CONGRATS! She's so cute. :>

Ok so my AM armour is very nearly done, just a few more cosmetic and strapping things to do. I got my mum to take a bunch of photos of me fully kitted up and from a lot of angles/lengths. So here it is! ------ (Note: ab buttons aren't done yet, mic tips currently aren't in, belt isn't finished, thigh ammo pack isn't attached, and rank stripes aren't painted) What I've noticed already: - The shoulder bells need a strap to connect to the sternum strap on my suspenders to pull them forward a bit, they sit back too far. - The shins need velcro on the inside of the front to attach them to the boots so they don't spin around - I need to strap the chest plate to the ab plate (probably with velcro and elastic) to pull it down (and keep it down) and pull the back plate up. (I'll do that before the shoulder bell straps to see if they stay forward without a sternum strap.) - Add padding to the shins to help keep them snug against my legs - Make a small strap between the sides of the butt plate the thighs to keep the butt plate down? Should I do that? --------

To be honest I did that cos I needed a certain length of elastic that I didn't have. So I used the velcro straps supplied with the AM kit. I don't actually use the velcro, but I probably should haha Glad I could help though. -
My ATA Works kit is finally here!
Spectre replied to Solcar23's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Aw yeah, gotta love that brown box! Good work staying within your budget too, I got carried away and massively overshot mine. The ATA kit is a nice kit, good luck with the build. Any questions, just ask. -

That helmet looks awesome, and the padding is whatever works for you I reckon. Damn that SE-14 (or is it SR-14?) looks great. I want one of them and a DLT-19 so bad haha. Looking good so far. -
My new Helmet - What do you think?

Adjusted the strapping between the back and chest pieces, and adjusted the shoulder bell straps. This seems to have fixed most of the issues with the shoulders. I also fixed up the suspender-style straps that go over my shoulders between the ab and kidney plates by adding a sternum and shoulder blade strap to make the strap sit nicely. I riveted the left side of the ab and kidney plates together too, gonna work on some velcro and extra joins tomorrow. Added the snap to the top right of the ab plate too. OH! I reshaped my forearms again, and with a bit more success. One looks normal now, and the other almost looks normal. So I am leaving them as they are now, and I'll glue in snap plates tomorrow and stick in the velcro for the handplates. Also I shortened the strap between the butt and cod piece, it was just too long. So, now all that's left to do: - Attach plastic face to belt - Attach ab buttons and ab box to ab plate - Glue sniper plate to left knee - Rivet ammo pack to right thigh - Attach velcro to ab plate for left- and right-side joins - Glue TD together - Glue snap plates into forearms and stick in velcro - Attach thin white elastic straps to hold down shoulder straps - Attach brad/split rivet to cod piece - Sew 'stirrups' to my undersuit to stop the wrists and ankles riding up my legs and arms while trooping - Fill, sand and polish accidental drill holes on the left of the ab plate - Trim screws in helmet - Make ABS putty to afix mic tips nicely to the helmet - Paint rank stripes on helmet - Close drop boxes at the back - Replace shoulder strapping with white elastic (not immediately, I'll do that later for Centurion) AND THEN I'll be giving the whole thing a nice clean and polish to give it that 'I work on the Deathstar and never see combat unless we get attacked by some random rebel scum!!!' look. I am SO CLOSE!! I can taste it...tastes like ABS. -
Well, considering rivets on the left side are a Centurion requirement now I think they'll be fine for EIB
-
I'm hoping to get Centurion on my suit when I finish. Which means EIB first on course. Count me in boss!

How much should i cut on the arms?
Spectre replied to roony2311's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
Pretty much. As long as it's clamped with clamps or magnets to form strong bond it's all you should need. I highly recommend scoring the surfaces to be glued to give more surface area to glue to as well. -
Dayum that looks nice! Good luck on the build mate.

Had a test fitting of my armour again today. What I've noticed: - I need to shorten the straps between the chest and back plates, the back plate sits WAY too low. (not pictured) - I need to adjust the straps between the shoulder bells and the chest plate/back plate strap, they also sit too low. - The thighs need proper loop and belt garters made up, they sit too low and out seem to twist outwards too much. - The shins (not pictured) need to have padding inserted to raise them up a bit, they sit too low at the moment. - The back plate may require a little trimming to stop it overlapping the kidney plate. (not pictured) Other than those things I still need to: - finish painting ab buttons and attach to ab plate - glue together and paint my TD - paint rank stripes on my helmet - attach plastic face to canvas belt and attach drop boxes - attach snaps to ab plate to hold up the belt - rivet together the left sides of the ab and kindey plates - attach snap plates and velcro to forearms for biceps and handguards - reshape forearms - add velcro strap to shoulder bells to hold biceps in place - finish my blaster - add snap plates to attach back plate and kidney plate Can anyone see anything else I need to do? Or just general feedback is good. -
?Question? Are these boots acceptable?

A lot of people just buy these: http://www.tkboots.com/ and they are awesome, I have a pair, they are comfortable and work really well with the armour. -

Looks good. -
Yeah, drop box straps should be white, and not that wide, and yeah the boxes should also be moved more towards the sides, not much though, and a little higher. Good pick-ups Rob. The AM definitely is a really crisp suit, and I love it because it's made for my body type, so only minor trimming and no shimming required. Hell, even Pandatrooper managed to make it fit him, so really it's how determined you are I guess. I am so happy with mine though, it is a really, really nice kit IMHO.

what is your opinion on AP armor?
Spectre replied to dubVADER's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
I heard that there's a slight issue with the shin alignments at the back, esaily fixed, but it's there. -
Also I think the drop boxes are meant to have white straps aren't they? Or is it personal preference? I dunno lol
-
Looks good mate. I also have an AM, almost finished. I reckon it's an awesome kit. While a lot of people don't think much of it because it's a little innacurate I reckon it's a brilliant kit. Good work.

Have you tried searching for a topic about this? I swear I remember reading something like this before..might have been on my local forums though.

Need help with helmet strapping stuff

Foam is definitely the way to go. I used two pieces together to get a good fit, although I would personally prefer to buy one of Trooperbay's foam stars. You can check my setup out in my build thread here: -------- There are a lot of options, some look a lot better than others...better than mine anyway.
