  1. I prefer hammer and setting tool to pliers. sets the snaps better.
  2. Yeah that's how they came. Good old AM I've left return edges anywhere I could. I figure I'll try it out with them for a while and trim them down or off as I need to.
  3. Hey mate. You may not have much confidence in yourself or your abilities but believe me, it's not as hard as it looks. I started this with absolutely zero experience and confidence, and now I've almost completed my suit and I'm ready to start another! After you make a few cuts and make a little progress your confidence will increase. Add some armour parties to that and you'll have an awesome suit in no time. Just gotta measure thrice and cut once.
  4. Woo! Go ZeroRoom!
  5. Mate, you're going like a pro! Had you not said otherwise I would have thought you'd been building helmets all your life. Great work so far.
  6. Ok, so I received my belt, helmet fans and paint today. I painted the ab buttons and repainted the helmet (first coats) I also made a few straps. I made the ones for my shoulder bells to biceps, half of the ones for the bicep to forearm, and the ones from chest plate to back plate (which I think might be too long). I am going to have to do the belt and loop option for the thighs, which I suppose I knew I would. The velcro simply cannot hold. The chest plate/back plate strapping. I think it's a bit too long..not sure yet. Haven't done a full fitting. The strapping for the shoulder bells to biceps. I also glued a snap plate onto my cod piece. More to come tomorrow.
  7. It might be worth taking the forearms apart and trimming them a tad more. They look pretty massive on you. If you want you could angle the cut so that the wrist end stays wide enough that you can get your hand through but the forearm will still be thinner towards your elbow. Looks awesome though mate.
  8. ROFL. XD Eric, you never fail to make me laugh! Haha Noah, didn't know you were into that.
  9. To-do list: - Glue inner strips to forearms and reshape again (DONE) - Glue inner strips to the front of the shins - Glue snap plates to the top of the kidney plate and the bottom of the back plate (DONE) - Glue snap plates to the inside of the thighs and inner elbows of forearms (THIGHS DONE) - Glue a snap plate to the cod piece - Finish hand plate strapping (DONE) - Trim sides off back plate (DONE) - Finish the thermal detonator - Attach plastic 'face' to my canvas belt - Wait for the parts to finish my blaster - Wait for paints to repaint my helmet - Make elastic suspenders for ab and kidney plates - Paint ab buttons and attach to ab plate - Attach drop boxes to belt Centurion requirements: - Split rivet ammo belt to the right thigh - Glue sniper plate to the left shin - Add split rovet to the cod piece - Rivet the ab and kidney pieces together on the left - Replace black webbing 'bridge' between chest and back plates with white elastic - Hold down ribbed straps with small white elastic - Attach drop boxes to belt and close the backs - Trim corners of plastic belt face at a 45 degree angle
  10. I thought so, I couldn't do it in the EIB thread the other day.
  11. Awesome work guys. That's some grade-A awesome right there.
  12. Yay! Congrats! Well deserved. Now get out and start trooping!
  13. Hey! Yep, that's the plan, I've glued the inner shim to the left forearm and am waiting for it to cure. I will glue shims in the right forearm tomorrow night. Thanks! The AM is definitely a nice sharp kit, I am very happy with it. I just can't wait to wear it!
  14. I thought it was looking really good.
  15. DUDE! That is so cool! The Joker one is absolutely incerdible!
  16. The boobies are on the main site. Click Julie's link, then click the 'Moo Moo Spheres' text above the photo. I mean I don't know how to get there...
  17. Hand plate strapping is done (Pandatrooper style), back plate trimming marked with tape. Left forearm inner strips curing. Both biceps' snap plates curing.
  18. I didn't break out in a sweat, but I was pretty worried when I started! Just take it slow and ask if you're unsure, you'll be right.
  19. Hey Pat. I know that feeling! Yeah, RT-Mod and AM definitely are your best bets. AM is a little less screen accurate but I think it is bigger than the RT, not sure on that though. DarthAloha has a really really good RT-MOD build thread, and so does Pandatrooper. Both are pinned in the ANH Build threads section, try checking them both out for a bit of a comparison.
  20. Not much to do now: - Glue inner strips to forearms and reshape again - Glue inner strips to the front of the shins - Glue snap plates to the top of the kidney plate and the bottom of the back plate - Glue snap plates to the inside of the thighs and inner elbows of forearms - Glue a snap plate to the cod piece - Finish hand plate strapping (DONE) - Trim sides off back plate (DONE) - Finish the thermal detonator - Attach plastic 'face' to my canvas belt - Wait for the parts to finish my blaster - Wait for paints to repaint my helmet - Make elastic suspenders for ab and kidney plates - Paint ab buttons and attach to ab plate - Might edit this post and add more here as I see it Centurion requirements: - Split rivet ammo belt to the right thigh - Glue sniper plate to the left shin - Add split rovet to the cod piece - Rivet the ab and kidney pieces together on the left - Replace black webbing 'bridge' between chest and back plates with white elastic - Hold down ribbed straps with small white elastic
  21. I could make that look legit...actually no. I don't think anyone could. O_o
  22. Boiling water should work, and it won't damage the plastic. Just be sure to hold it in the right shape so it isn't unevenly shaped when it cools. However I'm not entirely sure how it would go because of the original shape, not sure if it would flatten easily or not.
  23. Rofl, what? That's great.
  24. Personally, I just went with what was good for me. I bought an AM because I am 6' 1"/6' 2" and 93kg. It was also relatively cheap, and I just got a MTK helmet to go with it. I know the AM is not really as screen-accurate as other makers but from my P.O.V it's great. Nice crisp pull, great detail. Maybe not 100% screen accurate, but I love it. The TM is a kickass set of armour. But I say check out what's available and go with what you like the look/price of. Having said that though...I would recommend TM as well.
