  6. OK, so in theory my armour is on its way. I say in theory because at time of writing it’s been sat in a postal hub for two weeks because of what the shipping company claims is a technical hitch which I suspect may or may not involve the current global situation. So in the meantime I’m working on my soft parts (at least as much as I can until I work out if this kit is for the Hero or Stunt CRL). So here we go. Boots: Just a cheap pair of ankle boots I picked up and decided to paint. So far they’ve had about six coats of white Angelus each although I should probably go for a few more since under a raking light the white is a bit patchy. The elastic has received four coats of white fabric paint and the finish is a lot cleaner. The paint also still needs sealing once I work out what level of gloss these need to have. I also need to go in and clean up the outsole a little since despite my best efforts with the frog tape there was a little bit of bleed. So I need to find some of the really small cotton buds that people normally use for cleaning computer drive heads and hit it with acetone. Since doing it with a regular sized cotton bud resulted in stripping off the paint from the surface of the boot too and put me back at square one. Undersuit: a black dancer’s unitard I have left over from an old project. May replace it with the cotton spandex equivalent or running kit for extra breathability, as well as the fact I’m not 100% sure the slight shine it has is acceptable even if the CRL just says “black, non-textured material”. So next steps for the armour side of things: need to source the black chemical gloves, as well as make runs to get hold of my belt, neck seal and holster. Props wise, I’m currently chugging my way through printing out the E11 kit. I’m also on the lookout for a good DLT kit, given that on examination the free kit in the 3D repository over here was found to be slightly inaccurate in a couple of places and beyond my ability to fix.

  10. Not to start a discussion but, Hamil was closer to 5’7 and that according to himself. At 5’9 there wouldn’t be any need for that extra trimming they did on both the chest and back piece.

  12. Yeah, exactly. I even shimmed behind the sniper like I did on my kit, but it still tucked in. I've got adjusted straps on the bench and other parts zapped with E6000 on the workbench. Thanks for following along, Glen! Sent from my Pixel 5 using Tapatalk

  13. Great how to Joseph, should help many out. For those down under looking for something similar to Sugru head to Bunnings Loctite 3 x 5g Kintsuglue - White $8.24 OR Selleys 50g Knead It Multipurpose Epoxy Putty $9.15 (note dries grey so will need paint added)

  15. Hello and welcome, normally if you add larger cover strips you would place these on the backs of armor pieces as they are not seen very much, the public really only looks at our fronts. Really depends on how much extra you will need, photos would help A great way to get feedback is to post a build thread, for OTTK's head here https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/80-anh-build-threads/ Also for adding images most of us use a free online image host Imgur, a great how to here

  17. Welcome brotha. Fellow shadow here as well. I found that Ukswrath build thread on the spec ops forums was very helpful in my build process. Good luck on the build.

  18. It is with a heavy heart that I mourn the passing of Terrell Reber, who was my XO for many of the early years of FISD and later became DL in his own right. In that time, he contributed his insight and wisdom in many areas most particular in the areas of armor, molds, and armor making. He was the first person to find a legitimate, conflict free path to selling TE derived armor when he founded ATA. It may be hard to believe, but there was a time those years back when a decent set of FX armor was $1200 and TE type armor was hard to acquire from a reputable person. ATA changed much of that, and ATA set the bar for providing quality armor at an affordable price. Hence ATA: affordable trooper armor. He was very picky about quality and hunted for plastic suppliers who would provide virgin material with the right shade of white. He could have charged more and had a long wait list, however felt that would be against his principles. These days there are many options for people to procure quality TE type armor at an affordable price, and we have a solid list of reputable makers. It can be hard to believe that it wasn’t always this way, or that even having a public list of vetted armor makers was considered taboo. With a glance at a picture, he could tell you the make of the armor or helmet and could spot all the “tells” that was uncanny. He gave selflessly his experience and advice to FISD members time and again. However, most of all I will remember him as someone who was always there to take a phone call when needed. Who gave selflessly to this hobby that he loved. 43 is just too young. Buckets off, as I drain it of my tears.
