  1. I don't disagree that he had good intentions, did what he feels is right, and regrets what has happened. I never once felt that what he did was so bad that he shouldn't be included in the Legion. I sincerely hope the DG allows him membership. It was his attitude ex post facto that bothered me. As a recent recruit I can totally see where he was comming from. I still think it's a DG decision, as they're the ones that will be trooping with him. Vincent, the only thing I can say to you is that I was / am 100% behind what you tried to do. I think it's admirable that you tried to do what you did. However, since it all blew up, your attitude has steadily gone south, and I don't want to see that. Even your previous apology post has a condecending ring to it. Nobody here wants to see you do anything but suceed in becoming a member, so keep that in mind.
  2. Oh yea, and ATA is a reputable, stand up guy, not some 'flea-bay' seller bad mouthing another Armorer.
  3. Thank you Gents. Allen, I'm looking forward to seeing your build all done.
  4. Vincent, I tried to be on your side throughout all this, I really did. I don't think I can anymore. You were asked to drop it, you didn't. The Legion by-laws state that the costume must meet 501st standards WITHIN applicable local laws. (I'm paraphrasing here) You continued to push the issue after you were given the "NO you can't have your toy gun" answer about a dozen times from the ministry. What did you think they were going to do? Especially affter you posted links to the 501st and Garrison websites in your e-mails. No matter what your intentions were, you went about it the wrong way. You didn't think of the consequences. What if LFL gets wind of this? What do you think would have been their stance on this if it had made CNN? You should consider yourself lucky that guys who lost alot of $ and time because of you are willing to give you a 2nd chance. I agree with the premise of what you did. Just not how you carried it out. Also, your 'Don't blame me" attitude isn't going to win you any friends on the matter either. A little humility here might be in order.
  5. My trooping suit is HIPS, there's nothing wrong with it.
  6. bah.. I wanted to do it as a 'limited edition' Elite Trooper. It's all good though, I talked to Walt, and he says the standard challange coin fits in the action figure blister perfectly, so I'm going to get one gold and one silver. Might just put the gold one in the blister pack to keep it safe.
  7. I too think Billy does alot for troops, always offering advice, point people to the right resources. Great Troop.
  8. Question on that, I'm getting a figure of me made, and I wanted to get a blister pack with some kind of commerative coin blister. I wanted to put an EIB coin in that, and also have one for myself. Are the gold coins going to be one per? or can we order 2?
  9. right you are. you must have the Force, and can do the Jedi mind reading trick redoing my TD is on the list of little things I want to do to me it look better.
  10. If you've got a steady hand, and you're not affraid of power tools, a Dremmel with a pack of carbon cutting disks will slice through armor like a hot knife through butter. I did all my cutting this way, and it saved me loads of time. My Dremmel is a varriable speed one, and it did an excellent job. Good luck on your build, take your time and you'll be trooping around the Great White North before you know it!!
  11. excellent job on the detonator christaan, Make sure you make the ends rounded where you trimmed the clips. Otherwise they'll scratch up you kidney plate everytime you put it on or take it off.
  12. can we nominate people who just won one last round? If so then I again nominate Smitty. Advice, parts, just being helpful, he does it all. Hands down.
  13. I had this issue, going back and looking at ANH, I saw that I did have my drop boxes hanging WAY too far down. I don't remember where I saw the 1" thing, but I remember thinking that 1" was correct.
  14. When I first joined, I had mentioned that I wanted to make my suit as close to EIB as I could from the begining, Paul told me to go for it. It inspired me to work a little extra harder on the details, and not to 'settle' on something that didn't look right, just to save time, or because it was easier.
  15. Membership approved Friday, 501st status on board today, EIB today. one shot one kill....
  16. Yessir!! Radio traffic indicated a reactor leak. I'll investigate ASAP!!!
  17. Thank you. Only thing I wish was different is the kidney plate, I wish it was a little wider. At 6"2' I know I have alot of area to cover, so I understand why it doesn't fit me 100%. I want to get 2 more of them, and make them into one that fits me a little better.
  18. Terrell had requested that I shorten the drop box straps, and correct the E-11 t-tracks. the last few shots show the corrections. Also shows my necl seal, as I forgot it when I was taking the first shots.
  19. I'd love to have access to the 501st section...
  20. I thought if that, but then there's unsupported pressure on the body suit, and I didn't want that, the tape puts the weight of the armor piece on my arm, and not on the bodysuit.
  21. TK-3914 requesting 501st status!! http://www.501st.com/members/displaymember...hp?userID=11182
  22. fabric tape for hockey sticks (sorry, I keep forgetting hockey's a regional thing) I had the same fear, that's why I'm going to switch to sock tape. It's the tape that hockey players use to hold up their socks. it's a clear tape that's designed to come off easily, doesn't mess with the fabric. I guess any sports tape would work fine, I haven't seen any pulling or anything from the bodysuit yet.
  23. So I REALLY didn't want straps going from my biceps to my forarms, I wanted them to be independent of the rest of my armor. I also didn't want to put anything through my body suit, or to have anything rely on the body suit for connection. so I came up with this idea, and hope it's helpful. First thing I did was to attach an interior snap piece to the inside of my forarm... Next I attached the outside of the snap to a 3" section of nylon strap using hockey tape, I tape the nylon strap to my forarm like so... then attach the snap with a finger from the other hand and it's on there!! has worked out very well for me so far, doesn't twist around, and it's attached quite well, doesn't pull on my biceps or shoulder straps at all. I used black hockey stick tape, but I'm thinking of going to clear sock tape, as it's cheaper, and easier to take off...
  24. where do we stand on this now? how many left?
