My ATA helmet build.[*ATA]

Ahhh... Progress. -
What you call pouches are what we normally call drop boxes. They are a clam shell design, but that is not needed for EIB. Also, the snap count, the way its assembled is not nailed down to that much detail you show. Yes... The look must be right to your body, but not to the bolt count. FBJ, TM and Stuka really have set the bar high, but those details are optional even for EIB. Hell, I am not going as far as these guys, but still my suit is on its way to EIB. Following one of there builds would be a good way to assure EIB though. Top notch blokes there man! The strap you show is not orange. It was and should be a tan color. Age and dirt give it a tint, but that is not orange. Off white really. The internal strapping is not shown really in any ref pics that we all have access to. It really doesn't matter on the color, its under the armor. Most use black but as long as its under the armor no one will ever know. Hope that helped a tad.

When you all say cargo strapping... You mean for lifting with a crane Right? The soft straps that lift stuff... Now have you thought of ship based stuff? I always think low ball on ANH. He had no budget, so cheap would have been the key. I think shipping container ships, military surplus... that stuff. When I worked on the line building train cars they used the poly, but I have seen canvas and such in foreign ports bringing us supply. Just cause US code changed, does not mean that say Tunisian did... Then there are the nets. How many belts could be made from a net?

Looking good man!

What is the deal? Its slow all of a sudden, clunky and full of script issues. Total pain to use. Gmail is not my favorite... but at least it works kinda... Is there any other mail servers that dont suck? I tried Hotmail.. Hated it. Suggestions?

Snaps. Far more secure and can be made to be adjustable. My current setup allows me to adjust every part of the suspension system. It is less costly to just nail it the first time. I can adjust the straps with sliders, like on a backpack. Points at the crotch, the suspenders, and soon to include the arms and the thighs.

Runnriottt replied to Runnriottt's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
The only current addiction I have is well...Can you guess? I actually dig the white lid on the armor... Kinda cool. I however am on the hunger plan to decrease the size of the shims I need... -
TK-9135 V2.0 Full ESB
Runnriottt replied to Runnriottt's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Torso is done. Upper body is done. Helmet is done. E6000 is drying. All that is left is the arms and legs, then the belt. Pretty proud of my strap set up. By far the best I have done to date. I will be able to take the full arms off in one shot, upper body in another and the torso in yet another. all separate and comfy with plastic spring clips. Not 100% screen, but should troop like a dream, and who sees the straps anyway. Hey have to be functional in my book. Thighs to be supported with a waist belt as well. The only parts loose will be the shins. Manny looks like poo, but man... this set looks great on. Flat out love it. Should be able to run in this armor. Its that fitting. WhooOoO HOoooOO! -
Dr Martens Boots for Trooping?

Interesting boot design. I too dont like the sole, but not bad. Might be a good clone boot base as well. -

I free handed. Not recommended though. Good strong tape is another good way to do that. Updates tomorrow! WHoo HooOOo! -
Got a new Job. Been a way starting this one. I now work for Northrop Grumman, you know.. The guys that build the Stealth fighter and bomber... Love it. Not to shabby for an ex-squid engineer.

TK-9135 V2.0 Full ESB
Runnriottt replied to Runnriottt's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Start.... Stop. Start.... Stop.... Start! Wife is out of town, and I have a week all to my lonesome. Whoo hoo! I should be complete if not really close this week to FINALLY having armor built. How did you all trim strips to size? I am starting with the Torso build now! -
Fair enough. Offer still stands. I have grade 3 full welders shield yours free. That can save you up to as much as 25.00. If cut right yields at most 5 sets of flats. For the bubble maybe 3 sets. Follow the Tutorial and make em. Free is free. Just need to send it. Maybe Ill get of my keister and make bubbles. Last I knew Smitty made MRCE Bubbles. Guess I am wrong. Pass the salt, this hat needs it. Internet is a funny thing, no tone of voice, no interaction other than type. What may seem normal to you or I may be different to another person. I take you as snide, and still kinda do. I can move on with it. Its a plastic costume. I am not out for you, just pointing you to the information I had. I know Smitty had the templates I sent him for MRCE. I wish you luck on your search.
-
All helmets covers MRCE. I know he does, I sent him templates. Smitty is who you seek. But you know what, buy what you want. Welcome to the FISD. Where troopers help troopers. Batting a thousand on your first thread man. Just so you know. FYI. All caps means your yelling. Yep... Torqued me a tad. Ill put my money where my mouth is. Want some lens plastic? PM me your address. Ill send you a sheet free. Make the bubbles with a spoon and a blow drier.
-
You seek Smitty. Most all you seek can be found with reading here. Just bad form that's all. When I was selling on eBay, I was legit, thing is eBay just wants to much money and is killing the little guy. I offered lenses for 6.00 shipped, eBay and paypal would keep no less than 3.00 a sale. That is nuts. Many lens on eBay are for almost 20 bucks and 5 dollar shipping. Again, nuts. Don't fall into the trap so many do, wallet first and buy it now mistakes. Read, read, read. Why buy things twice? Not everything on eBay is rare, screen accurate, Molded from original or trustworthy. Now there are good deals, and in education here you will spot them.

Wearable that can take up close inspection. Screen accurate is awesome, but not always practical. I love my new Ghostbuster costume. It is by far my most "Prop accurate" costume I have save for Vader. The builds though are far different. My Vader is rather robust, while the GB is not. Both are accurate, but one is better suited for costume wear. Vader. Now as far as TK... Thing with me is what TK are you trying to replicate? Almost every trooper is different. So its a gamble anyway. Looks the part and is close, good to me on the TK. Vader I shoot for the ESB Promo look. That way I nail it as close as I can. Easier target. So many TK changes trooper to trooper, you have to just aim at one and be happy. Not every trooper is assembly line made. I like low and mid brow helmets, ESB troopers. My new Vader cape and robe is in the mail... I am a glove mod and belt assembly away from my dream costume. Soon.......... Screen accurate as I can get.

Love the face.Sharp pull, no weak spots. Dome is a tad soft, but all in this line are a tad soft. Well formed though. I love that there are full 5 teeth. Man. That is a sharp feature. No complaints at all. Will assemble and troop just fine... ANH for this one. I am planning on doing a tutorial on the Japanese Garrison boards with it. So, ANH stunt. -

New Toy! Whoo Hoo! Build Thread!

Wow... Right up my alley... Used to write these things up every month as well. Spot on. I think staff should be allowed as well. It should not be expected, like the Navy Achievement medal is expected at your end of tour... All the above are great nominations. I think all of them deserve a medal. I nominate Stukatrooper. "For meritorious service as helmet and build technician with the First Imperial Stormtrooper Detachment, your quality building, tutorial skill and willingness to teach at a command level has risen the bar for hundreds of prospective troopers and current troopers alike. Your continued dedication to the 501st and to your Detachment brings honor to your self and is in keeping with the highest traditions of Trooper Service."
