  1. There are lots of photos my suit's internal rigging on my build thread. Also, every Centurion application includes shots inside the armor to show the rigging, so you can see lots of options from the best possible suits there.

I'm shooting mine tonight as well. Things were hectic at the 24 hour relay, and it slipped my mind. Plus I was cookie-less.
  3. This is a OLD thread, but no, most "2 part glue" refers to simple 2 part epoxy. Personally, I simply used E6000 to glue my latex hand guards from JustJoseph onto my Nomex gloves. Worked beautifully. (ignore the black smudges on the left)
  4. You may be wrong, but it makes sense. I guess I know which one I'm going to want, if I expect to be able to do double duty for a TD!
  5. Definitely not our guy. That guy is in Connecticut, and we're in SoCal. Similar idea, but I believe his was homemade with an Arduino controlling the sound and the glove was made using conductive thread for the contacts. I'll see if I can reach him and find out if there is any info on his setup online. I suspect Disney's setup is considerably more sophisticated and polished, but the both do similar things in a generally-similar manner, regardless. ALL THAT SAID: Most Stormtrooper voice changers change YOUR actual voice to sound like a stormtrooper. So why stick to prerecorded clips when you can simply say whatever you want? Especially since there's not very much actual Stormtrooper dialog to use as source material... you'd be pretty limited.
  6. Old thread, but it was linked in a recent discussion, and this caught my interested. Why would Centurion approval be limited Orange to orange? Aren't there existing examples of troopers wearing all three colors? (black, white, orange)
  7. KB and Jim's kits are both larger than Anovos. Anovos is your best bet, if you're smaller.
  8. Perhaps try connecting to Mike on the TrooperGear Facebook page? Emails can sometimes fall into a black hole and not be delivered.
  9. There was a thread, either here or in one of the FB groups, that discussed the kit. Apparently it's very sophisticated. Plays pre-recorded clips, triggered by controls in the glove. I can't recall if it's gesture-based or has touch controls. This weekend I saw the trigger glove used by a "Chewbacca" at a local troop. It had a touch point contact in the thumb, and corresponding contacts at the tip and first joint of each finger. Touching the thumb tip to the index finger, triggered growl #1. Touching it to the first joint on the index finger triggered growl #2. Middle finger tip is growl #3. Etc. Two sounds per finger, using the thumb to trigger them, so he had a choice of 8 sounds, all easily triggered with subtle movements of one hand. And this was just a homemade kit. The Disney kit is reportedly much more sophisticated... but I suspect it uses similar overall function, regardless of some of the specific details. The actor just triggers the phrase they want from a canned set of choices. A little practice and it all looks pretty seamless.
  10. Welcome, Todd! We look forward to helping you out with your build. Get those photos posted, so we can see how it's going! And yes, PLEASE do yourself a favor and thoroughly read over Tony's build thread (Ukswrath, link was posted above) before you get too far. Anovos has a number of incorrect things in their instructions, if you are building for 501st approval. They'll get it built, if you just want it for Cons and Halloween, but they'll be wrong for the 501st and you'll end up with a lot of extra work to undo the mistakes they have. Where in SoCal are you? Armor parties with local troopers can definitely help clear up any questions you may have, as well. I look forward to trooping with you!
  11. Oof. Obviously no bucket (hopefully that goes without saying... especially since it's likely illegal), but I don't think I could actually get behind the wheel while in armor. Even laying down on the back seat (if that was an option) would be pretty dicey (not mention hard on the armor). Other than a tall bus or van that you can stand in (legally?) for the trip, I would plan on suiting up in the parking lot. Around here it's pretty common for troopers to arrive already wearing the undersuit, with some basketball shorts and a shirt over it, so there's no need to strip down too far while suiting up.

    Swag Toss

I will be trooping on Saturday and will be sure to take a pic with a cookie... I'm not going to have a chance to armor up before then, unfortunately. How long is this toss open? I'd LOVE to win that patch; it's awesome!
  13. Each thread in the TFA build thread forum contains information about which type of armor they are building: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/161-tfa-build-threads/ Just looking at the titles of the first few threads, I see many people building armor by Jimmiroquai. If you google that plus "armor", you'll find more information on how to reach Jim. There is at least one other vendor besides Anovos. The information is there if you look for it. For instance, this thread may help: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/37733-got-my-kit-today-now-what/ I would be more specific for you, but: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/1695-do-not-post-where-do-i-buy-armor-threads/
  14. The OT TK is a great kit, and a great intro to hard armor. Most adaptable hard armor kit, in terms of body size accommodation. Take any ship dates provided by Anovos with a big grain of salt, though. They're notorious for pushing dates back, sometimes pushing them back MANY times.
  15. I believe an Anovos rep posted on their FB page that they no longer do discount codes, except for their regular item sales (con specials, etc.).

  17. ^^ The Hoover tool is AMAZING. I borrowed a friend's once. Shame they're so crazy expensive, because that friend moved away. I do just fine with the standard setting tools and a mallet. One tip that can help is assemble the pieces, then use Phillips screwdriver and give a light tap to get it started, then use the regular setting tool to finish it.
  18. I actually asked that question somewhere in the past few pages of his thread, and I believe he posted the measurements. EDIT: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/20859-accurate-anh-stormtrooper-strapping-brackets-v-20-now-available/?p=504548
  19. It doesn't count until it's been baptized in blood! LOL (the blood of your enemies totally counts)
  20. Great job! I hope I can be involved in the next one.
  21. Also check the build threads in the TFA forum to see people actually assembling the various suits that are available. Anovos is not yet shipping their suits, but there are at least two other vendors who are.
  22. Interesting discussion. Isn't Jimmiroquai's FOTK armor made of a newer kind of flexible fiberglass? And that's been well-received. It seems there are some types of fiberglass that are not as abhorrent as others.
  23. ABS paste is perfect for that sort of thing.
