I am on the fence about listing makers. Starts flame wars, and well... That gets old. All the Vader stuff I have reviews on NoDisentagrations. Trust me, Mr Master Chief Helmet guy got a blister on eBay, doubly so for he refuses to answer my emails. yippie. For 61 bucks I guess I cant complain. Still stings, but Ill fix the turd. I see positive feedback, guys gushing about how great it is and all. Am I the lone whiner? This is as good as it gets? I own 6 Vader helmets. 3 unwearable. Now maybe I am a little harsh. Most of the Uber collections don't wear this stuff. I do. However, shipping and packing is just unacceptable. If you sell something, it SHOULD survive transit. At minimum. As far as in Stormtrooper stuff, so far outside of one helmet that was busted, (so was everyone else on that run) I have had a blast. Good comms, good stuff and such. Most of my Vader stuff is top notch. Just here as of late I seem to have landed on the back of the turnip truck in prop buying. Sucks.

Here you go. My examples. I have had more, but this will do. Pics tell it best. If my thumb is in the shot, I am showing thickness. The newest let down. Resin helmet, bought on eBay. Casting marks. Yeesh. Plus a sweet mold line. Yea! <_< Thickness. High end Vader chest box. Less than 1/16" in places, don't ask the price. <_< Got this in trade, glad about that. Another Vader helmet. Resin mask. Thin. Yet another. Yep... that is daylight through the casting, its that thin. Busted during shipping and totaly crap paint. Yes, a real asset. Cant give it away. <_< Top notch guy too. <_< Some of these I had a pretty good idea what I was getting into. I know wonky, not perfect, all that. Really, this is a shout out to prop guys. Take time in the stuff you charge for. Would you want this stuff on your door step? What if you paid these prices for this stuff?
-
The prop i just got would normally go for 180 to 200 bucks. Tops it cost him in resin maybe 40. I have been disappointed in vacced stuff as well, but not on this level. I am just sick of crappy parts from "good" sellers. <_< Go figure... quick to want money on eBay and slow to answer problems post sale. Pretty standard. Ill take some pics. I am sure you all will agree when I show you what I am talking about. Really, I agree with the thought" get what you pay for" as well. The closer I get to understanding the process of this stuff the less I am willing to accept.

Yea... kinda in the realm of Fanmade. I do agree that most of the 1 to 1 licensed stuff needs help.

I opened another disappointing box today. Chalk up another prop to the "major fixes before wearing" pile. *sigh* This was to be a gift. Turn around time of pretty quick to boot. Alas, between the post office and the poor packing its busted. Or so I thought. Looking at the casting, its just thin. Tell the truth, it just pushes me closer to loosing interest in the hobby. I am sick of poor casted stuff, thin casted stuff... over priced for the quality it shows up in. Either Vader or any other stuff I have bought as of late. Can I fix it? Yea... but not the point. Hell I might as well make this stuff myself as much as I have to fix. How much more would it cost to cast it thicker? Now that I am SO close to cranking on some stuff, I know the cost of resin, fiberglass and time in it. How hard is it to put out good stuff? Is it the drive for money? "They will never know" mentality? I want to know what you all think. Prop debacles lately for you all?

TK4258 Requesting EIB ESB.[96][AP]

I want the sheet! Good luck! -
TM to AP. Kinda like Apples to Oranges. Really, TM is very very different than any of the other armor in fandom. At least on the helmet, as I have had the AP next to the TM... I have never seen AP armor first hand. --------------

1st ISD exclusive femtrooper pics!
Runnriottt replied to Femtrooper Julie's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Some things I see... Hope you are cool with some observations. First, man... Rivets kill a set of armor to me. Paint them white to match. It will look better. You are a small frame, so lots of trimming and fitting is needed. PITA, but well worth it. I think you could pull off a set like the one above. Granted, that is a drawing, the real world armor will fit a tad different, but you get the idea. Painting the TD is a big help, as the guys said above. Your chest and back armor could be a little more fitting to you as well. Forearms need sized to take away the bell shape. Because you are smaller, may want to shorten them a tad. For the thighs could trim them down from the top to be a little more comfy as they look as if they pinch. Where your knees bend is a trim point as well, those will kill you in about oh... 10 minutes. Troop on! -
Nope. Not a nut. I love this holiday. I think it has a great appeal to it. Mine started last Friday. Me and the squirts headed out to a walk. We have a busy day planned this Saturday as well. We got a lot of complements so we are out to do it again. ------------

Ep4... I find your lack of faith disturbing. Ep5... Laugh it up fuzz ball... Ep6... Short help is better than no help... Ep3... (Vader's Breathing) Ep1,2. Dont know. I have maybe watched them a few times. Not to impressed with them.

Why shut us down? Licensed armor makers making good armor. Legal issues with this organization and its "suppliers". Pretty good reason. Gorge doesn't need good press. We as a group have lost touch. Propmakers and prop buyers all together. Nowhere did I say bootlegs will go away. The discussion will never go away. But advertising, open runs and waving it in others faces might and probably will. Disagree with me. Must have struck a nerve. Ill stay on the line Paul has drawn... Ill just put on my T shirt.

To clean, or not too clean?

Its Perfect. Really. Keep on trooping bro. -
The beef with SDS is the Liz Moore snub. AA actually said he sculpted the helmet and armor. He did not. Did he make it? Yea... he made it. He is the tooling person, not the artist. Really, all recasters and for that matter casters are tooling. TM however debated by some did from the ground up sculpt the stuff he makes copies of and that is cool. Really, that is rare as for the community looks for the screen ones. TMs may be the closest thing we ever get though. AA just looked to be riding the cash cow with spurs on. Not doubting his movie contributions, but his actions make many in the community mad.

Delete the posts that start fights. Paul, I disagree here with you a tad. You and I share the same outlook on many things, but LFL owns it all. Yes. I agree outright TM, TE2 and the others that support the community are inside this community an asset. To LFL however... There a liability. Personal use is a loose term. When some of the figures get tossed around (such as TE has done on youtube...lie or not) LFL will raise an eyebrow if not the Gavel. I am soon (finally) to make helmets in Vaderland but I still know my position in the world of who owns what. Having sections devoted to this argument is just dangerous in my opinion. I am not all gloom and doom. Some post about drama. Yea it is. The RPF thrives on it sometimes. I would hate to see this get like that. You all want a fight it out section.. Cool. Just be ready for the problems that come with it. Information is not secret on the main board, and I really don't see this as a positive section.

He has. Museum Replicas.

Ill go on a limb and say... Both. Realistically the ANH are easier to approve via GML. We have very good reference and such and really a good pack is not all that hard to build. Parts lists are out there and all is obtainable. If the Game pack was done well... That should have no difficulty being approved. Far harder, as of this moment no one to my knowledge has tackled it. My .o2

This is a dangerous section. I don't like it at all. Not the debate, but the fact its here. This is a trooping community, not a prop one, and at that one that is tentative to even be here. Leave it to the "propsafe" drum beaters. I know I have been slammed for my views before, backed the wrong horse once... but really... This is just going to get ugly. I have been around long enough now to have seen both sides, have my opinion changed and everything else. When Uncle Gorge pulls the plug... WE LOSE. This just adds fuel to that fire. If you all don't think he is watching... your all naive. This IS his paycheck. I say we SHUT UP and TROOP. ALL armor makers need to remember that none of us have a license. That means, short and sweet, no room to complain at any level. If you want to get a set of big boy pants that comes with the license. Yes, go to those you trust. Never changed that view I have. Thing is WE as a community are getting far far to bold. WE HAVE NO RIGHTS. NONE. Modified, improved, cast, recast, sold the "rights", sculpted, CNC'd, paprikura, based on... any other excuse I can think of. Bla Bla Blah. Its all not yours. No one can stop recasting. The Pandora's box is open. Education is the key. Quality and trust yes... top notch. That comes through research and talking to troopers that know things. Ebay is flat out evil, but again... LFL is gracious enough to let us even sell stuff. Try that with DC or Marvel. Good luck. We have lost our minds. Dig a bomb shelter. Hide. PM only. No Origin threads at any level. That is my vote. Bootleg is bootleg.
