  6. If Greg accepts my offer for TE2 body armor, can I get a little assistance on the S/H? Two boxes to AUS, sorry to have to ask... $$$ is a little tight right now. T
  7. Will Greg fit TE2 body armor? T
  8. Hi Dakota, Welcome to the FISD. If you haven't already noticed, there is a certain protocol that we follow here when it comes to recommendations for certain types of armor. You won't see anyone posting a reply to your questions about armor with a simple, "here bro, X armor is the best and here's the link"... that won't happen here. And you can't post a I want to buy X armor thread because that's against the general rules here. So don't get frustrated in your search. You might seek out the detachment leader or even his executive officer...both individuals are knowledgeable and experienced. One recommendation was to visit Star War Helmets.com. There you will see several different helmets from different makers. Good background info to be had there. Doing your homework will result in a more successful and pleasant armor purchase to be sure. Have you tried contacting the Southern California Garrison for assistance? I'm sure there are numerous individuals assigned there who might be able to answer all your questions. And, you can always PM anyone of the troopers here for their personal recommendations off-line. As for me, I'm 5'6" and I started with FX armor. I stayed with FX armor for a couple of months until I found a movie-accurate armor maker known as TE. I now wear TE armor exclusively...but I also have AP & GF armor as well. See ya around the campus! T ePS: Also, the "size matters not" post was not intended for you - just an acknowledgement that the ANH-type armor that is available out there in the galaxy is indeed better for us "vertically-challenged" troopers.
  9. Argh, judge ME by my size do YOU? Well, you should NOT... T
  10. Sierra Hotel!! Thanks Jason for stepping up and clearing this up for us all. As you well know, there are those of us who are very much interested in the origins of buckets and armor. Thanks again for your invaluable input. T
  11. Congratulations boss! Quite an accomplishment indeed! Sorry about the situation at work...tuff enough having to do the nine-five, but to add unwanted "drama" into the mix is just insane. Here's to you boss! Can't wait to see what you come up with for the next 6K Your humble servant, T ePS: Update on MEPD?
  12. Kevin is a great individual to deal with...guaranteed! T
  13. I recall hearing this brand name early on in my Star Wars journey. However, I've never seen the product nor do I know anyone who wears it. Regardless of what you wear, it's still HOT under the armor! T
  14. And a fabulous site it is! T
  15. My gosh.... How does he do that??? T
  16. No really. And how about those troopers who are just posting so they can "up" their numbers... (oh, dang it, only 505...) T
  17. Don't you just hate troopers who post just for the sake of posting... T
  18. Oh Gosh!!! Never a dull moment around here. T
  19. Welcome back bro. I certainly know about depression and life issues... "Quick question, is TE2 done making his armor?" The TE2 3rd Anniversary Run is set to begin July 2009. This is also the "aloha" run. "I'm thinking about going EP3 clone trooper now. I have no clue where to start, other than CT.net" I'm currently working on my OSCS EpIII 501st Legion Clonetrooper see you on the CT website. T
  20. No greater profession than being a father...unless you're a mother. Congrats bro! T
  21. O'right!
  22. WHOA!!! Killa pic! T
  23. How far along are you bro? I wanted to be finished by Halloween... Have you tackled the "spoons" yet? That REALLY scares me. T
  24. Thanks guys for your insights. It appears that I've done all of the above and most of you have already confirmed what I've discovered on my own journey. In my early footsteps I attempted to use a DREMEL tool with less than spectacular results - the plastic often times melted as it came off the piece I was working on. Using a sharp XACTO knife came next with the sliced fingers and thumbs to prove it. I then discovered the modeling "scissors" used by R/C model builders with great success - on .090 gauge HIPS anyway. Combined with tin snips and "score & snap" I know that I'm not alone in what techniques I'm using. Still, this ABS plastic (OSCS CT armor) is very intimidating so I'll have to get my courage up before I cut the first piece. (Did I hear "armor party" at the Man Cave?) Thanks again gang! T
