Getting a bit older and putting on a kilo or two seems like I need to add some shims so that I close the gap between the abdomin and the kidney plate. I think they are pretty clear. When joining attaching the shim there was a very small gap. I filled this with ABS paste and then a sand down. A little bit of white primer then a colour match using Tamiya white gloss acrylic and a little bit of Tamiya buff. That just takes the sharpness of pure white off. Hope this is useful.2 points

I'll be posting photos once I've gotten up the nerve to take them, but here goes. In late February/early March of this year a medication I'm taking regularly for an endocrine issue was increased and I started gaining weight incredibly quickly. My starting weight was approximately 155 lbs and as of the day I'm writing this (27 June) it's sitting at 191 lbs. This is despite walking nearly 3 miles to and from work 5 days a week and some serious dietary changes made in the last two months. I've yet to speak to an endocrinologist or my family doctor about this weight gain, but I'm hoping they'll be able to help me nail down the proper dose of my medication. I haven't actually got my TK armour built yet, partly because I haven't known where to start and partly because I've been feeling a bit insecure about my weight, but I'd love to get closer to my goal weight while working on putting it together. My current weight: 191 lbs Goal weight: 150 lbs Exercise plan: Elliptical & stationary cycle 10km each, 4 days a week, lane swimming 2 days a week (no set distance goal yet), possibly free weights, but I'm not sure yet Lifestyle plan: eat more healthily and try to cut most added sugar out of my diet (I love ice cream and my partner's mum is a habitual baker, so this might be a bit difficult, but I'm here to give it a shot haha!) Anyways, thanks everyone for sharing your stories and goals. I'm feeling even more committed to getting in shape and sharing my progress with you all Cheers!2 points

I know I am not the first one to do this type of thing, but several people in other boards have asked for some kind of tutorial for the new transport cases I just made. While I don't exactly have a full tutorial, I did write something up that at least will let you get an idea of some parts to try out, and hopefully inspire some others to theme their bins. I do this for all of my costumes, and I feel like it adds something to roll up to a troop with a bin that hints at the costume you are about to suit up in. I usually add lights, because many Star Wars crates have lights, and I try and make it a bit in-universe (like no standard lettering). Because my bin was a little smaller to fit it all (and because many times we also bring just the bucket), I made a separate helmet case. Because my ANH Stunt build was my first really clean costume with no weathering (and I LOVE weathering), I was able to get some weathering in these cases to get that out of my system. Below I will show some shots of the cases, and follow it with some build notes. Note: I do not build these on commission. They are a labor of love, and part of the costume build that I love to build over a month in the early morning hours in my cold garage, but do not want to do these for money. If Instagram is your thing, I post things like this under the username "Oddviking" The helmet case: I wanted to make something protective, and just large enough to fit around the helmet with some foam inside: These decals were used after the first set of photos, because I had just gotten a vinyl cutter and could finally add some more lettering: The Armor Bin: This is a little smaller than the usual 50 gallon one, a 45 gallon bin that had a good look as a base. Some turnarounds: The helmet case screen:1 point

Need Help Ask the Deployment Officers Advanced Tactics Awards Public Relations Staff List 2020 Follow FISD Hans Larsson (TI/IC-18181) joined the New England Garrison of the 501st Legion in April of 2016. A quiet man, Hans was always one to step up and help out fellow Troopers however he could. He opened his heart and home to those of us in the New England; allowing Troopers to spend the night after a long days troop, offering to carpool with Troopers to and from events, and perhaps most importantly, pitching in when the NEG crafted a special armor kit for a young man we learned of through Make-A-Wish. The Legion was a creative extension of Hans' desire to help those less fortunate: in his home state of New Hampshire, Hans was active with groups that sought to assist Veterans and the homeless, and volunteered with the New Hampshire Special Olympics. Hans gave back to others in a sweet, gentle way and truly represented the ideal that all Troopers should strive for. Our condolences go out to his family, friends. With Unquestioned Loyalty Andrew Franke TK11469 "Sly11" Detachment Leader 3D printed Weapons/accessories approval for Expert Infantry/Centurion As most of you are aware, resin weapon kits Doopy Doo's are very difficult to come by, there are still other quality makers of resin and aluminum kits available, both pre-built or as kits in E-11s and other items. US - Fieldmarshal (blasterfactory) - mostly metal parts Canada - Quest Designs - resin kit UK - TroopaCoola (JMC) - metal and resin (cast from original parts) On the other hand 3D prints seem to be the wave of the future. I for one say HUZZAH! There are some truly fantastic files out there to use (many are FREE) to either print your own or have a friend (or online service) do so. Building a 3D printed weapon or accessory can actually be a lot of fun, and something to do when you need to take a break from your armor build. BUT, please be aware that whatever type of item you are building must meet our standards when applying for higher levels of approval. In order to maintain screen accuracy, any 3D printed item submitted for Expert Infantry/Centurion approval cannot have visible print lines present. This will apply to all costumes, and has been added to the CRLs for each as a Level 2 (EI) requirement. Wh-wh-WHAT? Is this a new thing? Nope. We have been insisting on this since the onset of 3D printing, but now it's official. Eliminating those print lines is actually fairly simple, and will make for an awesome looking end product that you will be proud to troop with. New FISD Tri Fold Brochure We have just launched our newly revised Detachment Tri Fold brochure. It's been quite a long time since we actually had these available and since then many things have changed leading us to updating some of the text to include new costumes, and have more relevant information. Originally these were done in a limited run by the member who created them, but nowadays, we have moved this to a print your own service making them accessible to all countries around the globe. Files are available to all full 501st members on request, and are completed in a very high resolution to ensure quality in a finished product. Thanks all! You're fast with those references! Exactly what I needed. Definitely a learning curve for the painting. Using a toothpick seems to be helping with the edges. Also, got my new decals coming from Trooperbay as I couldn't cleanly take the other ones off! Sent from my Pixel 4a using Tapatalk1 point

Looks like Darkside Dave wins the race. I just got a message asking for a deposit for this week. I'm so excited. I'm even more excited to share the journey with you all. I forgot about this feeling of happiness when you're building a new costume. Thinking about all the kids you can help and all the fun times you can have in it.1 point

Welcome to the Club Daniel and Yes!, very difficult to leave the bakery and Ice cream but is it possible ? Yes!, little by little you can reduce the portion till your body and mind get used to. Believe me ,Now I love my No sugar Black coffee every morning (I used to add 3 sugar teaspoon !! So go step by step and you'll see. Best luck and looking forward for your advances !1 point

I used a vinylester marine resin when coating mine. It still adds strength, but has some flex. Ensure you have tried on/mocked up the sizing on the suit and cut anything down that you need to first! The back of the ab, cod, butt panel, and underarm connectors required fitting for me. Wear a ventilator.1 point

I've got another shot of it! It's a little fuzzy, but you can see both rail greeblies and the back one is in a little better focus. It doesn't look to be TOO thick.1 point

OK- so I had a little time this morning so I did some digging around and it seems like Jonathan is onto something. When I designed mine, the only image we knew of was the main one of the side view, and it looked to be fairly flat. But, his pic got me wondering if there were any more. So, having no life I managed to find another which shows the thickness. It's faint, but if you look close it shows the front greeb on the folding stock as well. Now for the bad news... In looking closer, I discovered yet another greeb. Yikes. It looks like a mini donut that sits on top of the magazine and has a wire/tube connected to the scope. I am sure this was a one-off.. (please, Lord, tell me it's a one-off), and I am going to forget I ever saw that extra item.1 point
-
Hi Jonathan! First, EXCELLENT catch on this, sir. This will come as no surprise to those who know me, but you have officially ruined my Sunday! (LOL, just kidding). Just when I thought I had it nailed, you come up with a pic showing that this particular greeb is definitely thicker than I thought. It's the first photo of a side view I've seen, and the shadow underneath it proves this IMO. However, I don't think it was the same one used on Leia's DDC for a few reasons.. Although the thickness looks closer, the close-up in the first pic shows what seems to me a flat, square top, whereas the button has a smaller top with the sides angles inward. I could be wrong of course, as the blue arrow in the last pic shows what could be those sides, just unpainted. But, there is still the rest of it to explain. The yellow arrows (3rd image) show some sort of clips(?) and although the top is level with the folding stock it is a different color (green arrows), leading me to believe it was one whole piece. Unless we get one of the original prop makers involved (highly unlikely) I don't think we will ever know exactly what strange part was used, so I am thinking I may need to re-design my original.1 point

My last job had a fantastic gym attached to it. Almost always empty. It's where I started working out after my Crohn's diagnosis. To keep myself on track and motivated, I used an app called FitNotes. It's free and has auto backup to your gmail account. You can enter custom exercises and track things, even light stuff like PT movements or walks. I continued to use it when I quit that job and joined a public gym, then stopped when I got into crossfit classes. No need to log crossfit since the workout is on the board everyday. Anyways, I re-downloaded it, logged in, and opened it. All my workouts and saved custom exercises were in there with my last logged workout being in 2018. I've since logged 3 more. http://www.fitnotesapp.com/ No affiliation, just a user for the past many years over about 4 phones. I was beyond pleased that the app still existed and worked.1 point

Painting is now completed on the helmet. Please let me know if anyone spots any issues. I cleaned up the gums as suggested earlier. One quick question on the belt snap covers. Are they squared like the one in the image or do I trim back to the edge where it curves? The movie used ones seem to be embedded in the belt.1 point
