  1. Hi everyone, It’s been many years in the making, but I finally own a life size Imperial Stormtrooper!! I’ll keep my story brief, so, in short, my brother and I always gravitated towards the Stormtroopers when playing with our Star Wars toys as children. Around the early 2000s, I spent time looking online for Stormtrooper armour, however the choices were slim at that time. Then, when I stumbled across starwarshelmets.com, I spotted a sign behind a picture of two TKs for “SDS”. Reading further, Shepperton Design Studios was (at that stage) then regarded as holy grail of TK lids - so I bought one in 2005: ANH stunt number 330. My dream of a full suit of armour then remained dormant for many years - 12 to be exact. My SDS lid had become yellow after all those years - my decision to renovate (full respray) lead me to whitearmor.net and, as they say, the rest is history. So, I’m now a cleared Imperial Stormtrooper with the UKG/501st and hoping to achieve EIB and Centurion status with my RWA armour and modified DoopyDoos E-11. Thanks to the excellent community on here, the UKG and the RWA group, I’ve had a wonderful experience armour and blaster building and thoroughly look forward to making my trooping debut for worthy causes. Best wishes, Dan It’s a pleasure to join you all. :-) Best wishes, Dan :-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  4. Hi Tom. Very sorry to hear about the broken aluminum stripe. Very often in this forum you can find recommendations to cut that grove on the opposite side of the bend. In general this is a good idea for the following reasons: - it exactly defines the position on the rail where the bend happens - it causes a sharp bend, rather than a soft and curvy bend The only problem is, sometimes people cut too deep and reduce the stability of the material. Then the rail snaps when being bent. To leave enough stability, I would suggest to cut not more than about one third of the thickness. Anyway, it already happened and my words won't help you now, so what to do?! I guess we can forget about gluing and welding that aluminum, so I see these options. You can: - check if the bigger part is still long enough to make the bracket from it - check if you have anything else at home to scratch build the bracket from (bear in mind, this part is hard to see later) - check if you find 2x20mm (or something close to this) aluminum stripes in a local D.I.Y. store Or you can contact me to send you more aluminum (or alternatively go for the finished scope rail). Pick whatever works best for you. And keep up the good work. Things like that can always happen.

  5. Yes, you can leave a small gap to avoid scratches on the receiver tube. No worries. In the movie they had used hot-glue to add the Hengstler counters. Due to the weight of these counters (with metal brackets back then), many fell off and only left the hot-glue residue. This can be seen (for example) on Luke's blaster in ANH when he removes his TK helmet in that Death Star control room...

  7. hi all, whilst waiting for for the shoulder covers to dry I thought that I would make a start on the helmet. http:// by -matthewwormleaton- http:// by -matthewwormleaton- http:// by -matthewwormleaton- http:// by -matthewwormleaton- http:// by -matthewwormleaton- ive read more than one thread about the ears but in this case I think I lucked out when trimming them and them came up ok.

  8. Side by side of the new build from Walt (your left, unfinished) vs. Jim's original. Definitely more room in the new version, so I'm looking forward to getting it finished and using it in place of the one I submitted my pics with. Taller, wider, and deeper than the original, and should scale with the armor a bit better for me. Tubes are a bit more exaggerated to look more like the show.

  9. Thanks Tino, in a way it's good to know I'm not alone in this haha. What you mentioned about not cutting more than a third... this might be where my mistake was I think, I probably cut closer to halfway through. And unfortunately, there's not enough to make another piece big enough I've found some 2mm Aluminum on Amazon which I've ordered, it's 300x50mm so I'll have plenty to make all the mistakes I like! Lol Thanks again for the support! I'll be hollowing out the scope soon, scary stuff! Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk

  10. Congrats Dan. Been following your build on here for awhile, you should have no problems with EI and Centurion (we may well get our EIB at the same time!).

  11. Ok temporarily secured the bells and messed with the back a bit. I downloaded Imgur and couldn’t get the pics to download, so I tried tapatalk which I see a lot of people use.

  16. Have you got strapping for your thighs? First get them as high as you want them...the higher the better in my opinion (just my opinion) and see how that works and then tackle the shins and see how they work together, from the looks of it you should do just fine I noticed that there`s less "knee-gap" on the right leg but since the left looks spot on it shouldn`t be to difficult to fix

  26. Some updates today: installed lots of replacement screws on the counter and scope, also done the 2 guards. Most of the doopies set was in good condition out of the mold I though, but the guards needed a bit of the green stuff - which I love by the way, never used it before now, it's awesome! Lastly drilled a hole through the rear sight. Decided to go on in from each end and meet in the middle for this, didn't trust myself not to go wonky haha Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk

  30. Woke up early this morning and got to work. First thing was to "unwrap" my biceps. Woohoo! A little E6000 clean up and time for shoulder bell clip installation. Well, the clips I made yesterday were too short. No biggie. I made longer ones. 15 minutes later and they're in. Zap-A-Gap for a quick set up time, a clamp and good to go. Completed biceps...other than a couple small tweaks if needed. Finally, before breakfast, gluing my forearms together. One side only. A little E6000 and...wait until tomorrow to squeeze the halves together and complete the forearms! So far, it's been a productive day.

  36. Considering you made incorrect statements about another EI applicant, and then when you didn't get your way lambasted staff for "unfairness" on social media, yeah, I can see your reluctance. It wouldn't end well for you at all given your conduct.

  39. Update: Tino, you're a genius! (I'm sure everyone already knows that) So, I've shaved a bit off the top of the trigger (where it would pivot) and sunk the trigger deeper in. This couldn't have worked better for me as there's now a good amount of movement on the trigger while still using the Doopies trigger guard. Next I've done the spring... this was a fiddly little nightmare and involved lots of frustration lol finally got it all in though, and by some miracle, the trigger actually *clicks* now when pulled. This was a complete and utter fluke (I'll take it though!) And is caused when the pin on the back of the trigger flicks off one of the rungs of the spring. Only worry is: not sure how it will hold up in the long run. (Also, the spring isn't actually glued in yet, hope this will still be there after gluing!) Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk

  41. Don't do full strips of velcro. I made the mistake of using wide pieces of industrial strength velcro for the front and back of the side connections for the chest/back armor. Starting making cracks from all the pealing of the velcro. I'd advise small quantities of the Industrial strength.

  42. My belief is that innuendo, side accusations, complaints in other areas, etc. is not conducive to the mission of a detachment, which is to provide a place where all members can feel comfortable and that the boards are drama free. I would prefer that if there is a disagreement that it be discussed on the 501st only area so that we can hash it out openly, and everyone has a chance to weigh in and clear the air. I don’t know when thing changed, but these days so much 501st business – and this isn’t just FISD but other 501st forums too – seems to be done via PM, private FB group, etc. whereas in the past I had a lot less PMs/emails about Legion business. Life is too short to stay in a place of bitterness, resentment, and negativity.

  45. Have made a few ;). I use 1 and 1/2 hats which fits quite nicely. Just a case of unpicking seams and sewing in a new section. I fit elastic from on side to the other, then in the middle of that another piece attaches and fits in the middle of the back. When you put it on the helmet the T shape of elastic holds it there quite well.
