  1. Depends on how long your straps are, they need to cover both front and back of the armor, screen used had 1 large tab and 4 to 5 smaller tabs on the chest but as I say it depends on your kits strap length. What I find works is to tape the front of the straps to the chest and then put on the chest and back then tape together, you can then mark with a pencil how the sides sit so they cover both chest and back, sometimes you need to twist how the straps are sitting on the chest to align them to sit over the back plate, then mark with a pencil remove and glue.

  2. If there’s ever a question ask away. Someone is usually quick to jump on it. That’s what makes FISD the best detachment ever (says me) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  3. Hi Simon, Looking REALLY nice!! Not far to go now. :-) Regarding the belt, personally I found that a little Velcro added help to position the belt; For the shins, I’d probably look to bring them down an inch of so to sit a little further over the boots. Either Velcro or poppers can be used internally to attach the boots tabs to the shins (see my thread for one method of this). Example of shin position; Example of poppers and Velcro methods on boot straps; *Not screen used - these are my personal boots. Other than that, I’d perhaps suggest dropping your biceps and forearms by around an inch to reduce the gap from the forearm to the hand guards on your gloves. Keep up the great work. :-)

  4. Thanks, I appreciate the feedback. I also really appreciate all the help from everyone. I'm trying to glean as much as I can from ukswrath's build thread, other build threads and Centurion submissions so I don't have to ask too many questions. When I do ask a question, people are very quick to jump in and help. I really makes a person feel welcome.

  5. Elastic in the shins to pull them down on the boots, should fix that

  7. Ok there we go. My fault didn’t see it was in the TFA section. CRL states it should be flush against the armor so I’m assuming it’s up to the builder. I’ve never built one so maybe we can figure out who has and go from there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  8. Oh crap, I was way off. FOTK, not ANH DOE! Here's your answer. Movie armor photo. Clearly separate but flush

  9. Well the Ab boxes are flush but separate from the Ab as clearly seen in the following movie armor photos.

  11. It's been raining, so it's build time. So far I have reduced a lot of return edges, totally forgot to reduce the edges under the shoulder bridges, found that out as I did a test fit and noticed quite a lot of digging in, I'm hoping to deal with annoying bites and edges before I get to eventually troop, although I suspect even then there will be ongoing tweaks. After trying on the main torso and lining up the biceps, after another bit of a boil to reshape them, hopefully to stop them popping out from under the shoulder bells, I've been trying to figure out strapping placement on my newly installed snaps (incidentally, don't expect e6000 to remain fluid in a tube that was last opened about 3 years ago, was nearly a Hulk Smash moment). I am guessing strap from the top down? With that in mind, is there a trick to strapping the shoulder bells to the shoulder bridge elastic strap?, Is it best to try to get the edge of the shoulder bell to touch the white strap?, or should there be a small gap? Oh, and while I'm here, is there a trick to placement to avoid the shoulder bells showing too much gap between them and chest plate?, I've noticed that's a common issue in submission photos. Typically and being a genious, I forgot to charge my camera battery, so no photos (imgur still the best option?) Busy waiting for the glue on the shoulder bell elastic to dry, gave it a little bit of tension......and way too much glue......sigh, it's amazing what you forget, a rookie mistake. Anyway, if there's anybody out there reading this babble, all comments welcome

  12. The Florida Garrison just lost an exceptional trooper. Glad to hear your move is complete; hopefully I’ll still meet you sooner or later. Best wishes, enjoy your new home!

  13. Because this kit is pre trimmed, it is relatively easy on the assembly. Since I have never built anything like this, I decided to start with something I felt was pretty easy but still somewhat challenging for me. So forearms it is. I didnt detail the painting,of the resin parts but, I used the Anovos recomended rattle can to paint the parts I needed and then glued them on after the assembly. They turned out pretty good and I learned a little regarding glueing in the process. One recommendation....when applying the Velcro to the forearms....I am not using 3 pieces as recommended by the Anovos instructions. I am using 2 toward the back of the forearm (near the elbow) and leaving the front open to be able to slide my hand in.

  14. Looks like there's a pretty big difference in color of your belt to the rest of the armor. There are some definite differences like the TKC, one considerably is the thigh ammo strip which is not curved on the lower end it's straight and also positioned above the lower thigh ridge not attached on the ridge. Your shoulder bells appear to be open quite a lot on the front you may want to reduce this gap by attaching the straps further forward on the shoulder straps. No large tabs on the shoulder bridges also but that's a higher level requirement. I think you will find it will really come down to what the LMO team believe is game related and what can be achieved in real life armor. Looking forward to the progress.

  15. I have Ukswrath's audio system, hearing assist, and fan kit and I recommend them all, especially for having a clean, self-contained helmet. I'm still working on the hearing assist, when I use it with the fans on it tends to buzz just loudly enough to drown out what's going on outside the helmet, I'm going to install some padding to dampen/isolate the fan vibrations though. Should fix it right up. I love the audio kit too. For crowd heavy troops I'll run a splitter and an Aker under my chest plate for more volume but for a majority of the troops the audio kit is more than sufficient. Here's how I stuffed everything in my AP helmet. It gets a bit tight going on or coming off, but once it's on, I have plenty of room. I glued each component on some scrap ABS as a mounting bracket/surface and used the ear screws as main mounting points. I backed the brackets that go up into the helmet with industrial Velcro to support the weight and to keep them from flopping down. I did find that it made a noticeable difference to aim the mic directly at your mouth for the most volume possible, so I used Velcro to secure it like so:

  16. I think I jumped the gun there, ear screws will sort it but during the fitting of said ears it might be good to have a screw at the bottom

  18. I ... I think I might be done. I should redo the bicep straps, and I need to re-glue a couple of magnets, and there's a couple of things I want to fiddle with in the helmet ... But ... I didn't take all the photos wanted for a Pre-Approval thread, but here are the "basic" five:

  20. Great question, the FISD has never been in the habit of making someone pull out a ruler to check measurement. Specific numbers are generally to be used as a guideline. The term "little" gap used by Glen though broad would also allow for minor imperfections. Without it's absolutely black and white, no pun intended That said we've all heard the CRLs may be changing, to what extent has yet to be determined. Threads like this are where you can voice your facts, opinions and provide screen shots for reference.

  21. Hey Lou, Thanks! Just noticed that we're practially neighbors! Are you a GA Garrison member? It's been a slow start to the new year with a flu bug, but I'm managing. My white plastic is staring at me, begging me to get back to assembling it. Once I kick this bug, I'll be full steam ahead on the Hero build. Woo! Here's a taste of the other build that I finished late in 2017. Can you find me? (answer below) Hee hee... I'm the jawa on the left. Being a jawa is fun and very comfy. But it's nothing like being a TK!!! And this is for my own reference, but other Short Builders might find it helpful, too (I refer back to my own threads, is that so wrong?). This is my trim guide for sizing down a TK.
