  1. I think you'll find SDS would disagree with you on that one! :
  2. How about the good old snatch wars.
  3. I believe AP is still in Canada. When I got armor from him he sent it to NY and then it was sent to me. Aparently it was cheaper tha sending it direct from Canada.
  4. This is a lovely lid mate as are all yours...... My Te HDPE has this little detail too:
  5. actually I think milk bottles do come in two different types of plastic. Good grief, I'm going to be looking at milk bottles now! we'ere going to re name this place FIMBD(First Imperial Milk Bottle Detachment)
  6. Hi Paul, I know what you're saying it doesn't really add up unless it was a material he was also using in the production of the boats and other stuff he was making at the time?
  7. I've just come off the phone from Andrew and he says that all the suits were made of an ABS with a high rubber content. At the time of production after he had made the helmets from HDPE he was asked to do the suits and took a gamble before it was finalized on what plastic was wanted and ordered some extusion abs that could be made to order with different flexabillity. HDPE couldn't be used for the armor as it is nearly impossible to glue. Today the armor is acrylic capped therefor much more ridgid than the originals. He also said that the armor wasn't particularily White but that didn't show under the studio lighting as it bleached them up and looked White on film. So there you have it.
  8. I just asked Andrew again and he said it was a type of polypro which is similar to the milk bottle material and HDPE but paint does adhere to it better though.
  9. I just updated the pics ( I had moved them by mistake)in the first post with the pre painted version of the face plate. I also found out it is some kind of polyurethane that milk bottles are made of too not HDPE!
  10. Is this fact or just a thought? I hadn't heard of this before...
  11. Congrats Pablo about time buddy! :dancing-trooper: Now if I can only get my own behind into gear......
  12. I can ask Andrew if anyone is interested in his answer? He did make them.......
  13. I think this is a very interesting subject and one that get's a lot of bad press. Years ago I thought it would be a good idea to mold a set of a known makers armor that is renowned for not fitting together properly. Like many..... But when I bought the subject up I was basically shot down where I stood! I thought it would be beneficial to the community to have a set of armor and lids that fitted together seamlessly and even a novice with basic modeling skills could put it together. This would basically mean reworking nearly every piece of the jigsaw so to speak. Not an easy job and not one many have taken on. What gets me about this topic is that it seems OK for the few to get away with it it it benefits certain people in the loop? Someone said to me once that if you steal a car and repaint it it doesn't make it right and is still someones hard work that I would be ripping off, Granted I said but I wasn't simply repainting something. I was going to put a lot of hard work into this to make it something to be proud of. But as you well know anything that is done in the world of recasting is frowned upon and I got so much flack for even thinking about it, I scrapped the idea and have since never thought about it again.
  14. If it's screen accuracy you are going for then it was just a piece of star shaped foam pushed in to the crown. Otherwise it's up to you really. some people go for the high impact foam used for knee pads that can be found on ebay and work wear stores. Fans again can be found here. There was a recent thread on squirrel fans as they push the most air on this forum and I beleve there is someone in the UK that does ready made systems for you lid. hers some links: ----- these are just some of the threads I found using the search button.....enjoy.......
  15. Hi paul, all the bumps on the face and back and cap are present on the mold/pull , not the paint. I happen to have done a fairly good job on the paint even if I do say myself I think it's just down to the lighting.
  16. I have to disagree with that, I see to many shiny repainted Sterling conversions and I have to say living with it for a while I'm glad I didn't go the shiny new look. I personally love the screen used look of it. But hey it's all down to personal taste and if you like shiny make yours shiny There no wrong or right when it comes down to personalization, That's what make us all individuals.
  17. I'm quite enjoying it! I love a good discussion.......A few seem to take this discussion too personally and to seriously. I know it sucks to have your work ripped off and I don't defend those that do it but as had been said no-one in this hobby copying studios or licensed work has any rights period. we can take a morel stance but I afraid that's it.....
  18. Thanks for all your comments and suggestions guys.....
  19. Congrats Billy, It's my turn to doff my hat to you now sir.....
  20. Yeah cheers Nate! I think? Well it had to be an ESB as I already have some ANH and am waiting for a ROTJ so just to complete the saga I went for this.....
  21. They say you should never polish an antique it adds a patina and the dirt makes in valuable. I say the same with your armor. LEAVE it as is
  22. I have just repainted the vocoder and frown and will post some more pix when it's dry.......
  23. I believe it is because of the nature of HDPE. It stretches alot and is very hard to pull off the molds after forming. AA said it is not nice to work with at all.
