  1. Thanks so much guys! I really appreciate the help. It isn't easy to notice the flaws in something when you can't psychically look at it/touch it. I'm glad I looked at these forums before rushing into a purchase and regretting it. I will most likely look into some kits sold by independents who don't recast and actually put love and care into their work.

  7. Thanks! I just ran out and bought some 1" elastic. It has been -30°C to -40°C here for a few days - so leaving the house for supplies has become a nuisance - but... you know... for the Empire. I should be building snowtrooper armour. I guess I shouldn't complain, it has warmed up to -25 today.

  8. Hi all, Finally got some natural light photos. As a rubber blaster for £85, I really can’t complain. :-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  9. Good job, Andrew. Eyes look great. Can’t quite see where the ears meet the tubes, but they already look better. :-) Best of luck with your clearance. You’ve made a great looking set of armour. :-) [emoji1303][emoji1303][emoji1303] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  10. You probably know this already, but it’s suggested to swap those screws for more accurate V-shaped ones:

  11. And you guys just inspired me to grab those drop boxes and pull out that elastic. It took some wrenching back and forth. I would pull left slowly until I heard a crack, then pull right until another crack. I figure each box took 2-3 minutes of careful tension on the elastic to make sure I didn't crack/tear the plastic. Glad that's done!!! I think that's all I will do tonight. Ah Progress. -Dana

  12. Work on final trimming tonight. Got my arms all done, will post a bunch of photos! Elbow area on forearms is tight and tappered a little, biceps are tight too. Guess I’m fat! Lol.

  13. Yep, just drill holes for the pop rivets a d you’ll be good to go. Only reason to disassemble drop boxes is if you want to re-use the original elastic, but it’s so cheap there’s no need to do so.

  20. Well Casper that is an interesting helmet there. It looks like it a mashup between an ANH helmet and an ESB Mark II. Not too much ROTJ there. I think the frown may be throwing you off. So besides the frown and the ear rank bars being painted to be ESB the rest of the helmet is made to be more ANH with the painted details. If you would like a ROTJ helmet then I seriously urge you to consider contacting CFO or Troopermaster. You can find their information here: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/11538-the-various-types-of-armor-and-where-to-find-them/

  21. Be careful closing and peeling tge velcro wgen using the armor closures. My chest got cracks from flexing too much to get tge velcro unattached.

  22. First - congrats on a beautiful build! We love our AP armor. Great adjustment with the shoulder straps as we did the same thing with our builds; 5 TK troops in and so far they are holding on strong using this technique.

  24. His armour is cast from two modified ESB mkii suits. And not originals as he borrowed two vendors suits and basically recast them. Hence the overlaps and differences between ANH and his.

  25. Just to add to the SDS/Shepperton/originalstormtrooper topic, aside from the law suit and the claims made by said maker, the armour (in my opinion) is just not good enough for the money being charged. I work near their Twickenham shop and have had a good look, close up, at their armour displays. The way that they themselves build/construct the armour shows a serious lack of attention to detail: for example, rivets on the sniper knee, overlap rather than butt joints, strapping in the wrong places, wrong shape on the thigh ammo pack, a very oddly proportioned thermal detonater etc etc. Now, I’m not saying that we all use the exact methods as the originals as this is not always practical for trooping, however, there just seems to be a total lack of effort into making these even close to resembling the originals. Especially when you’re charging up to 3 times more than other makers, makers that make much more accurate armour. It’s a sad story to me - I bought an early stunt TK helmet from AA back in 2005. He seemed nice enough when I met him - so much so that I later bought the TK bust, Tie helmet and tie bust. I just think he got carried away with the ‘back story’. If the armour were a third of the price and the story was ironed out, I wouldn’t say it’s that bad. Just needs quite a bit of effort to make it more accurate. However, I’d still buy elsewhere from a supplier hat has put some love and creativity into what they make. :-) Speech over, and again, this is just my personal view point. :-)

  26. Here the links that you will want to read through. These will elaborate as to why you do no want to buy from SDS/Shepperton/Originalstormtrooper https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/19286-the-original/ https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/23392-wwworiginalstormstroopercom-hit-or-miss/ http://www.originalprop.com/blog/2011/03/16/facebook-hosts-ongoing-public-debate-over-original-sculptor-credit-for-star-wars-stormtrooper-andrew-ainsworth-or-liz-moore-brian-muir/

  28. In an earlier post, I mentioned that I was 3D printing pads to reinforce the bracket mounting areas of the torso armor. I took a slightly different approach with this step by choosing to print the pieces, but ultimately it's inspired by others here and I wanted to print them for several reasons: 1. I wanted to have consistent parts that could easily be adjusted by changing the design and waiting 30 minutes for a whole new batch to print 2. I wanted to do other things while bracket pads were magically made for me (got robots) 3. I could do it so why not Here's a look at the two different versions I designed to go with the bracket set (for the long and short brackets): I printed them in white ABS on my Prusa i3. I have a few other printers but this one is my current favorite. Below is a shot of the printer laying out the first layer of some initial test prints (I ended up changing the hole diameters to make it easier to pass screws through). And here's an example of one of the final short pads (15 of these were needed overall and 3 long ones for the chest): And here's a picture of how they fit between the armor return edge and the metal brackets with the hardware roughly in place (not tightened down or glued at this point) With all of that work done, my plan is to heat some of the brackets so that they better follow some of the armor contours using the hot water method since this is ABS! That shouldn't take long, then I'll glue them all in with E6000 and use magnets/mini-clamps/bracket hardware as clamps in order to secure them all. Hope this makes sense and gives some other people ideas, -Dana

  29. Well everything worked out guys, thanks for all the advice. Got new shoulders, body and thighs sent to me. Everything fit for most part and wore it at work at my movie theater. All the kids loved it. Shoulders in pic are old shoulders. Working on replacing them with new ones soon. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  33. Thanks Andrew and thanks to the FISD Family. As you said I built this armor to be as accurate as possible, given the knowledge we had at the time from the Alpha armor group, it was quite a challenge when it came to specific details and yet here we are. A huge shout to the Alpha group for paving the path, and for the everyone else who followed my build at that time offering words of advice and encouragement. Troopers Helping Troopers. 34. Too many holes, too much comedy, especially the Hux on hold scene, 1.5 seconds of executioners, see more of them in the trailers. But at least I found the answer for dropping bombs in space Be nice if we could get the other 30 minutes added to the movie, might make a lot more sense then
