I had interpreted it as the black parts you've called out are gaps, the 'tab' would be the white part inbetween (and another on the right side)?

"UV protected white plastic"... wonder if that means ABS paste is going to show sooner. I don't recall my ANH TK saying that in the spec sheet.

That refers to the thickness of the ABS sheets used to pull the vacuum formed pieces. Thicker plastic is more durable but less flexible (in theory) and may also cause less detail in the pulls (as it is harder to suck the air out). I believe OT Stormtroopers were 5'10"ish. Height doesn't really matter in the 501st (I'm a little short for a stormtrooper, myself) but if you are taller/shorter than the "ideal" height it just means more work to get the armor to fit you right.

Small update: Had to dremel out a bit more space inside the handle than I originally thought I'd need for the safety grip. I'll need to use some Apoxie sculpt to clean up the interior/edges but oh well. Also... aluminum thigh bracket! (A friend made it, not for sale, for those wondering.)

Agreed! What paints/prep/etcetera did you use to paint your silver parts? They came out great.

The armor itself is good (if a little thin) but wait times aren’t so great.

$189 is cheap for armor but there's probably a reason... be prepared to possible have to put in quite a bit of work to get 501st approval. You may have been lucky. Start a build thread and report back.

I believe I had to trim mine down for it to look right FWIW.
