Ayuda para el foro internacional 501st
justjoseph63 replied to Luis Klon's topic in Ayuda en español
Dado que su número de TK oficial se muestra debajo de su nombre aquí en los foros, muestra que ha solicitado y ha sido aceptado para obtener acceso completo a la Legión FISD. ¿Tienes problemas para publicar aquí? -
Probably not a prudent move to do in civilian clothes, but if you were in full armor they would probably want to take selfies with you.

Andrew's First Build - WTF ANH Stunt TK
justjoseph63 replied to djmatrix09's topic in ANH Build Threads
A hearty congratulations to you and yours, Andrew, and GREAT to hear that they are both well! Might as well start your youngling out on the right path: -
That depends on how well it fits. It should have enough room to fit 2 or 3 fingers inside. You don't want it too tight or too loose.
-
Looks good! Do you have a pic of the openings on the wrist end?

To kick off this program, I am offering an incentive for the first one to post in this forum requesting a pre-approval review and then receive basic 501st approval. Once your armor has been reviewed here, submitted to your GML and you receive your official 501st TK I.D., simply sign up for Legion access here at the FISD (link below) then PM me with your information and I will send you a set of flexible hand guards and any hardware you may require to reach Centurion level if you should wish to pursue that. If you already have these items, I will send some cool swag. Good luck, future Troopers! https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/16-501st-trooper-status-requests-include-link-to-your-501st-profile-in-your-request/ --------------------------------------------------CLAIMED-------------------------------------------

Bradley's HWT Build
justjoseph63 replied to AngryEwok's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance

Looking SHARP, Trooper, and this should be an easy pass for EI! For your Centurion submission you will need to remove the white paint from the exterior snaps on your butt and cod plates, though, (an easy fix). The CRL does state that "rivets are painted white", but that is only for the ones on the ab/kidney connection.

Bradley's HWT Build
justjoseph63 replied to AngryEwok's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
I could not agree more. Since there are no film screen shots (only video game) the measurements for the CRL were approximated. Before we created the CRL and look of the "accepted" pack, the variations were all over the place. People were adding flashing lights, video monitors, LCD displays, etc. (everything short of a mirrored disco ball). In addition, we tried to create a pack that could be constructed using items that were readily available to most Troopers, like oil pans, food containers and such that would still capture the "spirit" of the one seen in the game, and create some much needed continuity. Obviously some do not have access to certain items and must improvise as they go along. Nothing wrong with this at all. If the measurements of the radio box or other pieces happens to be a bit off of what is listed, it is no big deal. As long as the finished item is "..styled after and closely matches..." the one seen in the CRL you are good to go. -
Can you post a photo of the inside piece of each one (side by side)?
-
Hopefully you will indeed be aiming for Centurion, Jeff. For basic and EI (level 2) requirements the return edge can be present on the wrist opening. For level 3 in can not, even in the "bump" area circled in red. (see photo below). If you are indeed aiming for level 3, I highly recommend removing them now. This is not only 100% screen accurate, but if you glue them to fit now and remove the edge later, the wrist opening will be too large. If you haven't seen it yet, I highly suggest checking out Tony's (ukswrath) build thread. Tons of great photos, details and information! https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/35086-ukswraths-anovos-tk-build/

If I could throw in my 2 cents worth (again), I would still go with a 2 piece set-up. As I mentioned before, if you get a snag, tear or hole, (yes, it happens) with a one piece you will have a difficult time sewing lycra. It mentions in the ad that they can add a zipper. Has anyone ever tried to GET to a zipper in full armor? It also mentions that they can add thumb stirrups to hold your sleeves down. This is actually a good idea, and keeps your wrist covered. Alternatively, you can cut a one inch hole at the end of your sleeve for the same exact effect. I did this on my first 2 shirts and never had any fraying or the like. Nowdays, I just use gloves with extra long wrists. Please don't think I am knocking this company in any way, it's just that after a few dozen troops you will have fraying of the material, holes, etc., (especially us HWTs since we carry a pack) and it's a lot less expensive to replace a shirt or pants than to purchase an entire new one piece.

Agreed. Plus, whoever trimmed it left sharp angles on the butt and ab, which creates areas that will be prone to cracking.

Some good information there, Chris. Thanks for the heads-up!

No worries, Marc!

Alright Troopers, I would like to know if there is anyone with a 3D printer (US based) that would not only be willing to do some, well.. 3D printing for me but to pop it in the mail as well. I am more than willing to pay the going rate, (within reason) and can even throw in some swag depending on the price. We could also do a swap if you like... (I have some REALLY cool swag). If interested, please PM me, and many thanks! Joseph

501st membership vs. Centurion status
justjoseph63 replied to DStep's topic in Getting Started - Read this First!
As mentioned, it's GREAT to see that you are headed for Centurion, D'angelo! When you get there, I can promise you will be especially proud of the extra time and effort it took to put into it. In addition to looking over the CRL, (Costume Reference Library) I would highly suggest looking over some of the approved EI and Centurion submissions in the Advanced Tactics area. The approved ones have a number after them, i.e. "TK 12345 requesting ANH Stunt Status" (AP) 321. Reading the comments left by others and the D.O.s (Deployment Officers) will give you a much better idea of what will need to be tweaked. Best of luck on your white armor journey, and please feel free to ask any questions you may have. -
As Daniel mentioned, for Centurion level there can be no return edges on the wrist end, even on the "hump" area (seen circled in red in the first photo below). This should be considered during fitting rather than after, as if you do it after the wrist openings will be loose. I also always recommend that you remove all the return edges on the tops of the thighs. First, it is screen accurate (second pic shows screen used ones), and it will prevent any chafing to your upper thighs/groin area while trooping.

Looks like you are off to a great start, Mark! I have completed a few of these with Tino's incredible completion kits, and I really think you should go the extra mile and use everything he includes. (You won't be sorry, I promise)! You are fortunate to have all the extra tools on hand, so I would take advantage of that fact and make this a showpiece!

TK - 32294 Reporting For Duty !!!
justjoseph63 replied to Bazz's topic in Newly Approved Members - Sound Off!
Congratulations on your approval, and welcome to the 501st, Adi! Hopefully we will see you around the FISD boards frequently, and helping out those also on their "white armor journey" in between troops! -
FWIW, I have had this (Server Error) happen a LOT lately. I normally go online about 4 a.m., which I thought would be a good time. No luck. Everything starts out fine, but then after about 5 minutes everything shuts down. I don't have this problem on any other sites. Perhaps a dedicated server would be the way to go assuming we have the funds available. I would be willing to chip in extra if needed.

ATA cover strips driving anyone else crazy?
justjoseph63 replied to rzill's topic in ANH Build Threads
As Mike mentioned those will be fine, Ron. I would not recommend filling in any gaps. The use of clamps on the ends will help a lot.... What size magnets did you use? Rare earth ones come in a wide range of sizes, (as small as a watch battery) and some are just not large (powerful) enough to use for clamping cover strips. I use the round 20mm x 3mm size, which is the minimum I recommend. If you double these up they will be MORE than powerful enough, I promise. -
Expensive? Yes, BUT... you can save $15.00 if you sign up for their newsletter.
