  1. If it's screen accuracy you are going for then it was just a piece of star shaped foam pushed in to the crown. Otherwise it's up to you really. some people go for the high impact foam used for knee pads that can be found on ebay and work wear stores. Fans again can be found here. There was a recent thread on squirrel fans as they push the most air on this forum and I beleve there is someone in the UK that does ready made systems for you lid. hers some links: ----- these are just some of the threads I found using the search button.....enjoy.......
  2. Hi paul, all the bumps on the face and back and cap are present on the mold/pull , not the paint. I happen to have done a fairly good job on the paint even if I do say myself I think it's just down to the lighting.
  3. I have to disagree with that, I see to many shiny repainted Sterling conversions and I have to say living with it for a while I'm glad I didn't go the shiny new look. I personally love the screen used look of it. But hey it's all down to personal taste and if you like shiny make yours shiny There no wrong or right when it comes down to personalization, That's what make us all individuals.
  4. I'm quite enjoying it! I love a good discussion.......A few seem to take this discussion too personally and to seriously. I know it sucks to have your work ripped off and I don't defend those that do it but as had been said no-one in this hobby copying studios or licensed work has any rights period. we can take a morel stance but I afraid that's it.....
  5. Thanks for all your comments and suggestions guys.....
  6. Congrats Billy, It's my turn to doff my hat to you now sir.....
  7. Yeah cheers Nate! I think? Well it had to be an ESB as I already have some ANH and am waiting for a ROTJ so just to complete the saga I went for this.....
  8. Ok one with the stain frown and vocoder.
  9. They say you should never polish an antique it adds a patina and the dirt makes in valuable. I say the same with your armor. LEAVE it as is
  10. I have just repainted the vocoder and frown and will post some more pix when it's dry.......
  11. I believe it is because of the nature of HDPE. It stretches alot and is very hard to pull off the molds after forming. AA said it is not nice to work with at all.
  12. Hi, yeah. there's no pulling the wool over your eyes guys! The ear caps I got with it were split and not good at all and I didn't get any mic tips or trim, lenses with it. As I know AA i asked him for some spares and this is what I got. As they were originally SDS I didn't think it would matter too much. I have been in touch with Keith about some of his mic tips but just haven't got round to getting some yet. I may go over the frown with satin I just didn't have any in house and wanted to get it finished as it's been lying around for quite a while now un-finished.
  13. Cheers John, I just realized I forgot to put the bottom trim on in my haste to get the pix up....
  14. And some more outside:
  15. Hi Guys, I thought I would start a new show off thread on my TE HDPE ESB lid I just this minute finished On with the pics:
  16. Everyone at work calls me an anorak! Less offensive I suppose, at least they do some good like keep the rain off......My wife just calls me sad.
  17. OK, I understand the recast debate but what I don't understand is this thing with SDS being labeled a recaster. Is it that he lied in court or that he recast his own work that had been recast by someone else? It just seems that it's fine for the likes of TE, TE2, ATA and even CAP to recast armor that was lets face it made by SDS in the first place. Yet although it has never actually been proven that SDS did recast other makers or not (hearsay)( I may be wrong here, so please enlighten me) Surely that he made the originals gives him some right to copy his own work that copied from his original work? Confused? So am I........... I also understand that we must keep a degree of quality with producers of armor. It has been said that it is accepted that anyone who gains access or buys something original may recast it and sell it to the community. How many of the accepted armor and lid makers out there actually did or do? Buying molds from someone that did is also accepted? Personal is a very loose term as these producers are not making these pieces for personal use they are profiting from the production of recasted wares by selling them to the community. if someone can sell a suit of armour on the net for a couple of hundred dollars albeit crap, it just goes to show how much profit is made. I realize money payed out for molds, armour and lids etc is covered in the cost but this is profit anyway you look at it. The cost of materials and time are not reflected here in reality it is the privilege of us being able to own a screen accurate replica.
  18. That's a beautiful set of amour. I've been looking for something this accurate for ages. And the Shipping costs are a bargain too! US $423.24 United Kingdom UPS Worldwide Expedited
  19. Couldn't agree more!
  20. :lol:I cannot emphasize this enough! I just spent a couple of hours down at A&E with a scratched eye ball from grinding a steel scope rail for someone here. I thought oh it's only a quick job I can't be bothered to dig my goggles out! How wrong I was. Aluminium is alot softer to work with and lighter to troop with.
  21. Manny, Great review! I couldn't have put it better myself. Only I do also have the voice core and it ain't bad, but Rom F/X and Hyperdyne are the best. For me the Rom F/X is the easiest to install and set up and run..... Click all the underlined links above and you'll find everything discussed there.
