Anovos kit vs completed ensemble
mikidymac replied to RTrooperAlex's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Nobody has seen the completed kit from Anovos. Keep in mind that if they build the suit it will not be fitted to your body like you can when you build it yourself. Also they will probably assemble it with their velcro and elastic which most have found is far from the best way to do it. -
I guess verbal would be fine. I just couldn't tell what and how the white brackets were that attach it to the helmet.
-
Hold on... could you please go over the hard hat liner model and install? Thanks.

Some advice needed please
mikidymac replied to MaxTrooper's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
The Anovos armor should fit with some work and is one size fits most. The Anovos soft goods will not fit you in a size large but you can buy any black sports underwear for less than $30 so I wouldn't let that be a deal breaker. Keep in mind you will have to buy the undergarments for any armor that you buy. I am 6'3" and 200 lbs and have the Anovos. The armor fits with the exception of a 1/2" gap in the kidney to ab plate but that is fine up to EIB status. The only thing that didn't fit was the XL shirt as it looked like a size Medium but they are sending me an XXL for free. -
Hey Tony, I hope you buy stock in Monster Energy and can squeeze 28 hours of work into a 24 hour day. LOL, you have a lot of new CRL's to start writing and approving.
-
All I can say is I feel sorry for the Officers that write the CRL's with all these new canon characters and variations. Just when you thing TFA troopers are the new standard... BAM! OT TK's are back!
-
White paint, LOL. Sorry I couldn't resist. I just used some Testors gloss white I had laying around.
-
Don't get me wrong, I think the new Death Troopers look amazing, it is just that I was hoping for a Shadow Trooper.
-
I think the new film looks awesome and I got chills seeing the OT troopers. It is going to be very cool. Having said that 99% of the viewing public are going to see the OT troopers in this movie. It is only us 1%ers that are going to notice the differences. The suits look like a quick and cheap recreation of the classic TK offering more mobility and able to fit a wider range of body types. My guess is that it has been said that this will be much darker and more of a "war/battle" movie than any others so I am sure they needed the troopers to have better mobility. What I don't understand is with all the licensing and work with Disney why didn't they just use the Anovos suits? They would have been accurate, cheap and already available. The only thing I saw as a disappointment is the Shadow troopers were of a new design. I was so hopeful that they would be classic Shadow Troopers so my one on order from Anovos would have some street cred.

I am not sure if this is the correct place to post this but I wanted to let you know I just saw that the first Rogue One trailer will air tomorrow morning on Good Morning America.

ANOVOS Soft Goods
mikidymac replied to mr0072003's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
Confirmed. Armor box has the belt, holster and neck seal. Soft goods separate bag only has the gloves, top and bottom under suit. -
All you need to know about the helmet can be found here.... http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/35356-anovos-helmet-rebuild/

ANOVOS; Major customer service issue
mikidymac replied to Tricky the Clown's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
I opened a support ticket for soft goods and no response after two weeks. I then sent customer service an email with my order number and received a response and pre-paid return label two days later. I think the issue is their support ticket system. -
DK First Build (Anovos)
mikidymac replied to dktigerz2's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Looking great. You might want to try some of the other strapping methods such as the snaps or brackets as most of the people using the anovos supplied velcro system are having fitment issues or it is failing after a few troops. I like to do things once. -
From an accuracy standpoint and this is what the Centurion level is all about I just don't see how moving the notch forward with the shims makes any sense. If you look at the movie clips and lets assume the armor fits perfectly without shims then the notch is intended to line up with the butt plate and looks intentional. Now if you are a larger gut trooper like me at 6'3 and 195 lbs I need shims to make the Anovos armor at centurion with no gap. So assuming I remove the Anovos molded notch and shim 1-1/2" on each side then recut the notch it is now 1-1/2" farther forward and doesn't line up with the butt plate and is now under my holster. How is this more screen accurate now that the notch is farther forward and out of place. Keep in mind I am new to this and not trying to say anybody especially the DO and staff is wrong I am just trying to understand the reasoning like many there new troopers seem to be. As a greenhorn with no experience it would seem that you would want the notch to match the butt plate with or without shims. I think we need to keep in mind as Tony has said the CRL is a working evolution and can and does change. With an open respectful discussion by all if it makes sense this too can change. Stay classy San Diego.

Ok Tony, round 2. As the electrical cover plate screws don't have the correct head I went back to Home Depot. I found the Anovos screws are only 5.46mm so as suspected they are too small. I then found some electrical box screws that have the correct head and are almost 6.5mm at 6.28mm. For me I think that will be close enough. They are also very long so they can be easily trimmed to length. Here is the Anovos Screw. Wrong in every way. These are the Home Depot Screws.....

Tandy and Anovos Line 24 snaps
mikidymac replied to MechaPumpkin's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
I just got my Tandy snaps from eBay and they are like the first post. They say "Tandy" in big letters. I might try direct too since I have 4 Anovos kits to build. -
Ok,.... Last night I checked the outlet cover screws and they appear to be accurate. They measure 6.57mm with a digital caliper so I think that is close enough to the 6.5mm.

Anovos belt, removing holster screws?
mikidymac replied to BlayneFitz's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
I was working on mine last night. Count me as one more with the epoxy from hell. I don't know what that pink glue Anovos used but I too have 3 big holes in my belt now to fix. That stuff is just crazy. -
A question regarding SDS 501st basic approval
mikidymac replied to humperdingle's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
I can totally see your frustration and if I were you I would be loosing confidence and interest too. I am not in the 501st yet and working on my Anovos kit but I don't think what the guys in the UK garrison are doing is correct. To have you make the comment that you would be approved in another garrison is unfortunate. It has become obvious that your heart is in this for all the right reasons and you are doing all things within reason to gain approval. I think someone with some authority needs to speak to the UK garrison about basic approvals. Basic is basic no matter what garrison you are in. I am starting to see why some people have the idea that the 501st is an elitist group. To me this is not troopers helping troopers. Maybe the US garrison could make you an honorary member for approval LOL. -
Some people will add foam blocks to the inside of the armor in spots to keep it in place and sitting correctly.

There is already a thread for this just below yours.
