Could we be a step closer to knowing what these parts actually were used for? Thanks to Daniel O'Keeffe this looks to be the closest we have come in over 40 years. Here is the full story from the man himself Daniel O'Keeffe but first I'd like to take this opportunity to welcome Daniel to the FISD forums and thank him for allowing me to share the below information, taking us another step closer to solving the mysteries of this found part mystery. Following information and images property of Daniel O'Keeffe I have recently come into possession of a pair of genuine 1970's aerators. I'm posting this up here as I think it could be of interest to a lot of people and wish to gauge that interest for reasons I'll explain a little further down. Just to give a little background on this, back in 1977 as a young boy a friend of mine saw an afternoon matinee screening of ANH at the cinema and at the time recognised what the parts were on the helmet. After watching said matinee he then got his father to take him to a plumber's merchant where he was bought a set of these aerators and they just sat there in a tub for years. Sadly he passed away and whilst helping to clear out some rubbish from his house I clocked these parts in a pile earmarked for the bin. Now what is interesting is that it opened up a couple of previously unknown things about the tips, namely that there was a serated push fit tube on the back of these which fitted into a hose. What is now obvious is that these were cut off from the original backs for the threads to fit through and attach to the helmets. Another thing that stands out is the internal fitting, in the past I have seen the pictures Gino Sabatino shared of the hero helmet aerator and the insert appears to be a one piece. It isn't, the middle piece is actually a two piece moulding that fits together. Something else that doesn't seem present on the screen used tips is a black O ring seal. As you can see from the pictures the colour itself is actually off white, with a definite yellow tinge to the plastic as opposed to an all white moulding. When I first saw this part I actually thought it was a resin cast as the colour was very reminiscent of a polyurethane casting resin I use and to be honest I almost dismissed it! I think it's fairly obvious that these were moulded in different shades of plastic, and that the internal components were also moulded in different colours as Gino himself in the past has stated he had seen a mix of aqua and white. Another difference to the screen used tips and these is the filtration mesh, this is a different pattern. From what I can ascertain there is a moulded groove on the inside lip and you can see how the mesh was inserted from the inside before being fixed in with an adhesive. Another interesting thing about these was that he actually had what appears to be the connecting hose that they fit into. When I found the first one it was sitting in the wider end of the tube but I actually think it's supposed to fit in the narrower end and the wider end fitted onto a tap or a tap adapter. This would make sense of what my friend had told me a while back, that these aerators were tap mixers for hot and cold taps back in the 70's. The tube itself bears a very consistent appearance to how they appear today, they are called rubber swirl mixers and are still in manufacture although not to this exact design. Also the rubber on this is obviously aged and shows signs of perishing particularly at the base where the aerators would most likely connect. I think for this reason the aerator was stuck in the larger end to prevent the narrower part from further deterioration. So onto the great unanswered question... what I HOVI MIX pa2? Well, on that one I really have no answer I'm afraid. Like most people curious about these I've spent far more time than is healthy trying to track this info down. I've even tried thinking outside the box I case VI is actually roman numerals rather than text! I have asked around several old time plumbers and will continue to do so but for the time being all professional opinion seems to agree that this is actually the part code or name as opposed to a manufacturers name. One thing that does seem a lot simpler to clear up however is what pa2 means, this is simply the formulation of the aerators' operation. P= pressure, A = area and the 2 is the equal mix of water and air into the nozzle. So far all attempts to identify a manufacturer have proven fruitless. One thing that does seem conclusive is that this was a UK manufacturer rather than an imported product. My initial hope was that if somebody I talked to could have identified the part there may have been an outside chance of then finding the company that sold these and then the manufacturer and pursuing the chance the dies could have still been in existence with a view to recommencing manufacture. Sadly this seems to be impossible to bring to fruition. So, what I have done is what I hope will be the next best thing. I am currently part way through the process of having these parts reverse engineered. At the moment I'm still in the early stages but my plan is to have these parts remanufactured exactly as they would have been back in the 70's. This means having them produced as injection moulded pieces and making them available to the community. As of yet I'm afraid I can give no further details for the simple reason I don't have any myself at present, but as soon as I know I will be making it known! Below is the YouTube video that RS Propmaster posted on Daniels beautiful pieces.2 points

Hi, I already started on my build a few months ago, but someone reached out and suggested I make a WIP thread here. Makes sense... As White Armour has been my go-to for trying to work out how to put this all together. My WIP is slightly different as I'm also documenting in detail a video log on my channel. (CLICK HERE TO CHECK OUT GEEKY GOODNESS) Wondering why the following posts are the same date?! It's just to catch everyone up what I've done so far So we start with what and were I purchased everything so far. I've been soooo LUCKY that someone abandoned his attempt to make his armour, and sold all his 'soft' items for half the price he bought it for. Being in the UK as me, this was AMAZABALLS, as I didn't have to also pay for the HUGE import taxes and delivery charges from the US, Germany, Canada and Oz. First I downloaded The5thHorseman 3D file I found on this site. But I also added my bespoke light & sound effects using my girlfriends voice. Yep it's not cannon (pun intended), but I can turn it off at an official event. Here's the full video and some pics... (CLICK HERE TO SEE THE VIDEO) And here's the 'beauty' video of the final result. Your overall build came out super nice, Luca! There are a few areas that are of concern, but a lot of it will depend on your GML. The CRL for Basic 501st approval states that "...all costumes are proportional to the wearer in scale, fit and size" The main thing that jumped out at me was the alignment of the ab plate. As seen in the photo, everything is tilted to the left and that side could definitely come up a bit. As you mentioned, the butt plate and even the kidney plate if possible) should come in some to give you a more "tailored" look... BUT, I noticed that you have them pulled pretty tight already, and the return edges are starting to buckle (blue arrows). The CRL states that "...all costumes are proportional to the wearer in scale, fit and size" We can help you with these issues, so not to worry!2 points

Staying in character while in armor has always interested me. After watching videos of the Stormtroopers at Disney's Galaxy's Edge, I decided to start compiling an array of sayings and responses for different scenarios and I would like to share them with you! SPECIFIC RESPONSES: Citizen: Can I get a picture with you!? Stormtrooper: Affirmative. Proceed with holoscan. Citizen: Thank you! Stormtrooper: All for the glory of the Empire/First Order! Citizen: Your armor is awesome! Stormtrooper: It's made to Imperial specifications. Citizen: How long did it take you to make that? Stormtrooper: About ____ standard months. Citizen: (Waves hand) You don't need to see my identification, or These aren't the droids you're looking for. Stormtrooper: This must not be the Jedi we're looking for. PUBLIC INTERACTION If you see members of the public staring at you in awe or excitement: The Empire/First Order recognizes your loyalty! Your allegiance is noted. The Rebels/Resistance will fall under the might of the Empire/First Order! Careful Citizens! Rebel activity has been reported in this sector! If you see a child dressed as Darth Vader, or Kylo Ren. (Salute them) Lord Vader/Ren! If you see someone with a lightsaber: That's a lightsaber! We'll assume you're a collector. ONLY a collector. CONVERSATIONS WITH OTHER TROOPERS: Stormtrooper#1: I could sure go for a cup of caf right now! Stormtrooper#2: Affirmative! Stormtrooper#1: I heard that Lord Vader/Ren might be making an appearance today! Stormtrooper#2 That seems unlikely. Stormtrooper#1: Have you heard about the new T-16's? Stormtrooper#2: Yeah, some of the other guys were telling me about it! They said it was quite a thing to see! ANNOUNCEMENTS: Stormtrooper: Citizens! We have been ordered to re-position, and are vacating these premises! Stormtrooper: Rebel activity has been reported in this area! If you see anything, then report it immediately! Remember to use discretion when interacting with the public. If they seem annoyed, or disinterested, then then don't continue to harass them. And If a child seems frightened of you, then break character and try to sound cheerful. Maybe even lift up your bucket, so they can see it's a real person under there! I'll update this with more phrases and responses as I come up with them. Feel free to post any of your own ideas!1 point

Hi all I am new to the site and I was already introduced to an amazing person to build out my Jawa costume to 501st specs. I am also looking for help finding someone to help with a Bo Katan and a Lucas approved storm trooper. I am a 5ā5 3/4 female. Thanks all!1 point

Hello everbody, My name is Marco i am a part of this Community since 2007, my first ever 501st Costume was a Stormtropper :-) Unfortunately, I have put on too much weight in the past and at some point had to sell my armor and switched to a Tie-Pilot costume. But now I have to lose weight for health reasons and I want to get a Stormtrooper armor again in the near future. I have to have a weight of at least 95 kg. I wonder if it makes sense to put on armor given the weight?1 point

Looks like they are from FB, that's were the links are taking me when I click on them. For some reason there is a sharing issue with Facebook images, can show for others than the poster for a short period of time then they become defunct1 point

Nice work, more for higher level approval but you could remove a small amount of paint from the teeth, they do look to be touching the gums, from the CRL: Frown is painted gray and does not leave the teeth area. Not sure what padding you have in the helmet but isn't sitting in the center, perhaps a little foam either side of the your head will help keep it central Looking forward to seeing you approved soon, good luck1 point

I think lifting the popper tab(s) higher up is a good idea. It's a relatively easy change, and can be adjusted again in the future in needed. Just take your time, be careful not to damage your chest plate, and remember to not get glue on the metal parts1 point

Your comments at the beginning of this thread are very kind Luca. Thank you. I don't have the same level of experience as Joseph, Glen or Tino, but I can see how close you are to a really high level build, and you should be extremely proud of yourself. The purpose of the v tabs is usually more to stop the butt plate from popping out and overlapping the kidney, but it 'can' also pull the sides in to help with the issue Joseph identified. To be honest, I think I'd fit v tabs to every armour I built from now on, as it just helps to keep everything in the correct place, so my advice would be to add them and see what effect they have. The alignment of your ab could be that the strapping from chest to ab needs tweaking a little. You could try to shorten the chest to ab strap a little on your left hand side to bring the left hand side of you ab plate up. It looks like the popper tabs in your chest plate are pretty close to the bottom return edge (can you remove the ab to chest straps so we can see where the popper tabs are?), and this could make the strapping difficult to tweak. You may benefit from adding popper tabs a bit higher up meaning you can tweak the fit using longer or shorter straps.1 point

Hi Luca. A thing that sticks out to me on the above photo is the upper end of your forearms. Maybe you can still trim those sharp edges around the elbow to look softer. I can't paint a coloured line into your photo but what I mean is to cut away a triangle shape of the outer half, lining up the inner and outer half to match in one straight line. In case I wrote it too complicated, you know how to contact me.1 point

Hi Marco and welcome back here. Keeping fingers crossed for you to reach your weight goal. Glen already pointed towards AM and RT armor. Here are some links: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/50707-tk-6427-requesting-esb-centurion-status-am/ https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/50357-tk-20112-requesting-anh-stunt-centurion-status-rt-mod-491/1 point

Welcome back Marco. As Glen says, it's never too late to get back into a costume you love, and I'm positive we have quite a few troopers around the world that are around the 95+ kg weight. I Look forward to hearing of your journey back into TK armour.1 point

Hello and welcome back, it's never a bad time to put on a stormtrooper costume, if it's something you love. There are a few choices for the larger trooper, AM and RT are generally the go two. Check out a few of the build threads to give you an idea of sizing, many include the armor name in the title of build threads. Looking forward to seeing a build threas from you soon, and then on to welcoming you back to the TK ranks1 point

Okay, so it did look chipped, but after looking at a few screen references, I decided that I didn't want that, so I scrapped off even more paint and then repainted the outside of the buttons: They might need a bit of clean up to make them have a rounder shape, but it's better than before with all the paint only on the buttons. I've also gone ahead and requested pre approval, so feel free to head over there as well:1 point

Correct amount of ridges is not mentioned in the CRL, just a guide from the screen used suits. There can be a large gap between the chest and backplate under the shoulder straps, that shouldn't be an issue. I do find though that elastic on the backplate to kidney gives you a little more movement, nylon is quite restricting but see how you go. Using elastic and adjusters between the chest an ab can help when trying to adjust gaps/heights1 point

one deployment later, here is a bit of a update on everything! So yes Jimi sent a new bucket and its rad! Everything has has been primed. I have also did a good majority of the sanding that I need to do, (Not really we all know the sanding never stops) and started the fitting processes As you can see my slim build leaves alot of overlap on the belts and the ab barrel I have also picked up ukwraths harness I've marked up the ab barrel to indicate where the breast and back plates will sit, with the connector as well. to determine where I need to trim. I've also cut down the back a wee bit. Last but not least I have done a bit of practice sanding/ painting on a few smaller things. these will def be re-sanded and painted. i also filled the back piece and the drop boxes with sign material Still lot to do but at least its some progress. Oh I almost forgot I did some practice carving on the first bucket so I go that going for me. lol1 point

The back and chest plate are being one of the more tricky things to fit and strap. Trickier than I thought. I did the back to kidney straps first as a way to judge where the chest will eventually rest, since that just overlaps the ab piece. I did these straps much the same way I did the kidney/butt plate. It was much easier this time to just have the whole apparatus assembled when I glued rather than measuring, and then guessing where to make holes in the straps. Below is the assembly of the shoulder straps to the chest pieces. For the elastic straps that connect the chest to back, I used my white elastic and burned holes in the middle of them for the shoulder connections. I added a bit of glue between the snaps to give it a bit more sturdiness. Then I folded over the end for the right side and made a hole for the snap there. It's not mentioned in the CRL, and I know you had mentioned it previously, but I'm trying for a 3-4 smaller tab attachment on the chest plate. I tried fitting again, and my long torso seemed to really test the spacing between chest and ab. I think I'm having issues measuring the fitting of the upper torso armor generally, and I need to see how it looks together and adjust from there. As I'm gluing straps and snaps, I'm also concerned about the chest/back shoulder plastic not being very close together under the shoulder bridge.1 point

If your commission is an ESB version you are lucky, with a different helmet and a few other pieces you could also seek approval as ANH version, here is a comparison check list for the differences between the Original Trilogy versions https://drive.google.com/file/d/10tEVteIreh6AHMogW010cuH_Bf8TBfU6/view1 point

Some of my favorite "out of character" jokes and one-liners when taking photos include: "Smile and say Star Trek!" "Make sure you get my dark side..." "Oops, I think I might have blinked in that one!" People don't expect us to be funny, but read the room - sometimes it's just what people need!1 point
