  2. I've been lurking on the forum for a few weeks as I do research for my Rogue One TK build. I started ordering things and have more questions, so now I'm finally registering . I plan to apply to the Ohio Garrison and have joined their academy group on Facebook. The Empire Strikes back might be my favorite Star Wars movie, but as an engineer I appreciate how the Rogue One and other recent iterations on the armor are more detailed and functional, so that's why I went with it. I'll meander over to the ROTK subforum at some point and start a build thread there. Thanks in advance for the support! This seems like a great community.

  3. Yeah, I should have took a picture before I trimmed. The WTF ab plate did not have much extra to create the sides of the plate, and had large dimples going into the sides of it, so I cut it all off. From other WTF threads, this seems to be the norm. I'm definitely going to try put some ABS behind and filling the seams.

  4. Justin, Thanks for resurrecting the thread. I was just having this conversation with someone yesterday and was about to reengage, but you beat me to it. So, maybe a little my fault for getting this thread off course earlier with the action figures, but I believe LFL has had no problem marketing the Remnant character. As of this post, we now have a black series figure, two vintage collection versions and a sideshow collectibles sixth scale figure. Yes, Hasbro and Sideshow are independent companies, but it shows that the blessing was given by LFL for the naming of this character. The rest of my reasoning is pulled from anthology films and Disney+ features because there's screen references and that's what we need. Post-Endor and Post-Civil War Remnants have been covered extensively in both Canon and Legend writings. Please refer to these references for additional information: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Imperial_remnants I thought I pointed this out earlier, but neglected to actually do so. In Chapter 15 "The Believer," Mayfield and Cara Dune have a very specific conversation in which Mayfield states "these Remnant bases are set up by ex ISB." Cara then goes on to state "you sure do know a lot about Imperial Remnants." This exchange, along with the figures and visual references from this episode and the ones in Season 1 solidify the idea of Imperial Remnants as their own established character/ faction in the Star Wars universe and New Republic era. Next, after seeing Moff Gideon's forces in season 1 and then the seizure of the Imperial Gozanti Freighter in Chapter 11 "The Heiress," as well as the revelation of Grand Admiral Thrawn's existence at the end of Chapter 13 "The Jedi," we've also got an abundance of 'healthy' (shiny white) Imperial forces who appear to be disconnected from the Remnant factions... AND ALL WEARING ROTK ARMOR! We don't know anything about Thrawn's forces other than what we assume were annihilated in Rebels, but now we can expect to see these guys make an appearance in season 3. Thrawn sounds like he's alive and well. These instances as well as every other occurance of ROTK armor in Anthology projects is why I wholeheartedly believe the name should be changed from ROTK to New Generation Stormtrooper. This also opens the door for new weapons and accessories used on screen including the SE-14R. So, with that said, The Remnant Stormtrooper appears to have ROTK armor, heavily weathered/ damaged an OT Helmet, and a plethora of different weapons. I'll look for the reference photos I haven't posted.

  7. Looks like you may have overdone the trimming of your larger ab plate, should be ok for basic but will be picked for higher levels. Two work arounds is either get a new one from the supplier, or glue a piece of ABS behind and fill the join seam with ABS paste. The velcro on the shims won't stay completely flat and you will end up with a gap because of the thickness of the velcro.

  10. The coverstrips should be fine squared off at the bottom of the shins. But you could always trim a slight angle to have it mesh the two halves together better. Take a look at some centurion requests and see how their shins were assembled. This will also let you see how WTF armor can be assembled.

  14. My goodness has it been over 3 years? Does anyone look at ROTJ anymore? As before, I have to get this approved. Worse, I have to get it finished by next Friday as I’ve volunteered/been cast in a fan film for Make a Wish. I guess they must need as many TKs as they can muster, so I’ve been enlisted. Here’s where I am now. These pics were shot today: Since I’m going with an endor-themed ROTJ TK, I need to weather the boots some more. They are WAY too white. Also, the bottoms are black and I’ve always had to change that. So today, I changed them to white. What should I use to weather the boots to match the duller/yellower color of the armor and use? Also, anything glaring about the full suitup? I have other shots to look at, sides/back, if need be. Thanks for any help. If I can get this approved, it’ll be quite the achievement for me. This was my first costume in 2009. It’s been 12 years and I have 3 other approved costumes, but not this TK. Time to step on it.

  16. Since I already had my paint stuff out from the helmet, I went ahead and finished the buttons. Now at last I've added the cover strips and velcro to the shins. I noticed when opening one of the clamshells, the velcro worked a little to well and got pulled off the back of the coverstrip. I'll either have to be careful opening them, or find a workaround in the future. Maybe its as simple are reapplying the velcro after roughing up the back side of the cover strip first. (Images flipped from mirror) And here's the test fit of the shins on my legs! A snug fit, but allays my initial fears. I noticed walking around that any hyperextension of my knee collides with the sniper plate a lot unless I hold up the whole shin slightly. Regarding the bottom of the cover strips, is there any criteria for if they can be squared off overhanging versus trimmed to the contour of the legs? It seems like the original armor had them squared off overhanging.

  18. I don't understand why you didn't just order the blaster from RS . Theirs are super accurate , and unlike others, have a hollow alloy tube down the middle, making them super strong and infinitely customisable if you go that route .

  21. Painting these clips and TD tube. This is just a flat black primer coat then will go over with a black gloss. Reinforcements for the back of the belt plate.

  22. Thanks so much for the clarification. I was still a little lost on the meaning of the "fall of the tube stripes" considering the decals that came with Dave's AM kit are symmetrical. There's been at least a couple of times that the wording of the CRLs has tripped me up, and I don't think I'm the only one. I also recall "Frown is painted gray and does not leave the teeth area. A total of 8 cut outs in the teeth area of the frown are present." confused me, as I thought "does not leave the teeth area" referred to the 8 holes being cut out and not that the paint shouldn't extend beyond the teeth. Anyway, I may attempt to use masking tape to lift and readjust my tube stripes so I don't have to move them one at a time, or order more. For now I've moved on from the helmet to armor assembly and strapping. I glued up my last 2 cover strips last night. Things are hopefully about to start coming together.

  23. Is it worth linking this thread via FB? I hate to admit it, but, I feel most people use socials more regularly than the forum. A little note with a link on the FB group might stir up some more entries. :-)

  24. Welcome to the FISD! It's always easier to trim than add shims. When you have to shim the seam needs to be filled with ABS paste(a mix of small pcs of armor scraps mixed with acetone) then sanded and polishing. Lots of work. But doable. I have a set of RT Mod and it definitely will fit you. AM is also another option to look at. Both are great set's. Good Luck Future Trooper!

  25. Use a piece of sandpaper smooth down the eye openings. And are you doing bubble lenses or regular? You could also get a small thing of model grey paint and paint the frown. And some blue for the tube stripes. Good to hear your back on it.

  26. This girl is a goal-getter and finally the most coveted badge is now under my name. I am deeply honored to join the elite ranks and even more the 500th Centurion! But this would not be possible without the support, advices and suggestions of you guys… FISD, Detachment staff and DOs. (Special thanks to Sly11, TKSpartan, TheSwede, justjoseph63, ShaSha) Thank You Very Much Everyone! (in Filipino: Maraming Salamat!) Slow clap to all the men and women before me… the Strong Centurion 500. We all did it! Congratulations FISD! Cheers! Well, it seems...I’m not too short to troop after all. - TK18112

  27. Congrats Matt! I picked up RS' PVC version. Don't make my mistake in just following RS tuts alone, watch Ritchie, watch Cableguy, there is a wealth of information and helpful troopers here. Yes the strap pack comes with all your rivets, all metal parts, buttons, snaps. Yep - all there. Rob's belt cutting nearly screwed my build as it didn't follow the CRL with the precise 45 degree cuts.
