  1. I agree, look around the For Sale area, you'll find much higher quailty lids. may be more $, but you'll save yourself a headache in the end.
  2. Don't feel bad, I was putting the stripes on mine last night, side 1, perfect, side 2, backwards. that was after 3 hours polishing it with rubbing compound, so I forgave myself other than that nice lid!!
  3. YEA!!!!! (dances a little dance) what's the chance you could hook me up with some lenses?
  4. I work for Time Warner Cable, so I just use my roadrunner.com account.
  5. Hey!!! Smitty!! How you doin my man!! Nice to see you!!
  6. I had a guy one time durring Hurricane Wilma in Florida a few years ago call and ask why his internet wasn't working. After asking some questions I found out that his modem was in the basement. I asked him to go check the lights on the modem and tell me what they were doing. He said "I can't, this area's flooded, and I'm in a boat in my back yard with my laptop." so I said "let me get this streight, you're in a boat in your back yard, and your modem's in the basement? That would mean that your modem is probably under 6 feet of water or more right? And you're calling to find out why your internet isn't working?!?" People are brilliant sometimes Hope you get your armor soon. You'll have a blast getting it together!
  7. well, I'd seen it mentioned, and all, but no heads up, just looking out for peeps!! Did the first side in my basement, took about 10 seconds to get outside and get fresh air!!
  8. I do internet tech support, they're all bad days LOL
  9. New lid pics before I go back to sanding, this ghas 3-4 coats of white gloss, wet sanded, and I just added another white and a gloss clear. I got to buff it out after this so I can add my decals and go over it one more time with clear. then it's done except the insides and the lenses
  10. I'm currently fulfulling a life long dream, and making my first Stormtrooper Armor set. My armor is a full set of ATA armor. I'm very, very happy with it, and I like doing all the trimming, sanding, and really making it my own. I hope to have some pics up soon of the completed pieces, but I still have one thigh, brestplate, back plate and the arms to go. Anyway, back to the Dremmel and sander!!
  11. so I just reinforced the chin 'divots' for my hovi mics with t-shirt strips soaked in Super Glue. Worked perfect, but I want to warn anyone that hasn't done this, and is thinking of doing it of two things. 1. Do it outside. the fumes will burn, badly. 2. Work quickly, it hardens very quickly, and becomes almost like concrete. It's excellent for adding support to anything, but be careful!!
  12. for what it's worth, the armor is much thicker than the helmet. I was able to flex the butt plate a fair amount without cracking or tearing.
  13. TK-4510'a decals are the best, they fit an ATA helmet perfectly.
  14. it wa after the pics were shot, tiny little scrape in the paint on the left forehead, already buffed it out and continued painting. Just did the first application of clear coat. gotta wait a day then do the last coat of clear. but it's looking awesome.
  15. Dude, I somehow nicked the dome on something while the primer was wet then didn't notice till I was half way through the first coat of gloss. so now it's gotta dry for like 48 hours before I can sand it smooth and get back at it. PM me if you're going for sabre training tomorrow.
  16. OK, I trimmed a tad off the eyes, sanded them down, and got to assembly. gotta say, I'm quite happy with the results gonna lock down all the screws, and get it primed today, mabye even first coat of gloss....
  17. yea, I like the rounded look to the teeth, so they're staying. I can see a very faint crease line in the right eye, got a few more cm's to go on that one. but I think it's comming out OK for my first helmet ever.
  18. Very helpful Derek, I took your front view and put it next to mine, and it looks like I got a few cm's left to go especially on the right. that's a nice looking helm you got there. I think I'm gonna leave the teeth as is I think, but the eyes def need a little more trimming. Thanks again for your input.
  19. ok, looking for opinions, should I stop here? or does it look like I need to take a little more off the eye holes? Thanks in advance for the input. Also, what do you think of the teeth? I'm really happy with them, but any constructive criticism is always welcome.
  20. with a little luck I'll be finishing my helmet build and primming it for painting tomorrow!!
  21. Clamp cracked my eye hole made me almost cry... but it's all better now
  22. I'm building mine now, how did you hold the two pieces in place while you drilled your holes? I can get it lined up perfectly like I want, but that takes 2 hands. I was thinking of using a little e6000 under the brow on the 'forehead' of the faceplate under the dome and just hold it there till it's secure, then going about my drilling and screwing. but I'm interested in seeing how you guys do it. Thanks.
