  1. Check out the RotJ styling- it doesn't have those side rivets, no visible straps over the biceps, there's a bunch of the 'slapped together'-looking details that were eliminated. Just ignore all those missing O2 cans on Endor (hey, they could breathe anyway, right?)
  2. I agree, but he says 'some of'. Which ones?
  3. That thing is amazing! And working the ISD styling into it takes it in a whole different direction. I want to see the armour that thing goes with...
  4. People have replaced the barrel retaining screws with real ones. I have no idea what size they are, but that doesn't matter, because... There they are. $2 each. Which holes haven't been drilled? A picture could be worth a thousand words.
  5. Awesome to hear all went well! Having as much fun as the crowd- that, my friend, is what you want! Why not make it detailed? You can have a super-elaborate history and backstory for your character without telling the whole 4-hour epic saga to every single person who asks. So long as you can quickly tell them what system you're from, what your last battle was, and maybe why you fight for the Empire, that's heaps for a casual fan. Have a ton of material that you can siphon down to basic details and expand on from there (if the person seems sufficiently interested in knowing more about your character). Interestingly enough, once your character has enough backstory, they'll have character motivations (eg. I fight for the Empire because it represents security to me), and it will, in turn, begin to influence the way you act when in 'full' character. And then you won't have to think about how to act, because your character's history and motives will predetermine it. EDIT: Theatre, etc. is fun.
  6. I absolutely echo what has been said about developing a backstory. And yes, you never need have stagefright because noone can see you, only a TK. But I must add this: COMEDY. Comedy, comedy, comedy! A TK's face is the best joke-telling face ever. "Can't you tell this is my serious face??" Try it. EVERYTHING YOU EVER DO WILL BE 20% FUNNIER IN ARMOUR.
  7. Looking great! My only suggestion would be to re-hang the drop boxes, right under the tabs at the ends of the belt. They should sit more to the sides than the front.
  8. That wsas the most hilarious thing about this guy- he actually claimed that they're faucet aerators. I mean, dude, if it was that simple, we wouldn't have to recast them, right? We'd just buy them from a plumber...
  9. IT WAS ME! And yeah, I think the wording on the T-tracks requirement needs to be adjusted. It currently reads the same on ANH and both ESB's. Also, could we get a picture of Vern's blaster as the example? That extra hole behind the bayonet lug got me all confused!
  10. Tango'd does all the parts you need to greeblie up an ESB E-11. All the other odd parts you need come with the base Doopy's kit (just cut off the D-ring, bayonet disc and the mag realease button). I love both looks (the pimped-out greeblie version and the stripped back version). I'm pretty tempted to start a second build when I finish this one...
  11. 37mm x 27mm x 6mm (just measured one of Tango'd Fett's casts) EDIT: Sorry, just realised how old this question was.
  12. Y'know, the screws through the concrete clips and that other... thing. Whatever it is. Pretty sure the ones in the clips were flat-headed, but can anyone point me to the exact screws? (I realise this question may seem a little vague, but anyone who knows about stunt greeblie E-11's should get it)
  13. This sounds to me like it might be overcomplicating things (most successful helmet systems I know are simple ones). But that's no reason not to give it a try. You could start a trend... Just be sure to share the awesome results if it works!
  14. My new strapping system (still in progress, most of my suit is re-done, and still wearable in the meantime) and slight extra leg trimming. I can now run, kneel, sit, crouch, I can almost squat! And you wouldn't think it to look at my legs when I'm standing normally. Also, my chin strap! I would have lost my helmet yesterday without it. Re bio breaks: I always avoid too much coffee and have a wee before I suit up, and I've never needed to go during a troop (even the 11 mile walk with TK-6283). I actually regret cutting my cod.
  15. I don't understand why we're looking at reference pics of a stunt greeblie E-11 when the build in this thread is a film version. Sure, they've got the same scope, grip and stock, but that's where the similarities end...
  16. The ESB film version E-11's were really simplified, IIRC. No power cylinders, no Hengstler, just an M-19 and T-tracks. But the Stunt version is way cooler... (making one atm, and Tango'd Fett's parts are very nice indeed). It's a good idea, the convertible Trooper. Makes me want to get a decent ANH lid...
  17. You'll find that after a few troops in your kit you'll know exactly where you want more trimmed anyway...
  18. I've put snaps through 2mm thick plastic using a hammer and tool. Vario pliers give neater results. I always put some tape over the base of the snap to stop the metal from contacting the glue (Vern is quite right with his warning). A suggestion: Instead of plastic snap tabs, you can just put the male snap through some webbing or elastic and glue that inside your armour instead. It means less time cutting out plastic.
  19. Is it just me, or is this guy: ----------- Actually starting to look more like a Rubies than a 'proper' helmet? Like, if you recast that helmet a couple more times, could this TK be the grandaddy of the licensed helmets?
  20. Awesome stuff! That chest box is out of control! What was going on with those belts? Trooper on the right looks like it's falling off, and the TK on the left doesn't even seem to have one?
  21. It can totally be done. I'm 5'10" and only ~120lbs and I made FX armour fit me. However, it's a whole heap of extra work. As Steve said, you may be better just getting armour that fits from the get-go. ATA is in roughly the same price range as AM. Sure, it's not trimmed, but you're going to have to trim AM to make it fit nicely anyway. Also, don't panic about the handiwork- everyone here will be happy to help you out, we all learn by doing.
  22. How did this guy end up paying €1500 for waht he's got there? That's the one bit that doesn't seem right to me...
  23. This is fantastic work! I think Mason's right on with the nomenclature. Endor and Death Star versions ftw.
  24. TPM, AotC, RotS... (not as important for TKs, I know) HIPS?
