "work" when called into service. Scuffs will happen and if something gets too messed up I'll be emailing ATA to get a replacement. Got to keep my armor ready. My stunt will be kept as clean as possible. Sure don't want to get jacked up by Lord Vader, doesn't seem the lenient type.
  12. True that. Thanks for making me feel welcome. Once I get my TK number and 501st access it shouldn't be too far off to apply for Expert Infantry. That's where I'll be stopping for the moment though. Riveted on the sniper knee plate. And I have lurked around enough build threads to know that's a no no for Centurion. Getting ahead of myself here though. Thanks again for all the support!
  13. Thanks to all for the awesome build threads and help when I asked for it. Just got my TK approved and now I wait for my TK number. The goal will be Expert Infantry. Shouldn't take too long as I built it using the Expert Infantry criteria. Again, thanks! Couldn't have done it without you FISD.
  14. I'm in the same boat. I have the second set of ears on. Still not totally happy with them. Going to try to rotate and possibly move down a little to see if that will close the gap. Damn ears! You will not beat me!!!!
  15. I'm 5"11inches and 152 pounds. I went into this the same way. I wasn't sure if I would be able to build a kit. In the end I went with ATA. My kit came untrimmed and unassembled. Opening that box was awesome and scary at the same time. I researched build threads, bookmarked a bunch and went to work. Don't think I ever cut an actual straight line, thank God for cover strips! In the end however mine turned out just fine. Either way you decide to go, enjoy it! This is just what worked for me. I am by no means handy. And whenever I asked a question the FISD was here to help. Awesome collection of people here.
  16. Working on my first kit now. I have an RT-MOD helmet that I bought assembled, using it until I get the helmet done that came with the kit. Just for the body armor though it took about 3 months. I will be submitting my pictures to my local garrison for approval in the next few weeks. Just want to clean up the armor a little bit. Some glue ran here and there. Nice to see I'm in the average 3 month range. Thought it would take longer. I had no problem with the thighs, it was the shins that kicked my *&%. They took about a week.
  17. I did it because of what was mentioned above. Makes it harder to see your face. Used a rubberized truck bed liner spray. I'll do it to all my helmets. As many as my wife will allow that is.
  18. Just as the title says, there are a few parts where I used a little too much glue and it came out the side of the cover strip. I heard some people use Goo Gone, just curious if that's the best method or is there another way?
  19. Just found a local Humbrol source so I'll be going with that. Thanks.
  20. Going to be using Testors paint foe the helmet and AB buttons. I don't believe I need to sand the areas first, just clean them up. Does Testors work good for the painting? Thanks.
  21. I'd be afraid of a one piece. At least with a 2 piece bathroom breaks are a little easier. Just my personal opinion. I took advice from here and went with Eastbay and I love it!
  22. Not sure how tall I am in meters but I'm 5 foot 11 inches tall. Weigh 152pds. I'm in the progress of my ATA build right now. I basically had to trim almost every piece to make it fit my smaller frame. Width wise but not height. My armor is still kinda roomy in the AB section and chest area. I'd email ATA and ask him what he thinks regarding your measurements. Or wait until someone more your size answers this post. It won't take long for others to chime in, really helpful people around here.
  23. Once I'm done my armor I plan on going for a walk in the neighborhood but I'm on a Canadian Military Base. Still going to make sure that someone will be with me though. There's only so much room in my basement to walk around. Was thinking about getting the mail in armor so the ladies at the post office know what all the big boxes coming through marked costuming supplies are. Who knows what they are thinking.
