  1. Use e-6000. it's the best glue on the market for plastic. excellent bonding, and it has a little flex to it after curing, to prevent it from snapping apart when there's preassure on it. Don't fret about buying recast armor. It happens. You'll find that this community is alot less understanding to the guys recasting and throwing their wares up on e-bay in an attempt to make a quick buck. As a buyer, you're more likely to find people wanting to help you with getting your armor up to snuff, and get you trooping, than you are to get grief for your purchase. Good luck with your build. ask questions, get opinions. We're here for advice whenever you need it.
  2. get a 'mock turtle neck' it's basically the neck part of a turtle neck with a small smock that tucks into your undersuit.
  3. see, now I got out the Turtle Wax before and after my troop Saturday. Mabye it's just how I am, but I like my armor in a 'like new' state. Just goes to show that it's all about personal preferences!! Still love the TM armor. looks so prty!!
  4. Isn't "good ebay armor" an oxymoron?
  5. ATA is a great option. Fair price, and excellent quality. look around the boards for info on contacting ATA. you won't regret it.
  6. we salute you Sir....
  7. No doubts about this one. Congrats Billy!!
  8. Looking good. Only thing I would suggest is the grey paint between the teeth. notice there's white in between the teeth.
  9. Agreed.
  10. I think the topic area exists as much as a warning area for new troopers as a place to discuss recasting. Or at least it shoud serve that purpose. I think have an area to say "stay away from this seller, or that seller because their work is crap" is a good idea, and should be fostered by those that have the experience and knowledge to know who make crap, and who doesn't.
  11. yes, it is all recast, but I think the point of the topic area is to have a place to put all re-caster threads. Also to warn people of casters out there that are recasting other people's work and passing it off as their own (usually at a much poorer quality standard)
  12. Looking good, only thing I'd adjust (aside the afore mentioned boxes) is just the placement of your TD. It seems to be off center. It's nit-picking, I know, and an easy fix, but when you're looking good, not alot to pick apart. Good Job!!!
  13. Looking nice!! keep up the good work.
  14. Tomorrow is my first Troop!!! A local radio station is having a Halloween kids day at a local movie theatre. My garrison is trooping the event with Echo Base, our local RL affiliate.
  15. ---------
  16. e6000 glue is available at a place like Joann's or Michaels' craft shops. it's bout 6-10$ and is perfect for gluing armor together. Or anything else for that matter.
  17. I sooo thought a dirty thought with that statement.....
  18. I've never herd of him till now.
  19. looking really good there!!
  20. Yea, the FX kit is not 100% 'screen accurate' however it is a popular option to troop in. Good Luck with your build, and keep us updated with some pics so you can get outside opinions on your build. Good Luck!!!
  21. FX armor is known for being a little larger. It is acceptable to have an overlap, so I wouldn't worry about it. Just make sure it fits you as best you can, and make sure it's comfortable.
  22. in the EIB requirements thread : SHOULD HAVE * Trapezoidal latex hand guards - painted white - mounted on rubber gloves * For ANH Stunt, the holster will be affixed with two fasteners at the top. These may be rivets, snaps, or Chicago screws * For ANH Hero, the holster will be affixed with four fasteners, two at the top and two at the bottom. These may be rivets, snaps, or Chicago screws It is listed as a should have, not a must have, so I'd have to say it's ok as long as it's attached from the back. It'd still be up to Paul and Terrell though.
  23. Well, I for one hope everything works out for the best. You're a good guy, you're passionate about trooping, and the costuming hobby. That's what's important. Good luck with your application, and I hope it see you in the ranks of the Legion soon.
  24. I don't disagree that he had good intentions, did what he feels is right, and regrets what has happened. I never once felt that what he did was so bad that he shouldn't be included in the Legion. I sincerely hope the DG allows him membership. It was his attitude ex post facto that bothered me. As a recent recruit I can totally see where he was comming from. I still think it's a DG decision, as they're the ones that will be trooping with him. Vincent, the only thing I can say to you is that I was / am 100% behind what you tried to do. I think it's admirable that you tried to do what you did. However, since it all blew up, your attitude has steadily gone south, and I don't want to see that. Even your previous apology post has a condecending ring to it. Nobody here wants to see you do anything but suceed in becoming a member, so keep that in mind.
  25. Oh yea, and ATA is a reputable, stand up guy, not some 'flea-bay' seller bad mouthing another Armorer.
