Anyone deal with Doopydoos lately?
mikidymac replied to Rotcorp's topic in General Weapons Discussion
FYI, they are back in stock as of today. 11-10-16. -
I have to vote for TK Boots. The boots are amazing and the customer service is top notch. My wife's boots were too small because he doesn't have women's sizes and they went above and beyond to exchange them for a size larger. I also needed a pair for my shadow trooper so he made me a great deal on a less than perfect pair that were not up to their standards since I was painting them black. When they arrived they looked perfect except for a small leather grain pattern so their inspection process is very high on quality. For my first outing about 4 hours on Halloween they were very comfortable as delivered. They were easy to get on and the top fit fine inside my shins. As far as freebies, they come with stickers, a awesome patch, shoe horns and 2 cloth storage bags.

To the OP, I think you're Garrison might be wrong as the official 501st weapons policy is that weapons are not required for membership. Blasters are cool but are not and should not be required for them to approve you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I know some here are super critical and push for every little detail but to say you wouldn't even use the Anovos helmet seems extreme. I love mine and so does every kid that has seen it. It took about an hour total to get it up to Centurion level and the price was perfect for me. Just my thoughts and I love mine.

I used the military pads but not the top one. One narrow one on each side of my forehead and a trapezoid one on each side of the back of my head. It locks in pretty good and with a chin strap it is snug and I can see pretty well. Except for the 3' traffic cone in the middle of the sidewalk Halloween night. Honestly, who puts a traffic cone in the middle of a sidewalk.

What is everyone using for nomex gloves for trooping
mikidymac replied to nukem25rs's topic in ANH (Stunt and Hero)
The eBay nomex gloves are awesome. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Thank you so much Tony. Best Halloween Ever! And yes, 6'3" is a little tall for a Storm Trooper.

Flexible Hand Plates from kit parts
mikidymac replied to iheartbiscuits's topic in ANH (Stunt and Hero)
I would consider it saving some money as long as you don't intend to sell them. -
Also questioning the S trim replacement. The Anovos has been confirmed as accurate as possible. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hello Tony, its me again.... On to the TD, I see you removed 3/16" from each end of the TD but since it doesn't have a center in the beginning couldn't you just save yourself a cut and trim 3/8" from one end? Yes, I am and engineer. LOL. And BTW, while I consider myself quite smart I burned myself boiling the back and shins, not shaping them but dumping out the pan. Classic!

Yet another forearm question (Anovos)
mikidymac replied to inv8r's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
In my unprofessional opinion. It looks just fine especially once you have your undersuit and gloves on. A little foam in the forearms will even it up. You can then remove all the return edge if going for higher levels of approval. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Oh, now you tell me after mine is ruined. Thanks a lot Tony. LOL, all in good fun, STOP looking at my cod!

Yes, Tony, that is the spot I was talking about. In your second picture where you show the two pencil marks and the ruler showing 1/2" between them and your typed measurements of 5/8" and 1-1/8" from the edge are in agreement. This puts the snaps very close together. Then in the next picture after you drilled the first hole the pencil mark is now shown at 3/4" for the second hole to be drilled from the first hole. THis looks like a better clearance and where you made your final drill hole. I was suggesting changing the measurements to 5/8" and 1-3/8" in the text portion to match your final location. I did mine at the 5/8" and 1-1/8" marks and 1/2" apart as you said and when they appeared to be too close using the same snaps as you is when I noticed the next picture with them further apart. Does that make sense? On the elastic, sorry, I know it is 3/4" what is the length from rivet to snap?

Don't get me wrong, I think it isn't a great idea but what we are questioning is is it illegal so please don't flame me. However it would have to be proved that you were driving careless or reckless. If you were driving perfectly fine and normal obeying all laws then this would not apply. The same goes for peripheral vision. 99% of the time I wear contacts but on occasion I do were glasses to drive and when I am wearing glasses I can only see where the lenses are directly in front of my eyes and loose the peripheral vision just to the design of glasses in general so I have to move my head to see out of the side windows and side mirrors and this is all perfectly legal. Now when I am wearing contact my bucket fits very well and my field of vision is the same as with plain glasses so when driving the bucket is no more restrictive than glasses. In addition I am not endangering myself or others as I said in my particular bucket fit I can actually see very well out of the entire windshield and mirrors. Again, I might have done it once but don't plan to do it again. Not that I am saying I did.

There is no law requiring full face motorcycle helmets. It does suggest eye protection and protective clothing but doesn't regulate it. ---------- These would be legal.

Hello Tony, Do you have a measurement on the elastic piece connecting the Cod to the Butt? I saw the section where you install it but no measurements given. Also on the butt plate you said to install the snaps, one at 5/8" and one at 1-1/8" and your first picture shows the measure between them at 1/2" then the next picture after you drill the first hole shows them more than 3/4" apart where you actually drill the second hole. I did mine at the 5/8" and 1-1/8" measurements and they look too close once installed. Could you please revise this to eliminate future mistakes? Thanks.

Yet another forearm question (Anovos)
mikidymac replied to inv8r's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
I had a similar problem as you, I have large forearms but very small wrists. After trimming quite a bit I was at the point that they were starting to get too out of shape and tapered looking. I stopped at that point and decided to leave some return edge on the wrists so they didn't need to be so small to close the wrist gap and will settle for basic approval for now. Once I go for Centurion I will probably remove the return edge and maybe wear some soft gauntlet gloves under my rubber gloves to fill the gap for the approval. -
Not any more than sunglasses. If that is the case then wouldn't a required motorcycle helmet obstruct your view? This is fun. Under California Vehicle Code 26708 subdivision (a)(2), a person shall not drive a car with any object or material placed, affixed, or installed on the vehicle which obstructs or reduces the driver’s clear view through the windshield or side windows. The helmet isn't placed, affixed or installed on the vehicle. It's on my person. Every couple of months the CHP sets up a commercial vehicle checkpoint directly in front of my office. The next time they are here I will ask them directly and report back.

I know in California there is no specific law that I have found that prohibits us from wearing our buckets during driving even though it might not be the smartest thing. It could be argued either way by you and the officer as mine doesn't obstruct my view and I can see out of my windshield and in all my mirrors just as if I was wearing sunglasses. It is only illegal if you are trying to hide your identity during or while trying to commit a crime or evade detection. BTW: It was fun seeing peoples expression while I was driving on May the 4th. That is all I am going to say about that.

Wow, thanks Panda. I actually have one of those irons and never thought of that. Is the sock necessary for the iron? I don't have that.

That makes me feel a little better but will still annoy me. Hopefully at some point Anovos will offer separate pieces for sale. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So I am making great progress on my Anovos build thanks to Ukswrath but hit a snag. I am 6'3" so height will be an issue so I was heating the shoulders in boiling water to straighten them out for my height. The issue is some heat must have traveled up the pan from the flame and warped the side. So questions...... 1. Will this affect any level of approval? 2. Should I bother trying to fix it? 3. Is it worth the risk of more damage trying to fix it? 4. How would I try to fix it? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It looks like the shoulder straps are actually wedge shaped as they connect to the chest as opposed to a flat cut on the OT. As someone else pointed out those cover strips look like they would be a pain to make and install.

Painting armor to a showroom car like finish
mikidymac replied to kamikaze's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
First off let me say that looks amazing. What would concern me is that the standard primers do not bond very well to plastic like ABS and PVC, especially rattle cans. My other concern is with that many coats the thickness is getting pretty good and those paints don't have any flex additives in them. I hope i am wrong but I think there is a pretty good chance of it coming apart once you start wearing it and flexing the plastic. -
Any updates on the Kidney/Ab shim decision Tony?
