My ANH Anovos Build "Steve"

Judging from what I've seen so far, you should substitute the word confidence for the word hope. You are doing the right thing by taking your time and asking questions. -
My ANH Anovos Build "Steve"

One thing you can do is to add inside cover strips, Kevin. I used scraps from the build to make these, as they don't have to be pretty, just functional. I especially recommend using them on the insides of the front of the calves. Those joints get flexed quite a bit when putting them on/pulling them off, and often get more stress than any others. The ABS that Anovos uses is pretty flexible, but it never hurts to add a little "insurance" to the inside. It doesn't have to be ABS, even a heavy duty white plastic "For Sale" sign cut into strips will do. GREAT job on removing the return edges on the wrist side of the forearms, and you can do the same to the elbow side as well and make it to Centurion. I would do this before final fitting/gluing, though. You can (and should) remove all the return edges from the tops of your thighs as well, following the natural shape of the pieces. Another thing you may want to do (from a comfort standpoint) is to trim the return edges from the tops of your biceps (shown in red below) as well as those jagged connections (shown in blue). They can (and will) cut into your arm and snag on your undersuit Keep up the fantastic work!! -

That would be it! You actually sent me 2 or 3, and I used one of the others on my last build. -

Looking good, Braff, and great job on that AM kit! You might want to trim down all of the cover strips to where they are flush with the edges of your armor, especially the tops of the thighs (front and back) and the wrists of the forearms. SUPER nice job on the ab/kidney connections and rivet alignment!! -
Looking sharp, Enrico! It may be the photograph, but it appears that the rear sight on your E-11 is on backwards...the side with the ridges needs to face the rear. If this is the case, you will need to fix that. I did the exact same thing and it is an easy 10 minute fix. If you need any help just PM me and I will show you how I did it. (BTW, those hand plates were made by me, not TM).

A lot of it depends on the type of event, Solomon. For a church function you should be fine, but I would check with the person in charge of it first. Normally trooping alone at an event is not such a good idea. Without an experienced handler, people (especially kids) can get a little rambunctious. I know a Trooper who did a 10 year old's birthday party alone which was supposed to last an hour, but he left 15 minutes into it after the kids kept punching his armor and the parents just watched and laughed. He also had his TD stolen. I highly discourage anyone going to an event alone where alcohol is involved. The adults are worse than the kids.

Grappling hook and comlink
justjoseph63 replied to RLH2515's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
This is my version of the grappling hook set up. Mine are solid resin cast as opposed to 3-D printed: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/40467-grappling-hookboxes-for-sale/ -
Rey's NN-14 blaster pistol child size from scratch

I grew up with 3 little sisters, so I completely understand.. never a dull moment. -
Super nice job on that button paint, John. A lot of people go overboard and make them too wide, which would need to be removed later on if (hopefully) aiming for levels 2 and 3. Using a Q-tip was a smart idea, since it gives more control. I'd be really interested in finding out how those power packs work out for you, and how long they last. (I get tired of spending a small fortune on batteries)! Also, don't forget to paint the screws on your TD black. Looking GREAT so far, so keep up the good work!!

Wow, Curro, GREAT job so far! The creativity of people here never ceases to amaze me. Looking forward to seeing it complete!! -
GREAT to hear that you are headed for EIB, Scott! You can carry your E-11 as well as the DLT-19, which is what many Troopers do. Or like Randy mentioned, HWT is always an option. (Yet another subtle hint)..

An Individual Work of Art! "Art" certainly is subjective...

Way to go, Robert!! Always great to see another Hero build... next up, EIB and then Centurion!

How important is the interior strapping?
justjoseph63 replied to zemzero's topic in FISD Centurion Requirements
It's what's on the outside that counts, Braff. Interior strapping is pretty much up to the builder, as long as it functions correctly. Some use single snaps, some (like myself) double snaps like you have on your ab/chest connection or a combination of both as you have done, some use Velcro, and some go with the "classic" bracket system. Any of these can get you to EIB and Centurion, and it looks as if have done a really nice job!! P.S., GREAT to hear that you are aiming for level 3! -
ANH, ESB, ROTJ, oh my...
justjoseph63 replied to Rocket's topic in Getting Started - Read this First!
When it comes right down to it there are no huge differences in the overall appearance. Even up close, 99% of the general public doesn't notice the subtle variations, but since we strive for screen accuracy and there are certain characteristics that each one has we have the CRLs. I think a lot of it has to do with personal preference. If ESB was someones' favorite film from the franchise, then they have the opportunity to emulate the armor from that film with all it's nuances. I think ANH Stunt is the most popular because many people identify with it, and it is also the easiest to get. If you are (hopefully) thinking of joining the 501st, just make sure that you get a kit from one of the "vetted" armorers here, (link below). Not all sellers offer the complete range of TK armor types, but you can find whichever one you want there. Just be sure to avoid eBay anything you find online, as they are are 99.9% re-casts. Cheap? Yes. 501st acceptable? No. http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/11538-the-various-types-of-armor-and-where-to-find-them/ Here is another informative thread: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/19329-where-what-and-whom-to-avoid-when-buying/ -
