Best thing to seal ear seams
john danter replied to NewTrooper2's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
Oh yeah, they all had gaps. Awful things to get right. So I'm glad the originals did have gaps, but I love the hair drier idea If you get the flat bit lined up and hold it in place with say a thin book or something....? you can use a pencil to trace the outline, that helps Mark the ears L/R first, and front/back as if you're anything like me, you'll do the wrong ears and then try again the wrong way around lol John -
Yeah it's a much better mod, I've been doing it for years. think I have a tutorial on here somewhere? Here's mine on the UKG anyway http://ukgarrison.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=23518 I have lots of mylar speakers and white vac formed domes if anyone is interested

Doopydoo's Hasbro Kit - New Pieces!?
john danter replied to Jorran's topic in General Weapons Discussion
Heres a quick pick of my old real sterling ---------- And I doubt you can bend that resin so please don't try Doopydoos kit is good enough for what it's meant to be doing, but I always try and nudge people down the PVC pipe and glued on parts line. Only a little more effort needed (the drill holes etc) and you're done When you spray and weather that up, it should be fine and will let you get cleared -
Yeah a tiny bit to a screen accurate TK looks cool, but not in the same degree as Sandies, Snowies or Bikers apply. TKs usually waltz about a spaceship playing darts in the mess hall or having a sandwich in the canteen lol. Not much dirt in those places Just put a little bit on

Valyyn's SDS build[*SDS]
john danter replied to Valyyn's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Wow, I didn't know you can get SDs in kit form Good luck with it sir. Take your time -
I used to own one. But never trooped in it Lots I know say its too brittle. That said, he's been involved in some very heavy legal dealings with Lucasfilm over his sales and his claims about the moulds he's using. He claims he still has the original helmet moulds, but he certainly does not have the original body suit moulds. He is the guy who made them back in 76, no doubting that, and the only seller who sells it already glued and made up for you. That maybe a plus point, but not if it requires trimming, and it WILL require mods to make it 501st trooper friendly and give it some security As for your other options..... Search for stuff like TM, AP, TE, TE2 RT mod etc There are a good few out there selling 'better' armour

Hi Kaleb, Mine is in the tube that goes around our face. I put most of mine in the rear of the helmet, batteries in the sides to balance it -
T-21 Blaster in action!
john danter replied to pandatrooper's topic in MiniMag PTL Missile Launcher, T-21, RT-97C (MG-15)
It just gets better Inspirational dude -
Terry, that is out of this world mate Love it!!!! Only tip I will give is, if you need it that is, your wooden sections can get a little heavy, so when I do stuff like this I use an Archery Target (hi density foam) and cut out my shapes. Cover wire mesh and bondo Makes the same shapes but a fraction of the weight That said, who cares, this build is amazing and sorry I hadn't see it before. Very cool Thanks for sharing John

No dude, no need to sand it down at all. Just get some silver rub n buff and dry brush the corners of your blaster with silver No need to strip it back at all

All of these come from Halfords in the UK I use primer matt for the body gloss for the handle Steps are Primer Silver metallic paint marker pen on corners etc Masquepen masking fluid on the corners to cover the silver http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MASQUEPEN-Watercolour-Masking-Fluid-Applicator_W0QQitemZ250365409904QQcmdZViewItem?rvr_id=158119112172&rvr_id=158119112172&cguid=a958aa981270a0e2023296d2ff02273e#ht_500wt_922 Then spray matt black. Dry, another spray Masking tape, spray handle gloss black. 2 or 3 coats. Clear laquer the handle (otherwise it comes off after many troops) Rub the masking fluid (dries to a semi stiff rubber like material) off the corners to expose clean silver Spray matt black and gun metal grey onto a cloth and dab that cloth onto the exposed areas so they're not so clean anymore Spray Brass on cloth Dab cloth onto scope corners I think E11s look better if some of the individual parts are emphasised with shades of the gun metal cloth, by rubbing. e.g. the underarm and shoulder butt. end caps etc Done

Plus there are loads of them on the racks in the Control Room Luke and Han storm with Chewie. So it's safe to assume if a clean TK wanted to pick one up, he could

It's a tough one. Normally we provide entertainment and add value to events, so we shouldn't pay to get in, no. ....But who asked who? If we've asked an event if we can come, and not the other way around then they're doing us a favour by saying yes come along and play. If they then charge, it's a slightly different matter as they didn't ask us initially Its a tough one as without events, it gets a little boring just wearing your costume at home in your bedroom lol We do this, hopefully for an audience. If you have to pay for that audience, then that's up to you. Tricky question

Best E-11 UK Contacts?
john danter replied to craig enzyme's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
If you want an accurate one I would say Steve Rogers dude [email protected] Steve specialises in urathane E11s made on a PVC pipe. Very very accurate moulds enable him to make flexible parts and they're glued onto a PVC pipe. He's on here selling ESB kits ATM I think -
Sorry dude. My TK armour is right at the back of my attic ATM and my TK is in mid surgery anyway. So I don't actually wear mine right now Very simple to do though. Just one extra thing to connect up before you troop.

I couldn't have said better myself dude....in fact I didn't just some 3 or 4 posts above lol I too work in IT as an ERP developer and have to learn new stuff as the client always wants the new 'gizmos' cloud transactions, web based access, remote access for clients, on and on it goes. I'd never heard of these things when I started but understand them now. Mainly through the web/books, reading and asking about on what others have been kind enough to document and also just getting in there. So I'm a fan of both worlds. Find out for yourself yes but also hope you can just read/learn from others who are are already ahead of you. Only today I solved a pretty niggly problem in work. It's been bugging us all for 2 weeks. As soon as I solved it I'd wrote down how to find and solve the problem (I've got about 2Gb of this kind of stuff on a USB pen I keep safe) and emailed my colleagues who all do the same as me so it will one day help them. I could have kept it to myself and maybe I should as they're all a threat to my job and bringing food to the table, but what's the point. They've helped me in the past so it's only right I help them. That's my job, my livelihood! If I can apply that attitude there, I'm pretty sure we can do it for bits of plastic

Transporting armor
john danter replied to Bill.I.Am's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
Some guys use a drum case to hold the helmet in. Snare drum type case. That and a medium sized hardshelled suitcase -
I made a neck brace for mine I have a loop that goes around my neck and they hang off that alone I saw a behind the scenes shot of a TK with his bells on but no chest plate. Guessed he must have had something like this Mine fastens at the front with velcro and is a triangular shape with the 2 straps dangling down for my bells to pop onto I have a pic but I'm on my iPhone ATM sorry

Paul's boot issue isn't black and white as he's been asked not to share. Personally I think it's a bit out of order and a little self soothing if I'm honest. Why not share info? Seriously, why not? If everyone did that, what a boring and slow moving world it would be. You know you found out a little fact before anyone else, so pat on the back to you. Feel proud in your achievements. That said, does the whole world need to know you know something but won't share it? No! You look like a fool acting like that. If you want to keep it to yourself, do just that. Keep it to yourself. I'm a big fan of sharing because one day, you may need some help yourself and helping others is a great thing. Great thing! Use your knowledge (hard earned or handed on a plate) to help others, not yourself The boot issue is a little more complex as the parties were asked not to share. Paul may have been dropping hints that few picked up on, so it's a toughie. As for other stuff, whatever you're reason, if your life isn't in danger, go for it, share away. That said I know a few things I've not made public lol, but I was asked not too as it might detract from someone's book sales in a few years Its an awkward one

I'm not quite sure which bit you mean? The bit where the holster straps attach to the belt? Heros had 4 2 top, 2 bottom and stunts just 2 at the top Is that whats confusing you?
