  1. I think then i am going to use snaps on the ABS strips i got with the kit to fill the gap. that way it is removable. I am using navy uniform belts for all the suit suspension, they look sharp. Ill have to post pics. One more thing on the chest and back, Might sound silly, but how far can you turn your head? My helmet is almost stationary, it hits the chest.
  2. Is there another way to keep the upper chest and back together other than the elastic? I have been digging around and dont see one... i think it looks to far apart. thought about a small piece of belt with snaps to the ab plate and back plate... on another note, how much gap do yall think is good in the middle of the ab and back plate? I have been thinking of shiming it solid looking from the back plate.
  3. Well here is the handle and where i am so far on the protptype. This is solid aluminum, Billit is the word in the machine world, it is light and looks good flat or polished. I still need to make the tines, I will use aluminum also. I have duty tommorow and shoul get it finished. Whatcha think so far yall? handle pics
  4. OK, so I am building the shin armor... and the instructions say to use velcro on the knee plate and the thigh bangolier... seems kinda loose on a moving part. anyone have a better mounting method? I havent commited to gluing the clamshells yet. I have velcro all around for now untill i get a good fit...
  5. Ill have a proto type this week. I think the one on ebay is way to big as well. From the screen shots, its not much bigger than Lukes hand. The logo is a little cheezy as well imo... Ill get pics for you all this week I hope, and go from there...
  6. Going off of the pics TK 8020 linked to the thread it looks like the box is the width of the belt. If you want to "rope" to extend, then i think the box size would depend on the reel used. I am going to the hardware store on the way home to check some things. I believe the handle in the screen shots made of plastic hose thread adapter fittings, and the reel is the key holder reel type. I might have to just make the tines and the weight on the end of the handle. I am still going to work on making a working one, so if you show a kid or something it would look cool... The only downside to a working one is someone could hook you to something... LOL
  7. Whew... I can do this alot easier with out the hooks moving. Ill get you pics as soon as i get one done.
  8. So I am looking at the photos of this thing... I realize two things... 1. The detailed picture seems to be diffrent from the one Luke is using. This one looks like someones attempt. It is way easyer to make though. Luke is holding what looks to be a "threaded" (for lack of better terms) handle attached to a three pronged hook. 2. Does the hook have to work. I cant for the life of me figure out how to make the tines (or hook grapples) work. From the pictures I cant see any hinges. To be cannon did the hook part work or were there two props? I guess I want to know how you all think the prop should work, then Ill have a better idea on where to take the design next. Now, where did I leave that free time?... I know its around here somewhere...
  9. I am going to give this a try... I am a machinist and might be able pull off the hook. Ill keep you posted... If anybody has a high res pic that would be great! you could use one of those key holder wire spring loaded things for the "rope". the box would have to be fabbed though... Might be easier out of light sheet metal painted white. hmmm... got my puzzler puzzling....
  10. I can tell you from experience to take your time, ask questions and listen to the answers. I have made mistakes, mostly with my TB, mostly at first with the purchace. I didnt know about sites like these, and went in blind. If you are on a budget, then make every penny count, research and spend money wisely. Dont go the route of a freind of mine and get a "good deal" suit that has no useable parts. Be very careful on that famous auction site, I cant stress that enough. He got burned on it. I can say though that anything worth having is worth having at its best, so that normaly means pricy... good luck man...
  11. With all that stuff in the tote, how do you all prefer to protect your armor form dents and scratches? I can just stack it in there, but creative ways to protect it elude me at this point...
  12. The vending wheel dosent hold any killing power compaired to "THE MESSLINE..." Who really expects to get a good lunch from a place called a mess?
