Clank with pride! If you and your fellow TKs are following behind Vader put a little p-funk swagger in your step and do what you can to drown out the big man's asthma. Stormtroopers serve with cacophonous loyalty.
Aloha,

I'm near giving up. Turning off stuff has been an education for me in ip board... And mostly for placating our hosting provider by doing _something_.
I have been following the advice ipb experts. What I realize now is that people turn off these features on an ip board to help with a poor performing website. Our forum website hums right along. That means none of this won't help us, who just happen to use too much CPU time for our hosting provider's liking.
It sucks that we weren't archiving our web logs until recently. I can't go through them with a fine tooth script and find what the heck happened to trigger this madness.
I'm looking into getting FISD tote bags for the inevitable pledge drive.
Aloha and thanks again for your patience.
-Eric
Oh. Hm. I'm sure I did that. Probably when I disabled the new posts thingy box.
I'll goof with it tomorrow. There's no IE in my hizz-ouse.
Aloha,
-Eric
Amazing... we share the same language yet I rarely know what Rob is saying.
"Oh you crusty dragon, I really dropped a clanger. Now everything is all sixes and sevens even though I think she's the dog's bollocks."
No actually I'm playing up... I disabled it to see if that extra query is causing any undue CPU cycles. If it doesn't help.. and it won't... I'll put it back soon. The irony is that "view new content" is probably a more rigorous query than that little box.
And Karin? I'll only say that it was one press of a button in the forum admin control panel
Aloha,
-Eric
Your balls are back btw... so are the stars (but only for the FISD 2012 theme) It was so stupid and simple I'm ashamed to even say what it was.
Aloha,
-Eric
Wayne,
This is obviously the webserver's way of telling you to stop using IE.
You: "Why hello there, what do you think of internet explorer?"
FISD: "Monkeys!"
And yes... our web host is hal.skynet.net
Aloha,
-Eric
Have you tried taking a tryptophan supplement? I do 30 mins before bed after a few nights of waking up too early. It seems to help me get through the night. When I fly off island I use melatonin to signal to my body that it's bedtime to help with jet lag. In a real pinch it'll help me get my an impolite person asleep too.
Aloha,
-Eric
TKRestonDread,
Yeah sorry man. I disabled that feature temporarily to cut down on the number of queries on the database. If some of the work with the database I did today improves our server's performance I'll reenable it on Monday.
Both the "who is browsing this forum" and "who is browsing this topic" are disabled.
I was curious if anyone would notice... I'm sorta glad it was a staff member.
Aloha and thanks for your patience,
-Eric
(Hear the drummer get wicked)
Oh yeah. Totally annoying isn't it? This happens every time we upgrade the forum and no one but Zeroroom knows how to fix it. (I knew how once but have long since forgotten) We await his return.
Aloha,
-Eric
For the next few hours I disabled the forum search. I will try to have it back up and running shortly.
Apologies for those with a white plastic emergency.
-Eric
Email notifications should be working again.... and new posts seem to be faster (I hate you mysql).
What other weirdness are people seeing? Any odd PM behavior still?
