  1. ABS paste is pretty easy to make and use, Jake. If you need some assistance with that just PM me. Great to hear that you are aiming for EIB!!!
  2. There is also a product called "Detailing clay" or "Cleaning clay" which is used to remove surface materials like paint overspray, etc. from car finishes without damaging them. You can probably find it on Amazon or the like.
  3. The old saying "If it's sounds too good to be true, it probably isn't" applies here, Duncan. There are several "vetted" armorers in the UK, including Troopermaster who can supply you with a great kit which is 501st approvable. Check out this thread for more info.: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/11538-the-various-types-of-armor-and-where-to-find-them/ and I would also sign up on the UK Garrison's site, as they can be of great help, www.ukgarrison.co.uk You should also get in touch with Chris, (themaninthesuitcase) who is the Imperial Attache for the UK. You can PM him here: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/user/23806-themaninthesuitcase/ I would honestly steer clear of anything you find online, especially eBay.
  4. I have a set of brand new Anovos ABS hand guards I could send you, Robert. They have been slightly trimmed, but you would need to finish them off. I can get them to you for $12.00, which includes Priority Mail and tracking. PM me if interested.
  5. I personally would steer clear of that one, Dave. It doesn't look "breathable", and you could end up sweating like crazy, even in cooler weather. I suggest getting one of Darman's neck seals. They are made to order for your neck size, available with either Velcro or zipper closure, ( I suggest Velcro) are top quality, and the customer service is great! I own a couple, and love em'! Here is a link to the sales thread... photos can be seen about 10 posts down. http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/21385-darmans-neck-seals/?hl=%2Bdarman+%2Bneck+%2Bseals
  6. First, welcome, James! I personally don't know of any limitations for this, so I say go for it!
  7. Looking GREAT, Javi! I like the monkey cup on your funnel, LOL!
  8. What I would do at this point is try to re-sell it on eBay, Ari. That way you could recoup some of your money and use that to purchase a quality set. If you do that, please list it as a "Halloween Costume, not eligible for 501st approval". It will sell, I promise you. AP is a GREAT set of armor, but there are sellers like AM (Troopergear) who sell kits for less than $800.00
  9. I see a Centurion badge under you name in the near future, Kev!
  10. Looking GREAT so far, Robert! IMHO, I would go with the one on the right, if simply for aesthetic purposes. The farther apart they are the more definition, so they look like buttons and less like a strip. As long as you are in the general area some leeway is allowed, the same with the knobs. This may help: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/40081-tip-note-on-hwt-pack-specs/
  11. It looks as if someone's dog had a field day with of a few of those pieces.
  12. I saw this post the other day: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/40091-under-suite/
  13. During your research, don't forget to check out the Advanced Tactics section. This will show you just how far you can take your armor toward screen accuracy without too much extra effort.
  14. Well, the new year is upon us, and I thought that I would suggest a few ideas for 2017. One of or mottos here at the FISD is "Troopers helping Troopers", and the amount of help that many of you provide here is truly staggering. The 501st Stormtrooper community is second to none in helping each other out, but I am going to ask that we up the ante in the upcoming year (and beyond) to take it to the next level. With that in mind, I am offering the following ideas to make 2017 the "Year of the TK". 1. Take a few minutes each week to say "Welcome" to the first time posters in the Introductions thread. We all remember our first time... it's important to make the new folks feel at home, and let them know that we are here to help. 2. Know a lot about armor? Host an armor party! These are really appreciated by those starting or in the middle of a build. It's a chance not only to pass on your knowledge, but to get to know your future trooping mates as well while having some fun! I learn something new at each one I attend. 3. Pay it forward. Remember that set of rare earth magnets, or those extra bits and pieces of armor or build supplies gathering dust in a storage bin? Why not offer them to someone who needs them for only the cost of postage? It will be appreciated, I promise you. 4. Make 2017 the year that you decide to go for your EIB and/or Centurion badge.. (it's never too late). If you are already there, encourage those both here * and on a local level to do the same, and offer any help needed. .* Check out the EIB/Centurion submission threads and offer constructive comments or useful tips. 5. Are you regularly active on this site and on a local level, and willing to go a little above and beyond in helping new folks? Consider joining the Imperial Attache program: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/15252-fisd-attach%C3%A9-program/ We are always looking for quality Troopers, and many Garrisons/Squads need them. Here is the list: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/38483-fisd-imperial-attache-list/ 6. Keep your personal trading cards on you at all times, especially when trooping. This promotes the 501st and FISD, and could very well lead to a new member of your Garrison. 7. GET OUT THERE AND TROOP! Armor is of no use if sits in a bin. 8. Stay active here on the FISD site. It's important to check in regularly to find out what is going on in our community, (CRL changes, updates, policies, etc.), and many of you have missed out on runs of patches, shirts, coins and other cool stuff. It only takes a few minutes a week to keep up to date, and also gives you the chance to offer your expertise and guidance to others. If you have any more ideas, post em' up here. I wish each and every one of you a great new year, and hope to meet you all at Celebration 2017!
  15. Looks like we have a winner! Congrats to Glen, (gmrhodes13) who went ALL-OUT for this contest... your jacket is on it's way, sir! Second place goes to Garrison Carida's very own Preston (Pretzel). Great job, gentlemen!
  16. This I gotta see!
  17. Welcome, Josh! While I am not sure about importing an entire weapon (prop or regular) to Australia, I am sure that the Doopydoos kit would be fine. However, I would advise ordering it as soon as possible. Delivery to the states runs between 6 to 8 weeks, and it could be even more to AU. Depending on when your armor kit is supposed to arrive, that could give you something to work on while you hurry-up-and-wait for it. I would also think about getting everything ready and in place for your build for when your kit arrives. I have a thread (Supply List for your TK Build) that may help, and there is a link under the large avatar below. Best of luck, and we are looking forward to your build thread!
  18. Nice touch, folks. No matter what she thought of the Empire, I have a feeling that deep down she always had a soft spot for Stormtroopers..
  19. Tony is absolutely correct on this. Since there is no holster or drop boxes on the HWT, it saves a ton of time taking them on and off. Also, your canvas belt will get "dirty" from the weathering, (as it should be), so if you are planning on switching costumes often, your regular shiny white TK will look bad. Alternatively, you could go HWT full time!
  20. Just remember that you can (and should) eliminate all the return edges on both ends of the forearm before fitting and gluing.
  21. As long as you know someone there to have them shipped to, I don't think it would be a problem, Mark. If you don't know anyone, and depending on what part of N.Y you are heading to, perhaps you could ask one of your fellow Attaches located there (Allan, Steve, or Anthony) if they could have them shipped there and pick them up. Their contact info. can be found on the Attache list: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/38483-fisd-imperial-attache-list/
  22. Just be sure to steer clear of anything you find online, especially eBay. Despite what they say in their ads, 99.99% are not approvable. I suggest sticking with one of the armorers from the list that John supplied the link to,
  23. Good question! I wouldn't think so, but would be interested in finding out if anyone knows.
  24. A couple of things that may help you are to use some sandpaper (starting with 120 grit) and smooth down the top rear portion of your thighs, finishing it off with 220 grit. It looks a bit ragged, and could snag on your under-suit. For more comfort, I would also remove the return edge around the groin/cod section of your ab plate, as well as the ones on the inside of the tops of your forearms. Down the road, (and depending on how often you troop) you may want to trade in the Velcro connections for snaps. Best of luck on your submission, and soon you will have that official TK number under your name!
