Fish's ANOVOS Build Thread - Aspiring for L3
CableGuy replied to fishgoh0nk's topic in ANH (Stunt and Hero)
I think Colin (menschie) is correct that you CAN reduce or remove a return edge in certain areas IF you need to. HOWEVER, screen used had usually at least a few millimetres of return in most areas. Personally, I have varying degrees of return edge across my armour parts and have NO discomfort at all. My return edges are sanded for comfort (no snagging) and proportional to the armour part in question. Also, I fitted my armour to my frame based on the armour parts having those return edges so it still fits like a glove. I’d personally suggest that you consider return edges part by part before thinking about removing them. :-) -

Fish's ANOVOS Build Thread - Aspiring for L3

Yeah, that’s the idea. Just giving you a slightly straighter line down the back of your armour, allowing the butt to sit a little straighter on the lower ridge of the kidney. As I said, it’s an ideal time to play around with options like that and see how it looks, how comfortable it is etc. before you glue bits together. Your making a great job of this so far, by the way. Keep posting up pics and questions and we’ll try to give suggestions etc. Keep it up. [emoji1303][emoji1303][emoji1303][emoji1][emoji1][emoji1] -
Freduster's ANH Stunt TK build (RS Props, aiming for Centurion)
CableGuy replied to Freduster's topic in ANH Build Threads
I’d agree with the others. A picture with your arms by your sides will help to judge it. I’d wait until you have your strapping don’t so that you can wear your arms along with your torso. If required, looks like you’ll have room to shift the biceps up a little and possibly reduce the width of he biceps too. Should be a lot clearer once you get to that stage with the torso all strapped up. :-) -

Hiya, Whilst you’re in the “tapping things up” phase, perhaps you could try loosening the kidney a little. This could give you a little more movement, pad out your midriff a little and help to align the butt plate. Here’s a (very bad) illustration of what I’m on about... Not the best picture in the world, but perhaps worth a shot with your arms up. You could add a little foam inside the kidney to help with that gap at the back. How you had it is fine, however this was a thought as you’d mentioned the butt plate. Best wishes Dan -
Freduster's ANH Stunt TK build (RS Props, aiming for Centurion)
CableGuy replied to Freduster's topic in ANH Build Threads
I’d be wary off cutting of any length. They should be the correct length as-is so ideally you’ll only need to make cuts to fit around the leg, rather than length. Regarding the arms, do you have any pics of your full arms in place? (Shoulder, bicep, forearm?) You might be able to shift the forearms and biceps up a little to give clearance at the glove end. (And thanks for your kind words - happy to help :-)) -

The topic of RS thighs also came up here the other day: Tox's RS build thread https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/44970-toxs-rs-build-thread/?do=findComment&comment=616119 Might be worth a little look. :-) -

Hi Freddy Hopefully this pic will help. The left thigh (when worn) has that distinctive bump at the top. Once you have that, the rest should fall into place. Dan :-) -

Hiya. Do you have your undersuit yet? Ideally, you want to measure up with your undersuit on so you get the best possible fit of your armour parts. :-) -
Looks much better than my early test fits ;-) Must be exciting - you’re getting really close to the big reveal. :-)

Wow - that’s coming together really nicely. :-)

Hi Martijn, Making good progress. Before you finish measuring and gluing the backs of your thighs, personally, I would recommend that you attempt to level out the top of the thighs a little more. I know you referenced a fellow trooper with that offset, however that might be adding to your discomfort. Evening out the top would also add to the screen accuracy of your suit. (See ref pics). FISD gallery Here is a link to a fellow trooper here: you can see how the bottom of the right thigh is purposefully misaligned. This will help to even out the top and the discrepancy at the bottom will be covered by the thigh ammo pack. Doing this might allow you to move the whole thigh up by an inch or so (the amount that the outer part of the thigh currently site above the inner part of the thigh). Hope that helps. Dan [emoji4]

Lovely job on that bucket. [emoji1303] -
Welcome, Chris. Just by by signing up on this site you’ve made a huge step forward. This place is FULL of people that love Stormtroopers, love to make people smile, and LOVE to help fellow troopers. Key things are; - ask lots of questions (we’re here to help) - do lots of research here on FISD (looking at other builds, approved Centurion* applications, looking at the “gallery” - ask more questions (better to ask than head down the wrong path) - make many new friends whilst being a 501st Stormtrooper Best wishes Dan *to join the 501st we build our costumes to meet certain quality criteria. There are 3 levels; basic, Expert Infantry and Centurion. Centurion means that your armour is a close to screen accurate as possible.

Ensi's ANH Stunt Build [ATA] With Centurion in mind!
CableGuy replied to Ensi's topic in ANH Build Threads
Hi Daniel, Looks like you’re on the rights tracks so far. That’s a good shopping list. Don’t forget a voice system if you’re going that route. I’d recommend TRamp as it’s very reliable and all in one unit. The ears look okay so far. If in doubt, check out the FISD gallery, www.starwarshelmets.com or some of the approved build threads. As you’re not too far away in Norway, don’t forget some of the U.K. suppliers, too. Imperial Warfighters, RWA, RS Propmasters, Burkbench Designs, for example. They all make great props, including gloves, neck seals, boots, belts, loads of supplies. RWA makes a strapping kit including all of the fixing and strapping which is very handy. Keep those questions coming. :-) Best wishes Dan -
