  1. You could completely eliminate the bump with a sealing iron. As has been said, leave it there if you want a screen accurate Stunt lid. If you're going Hero, ditch the bump (and a few other things). You've said you want to do an ANH kit- figuring out whether you want to do Stunt or Hero is your next choice to make...
  2. Although it's been established since, there might be no real reason Uncle George chose those letters. After all, why R2? Why 3PO? Why THX-1138? Hell, why OB-1? (hehe) If you play the Battlefront games, all troops have names made of two random letters and random numbers (QJ-384, UE-709, whatevs). They also gave Clones a similar thing (with Greek letters instead, ie Alpha-479). It may have never been intended to be a desigantion at all, but actually that trooper's ID, or even his name. Who knows, it's all buried in mystery and retcons...
  3. It's pretty much just a TK with a pauldron. (true, they carry extra weapons in the game, good luck hiding 4 TDs and a minimag about your person...) Though it's not an approved costume, you could very easily do a regular TK, and wear the pauldron at informal events.
  4. I'd think AM for you and ATA for your friend would be a good fit. -My $0.02
  5. Yeah, that wouldn't surprise me. Funnily enough, the TK kits he's selling aren't even made by him. He's passing them along for someone else (I'll have to go dig out their email address...).
  6. Spec, you could always tell Bryce about this- tell him it's the best thing ever and he should totally get some other helmet so he can make his FX into a lamp!
  7. Uh, Wookiepedia isn't an official source. Nor is it a very good one. Did you read that list before you copy/pasted it? Apparently TKCs first appeared in ANH! Mang! We must have not paid any attention at all! Got screenshots?
  8. I can help you with some of these. 1) Yes, one rivet at each end (and they aren't covered over like on ANH/ESB belts). 3) They hang right under the rivets. 5) Possibly you could glue in some shims on the inside to connect them and then us ABS paste to fill/cover the join?
  9. That is quite cool! But won't it yellow a lot in a short time? (and possibly melt a bit if you leave it on for too long?)
  10. You can attach strapping directly to plastic using E6000. It works quite well.
  11. I would be inclined to agree it's better to reference from PC than from consoles, as PCs are capable of higher resolution and detail (with the obvious proviso that you be running said PC at higher res than the console ). Be it the BD releases of the films or higher-def screens of the games, I firmly feel we should always be using the best references at our disposal.
  12. Yeah, PM this guy. ^^ He has an amazing eye (and brain) for details. Doing a LukeTrooper is not overambitious at all! It means you'll want to pay attention to the specific details of Luke's armour, but that's handy- some of the best closeup shots of armour ARE of Luke and Han in disguise, so the details are all there to see. As for your height, keep in mind we have troops ranging in height from hardly over 5 foot all the way to to THAT GUY MAKES VADER LOOK BAD. If I recall correctly, the troops in the film ranged from 5'7" to 5'10" (Mark Hamill is 5'6"). At 5'7", you'd do fine as a Luke.
  13. This innovative feature provides ventilation, thus keeping Troopers cool in the heat of battle.
  14. Having two differnt patterns to choose from could be a good thing. After all, if you get two TKCs standing next to each other, it'll look better if they don't have the exact same weathering. More realistic. My $0.02, anyhow.
  15. The major consideration you'd want to keep in mind is your body type. If you're built big (over 6 foot and/or quite solidly built), RTmod or AM could be a better choice. However, if you don't have to go BIG in size, you may as well go BIG in quality. I guess the only other thought would be: Do you want to do a RotJ trooper? If so, CfO armour is probably your best bet. My $0.02.
  16. ^^ This guy right here- If you get him to build you a blaster, it'll be GOOD. Nay, GREAT. He knows his Sterlings and Blastechs quite well. Incidentally, he also makes scope rails.
  17. ANH Stunts and Heros are allowed to carry DLT-19s. Given that the DLT-19 has a set of EIB requirements, I'd say it must be usable for EIB. If you want to go for maximum accuracy, your DLT-19 trooper should not have a holster. Here's a reference shot: You do not need an E-11 or a holster for basic approval. I have neither at this point, and I'm approved. tl;dr- If you want to carry a DLT-19, go for it. No, you don't need an E-11.
  18. It might be because my screencaps are taken at 1920x1200 SUPER HI-DEF. EDIT: I'm going to try and get some ultra-crisp TFU screens in the near future.
  19. I just noticed this thread: http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=18039 And I thought to myself, "makerofthings!? Again? Really?" I think it's time to make a list of the known, long-running eBay offenders, to save everyone some time. Just a simple, "If [THIS GUY] makes it, don't even bother looking." So I'll start it off: makerofthings! - From the US. Accurate but flimsy styrene armor, good for display only. treckfreek - Australian. Sells recast FX kits (with two left shins). dallasvintagetoys - US, sells the same recast FX. (good toys there, though) jimjedi3002 - US. Sells bad recast AP armour. Surely some people can add to this list.
  20. You would need to paint the soles white for RotJ.
  21. I saw a pair of these while helping Spectre with his build. I have the old TKs and I'm so jealous! I always find the ankles of my boots trying to pop out from under my greaves, the higher ankles on these would totally solve that. Makes me want to buy another pair...
  22. Actually, There were some details on the Battlefront cans (even thought they were only half-round).
  23. Slightly off-topic, but I'm confused about this: (from http://www.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TK_anh_hero) Emphasis mine. Isn't it kind of self-defeating to have that in the CRL? If it's an informal event, you could pretty much carry around whatever non-canon swag you want (if you're so inclined).
  24. It could work, so long as it doesn't rub off on contact (like bumping into a wall or receiving a hug).
